  1. I have a raptor for sale if anyone is interested......
  2. You want a 2 into 1 pipe for extreme low end and tight trails or if you want twin pipes then stick w/ midrange pipes like Ptr mids or fmf sst's, as far as that -1 swingarm...skip it and go w/ -2" swingarm, it'll change the traction and handling characteristics dramatically and you won't regret it one bit...
  3. Pull the air cleaner out and look inside the carbs. One of your slides must be stuck open.....
  4. I have a '89 frame all powdercoated and looks like new, or you could get a long solid steel rod or shaft and bend it back...what could you possibly hurt???
  5. 290 for the 30-50, and 270 for 70-90
  6. Cut the end of the lid off, just 1.5" right behind the clips so you still have all four clips.....the cover will still protect the air filter....A K&N w/ flange and outware would also be a good idea.....cover the holes on top w/ rubber plugs or plastic pop ins...
  7. Pull the air cleaner and look into the intake, you'll see what I mean, If you dont', then pull the slides back out and then you'll see and put them the right way..
  8. I agree w/ Aussie, you should only have to go up a few sizes for the winter....The tube the needle sits in is probably restricting gas flow....I'd call Keihin and see what they say about it......
  9. Are you doubting me to make it in 48 hours!!!!!! I'd prove you wrong if I didn't have 5 other peoples quads... I'm thinking 57 hours w/ eating, gassing, etc.....we have 3.5 days anyways, if everything is going smoothly, then we'll hit a motel halfway or more for 8 hours.... ROADTRIP!!!!!!
  10. Like I said, check the choke tube between the carbs, look into the intake and look at the slides to see if the cutaway of the slides are facing the air box..
  11. Ratio sounds good, I agree w/ cgamla, pull the carbs and clean them w/ an air compressor thoroughly....Adjust float height and see what size jets you have....then give us a list of mods and jetting you have...
  12. I'd throw some 240-250 mains in there, leave the needles stock, stock pilot, adjust air screws to the best throttle response of powerband.....Then run it wide open throttle in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds, shut it down, coast to a stop, pull the plugs...Black is rich, brown is perfect, tan or white is lean......Thanks for the compliment gato!!
  13. sounds like the carb is too small...what are your mods??
  14. The mains don't affect idle. Make sure the choke tube between the two carbs is in place, slides have the cutaways facing the air box, adjust the air screws, and sync the carbs....If the air screws like to be .5 turn out or less then get some larger pilots..
  15. Part of tors. Throttle over ride system......Might as well disconnect the rest also. Little black box above the left exhaust..disconnect the plug...parking brake switch on the left handle bar, follow the wire towards the gas tank to a plug, disconnect it....wires for carb tops, disconnect at the plug, but not necessary....If the jetting was fine for 2 months then it should be fine.....If disconnecting the tors doesn't solve it, then pull the carbs off, separate the bowls, and clean them w/ compressed air....
  16. Try a smaller pilot, has it always done this since you change the jetting or just started recently?
  17. Adjust the air screws and see where they like to be at....what size pilots are you running??
  18. I would also pull the flywheel and check the key..You might have slightly sheared it and offset the timing.....maybe retarded alittle....
  19. If you jetted it for 70 degrees then rode in 30 degree weather, then you'd melt the pistons.....Its safe to run rich w/ some power lost, but you can't run lean due to motor damage.....for every 20 degrees out will be a jet size change....I'd jet it for the colder weather now and just change the jets in the spring for spring/summer range...either that or jet it for 30 degrees out and see how it runs in the summer....
  20. Your idle high enough??
  21. I don't want to hear the labor pains, I just want to see the baby!!!!!! How often do you ever get a chance to go to Dumont??? Shit, I'll dial the jetting in for nothin if you go....
  22. Try doing a plug test, then try riding it at half throttle and at wot for 10 seconds on both.....
  23. If some of the threads are showing, then put a nut on and weld it, then unscrew it w/ the nut....If there is no threads, then get an "easy out". Special tool at the hardware store, ask them, they'll know....
  24. I don't understand it though. I dragged my bike a little and was running a RK520 chain like my quad....My bike is pushing 135hp at the wheels w/ 60lbs of torque....I pulled 110mph in the 1/8 at 6.6 seconds and 135mph in the 1/4 in 10 flat........I wonder if their chains aren't perfectly aligned or running the stock swingarm which will give problems being straight.....
  25. Check the kill switch??? J/k.....test the stator. mine did the same thing on my '95, was running like a champ and then just died like I hit the kill switch...Call Ricky Stator and he'll tell you the ohms and color wires to test. I can't remember off the top of my head. It'll take you 5 minutes to test the stator.....BTW, the stator has two areas in it, one for the headlights, and one for ignition, so even if the headlights come on while kick, it doesn't matter...
