  1. Pilot is too rich...I'd drop it down 2 sizes and go from there....Your fouling plugs too fast...
  2. The key will give you 2hp across the whole curve. No takeaways anywhere...I got a adjustable plate and gained on my stock porting and my stroker..Both setups like the +4 the best. I'd strongely suggest it. For the money, the mod is cheap....Like Rod and nightrider said...the key installation is what caused them to shear.....Install it right and you won't have a problem. You have to torque them. I've seen shees will sheared stock keys...
  3. Rust color........I'd go up a couple of sizes for shits and giggles and see what the plugs do. Sounds to me, you might be lean..You want a chocalate brown color. The outside ring should be black and wet, the center strap should be dark brown and dry....There is only 1-2 sizes on the mains that'll yield this. Too rich and the strap will be black and wet. Too lean and you get different colors, grey, red, white, tan, etc...Lean conditions will hold back the revs, rich conditions will drop off fast and break up...
  4. Fmf pipes are very sensitive to needle positions and have great gains w/ them. Definately try it, also adjust your air screws...1/2 -1 turn can make a difference, especially w/ elevation and temp change.
  5. If it starts hard when cold, then go up on the pilot...Try a 60 or 62 and go from there. If it starts hard warm, but great when cold, then lower your pilot to a 50 and go from there. Next, I'd take it for a wide open throttle run for 5-10 seconds in 6th gear , shut it down, coast to a stop and pull the plugs. Post a pic if you can. If not, then describe what color the strap on the plug is...
  6. That was easy. Your supposed to wait for the suggestion before you give the answer...
  7. Turn them all the way in clockwise and then turn them out 7.5 turns..
  8. Exactly. A lean mid-throttle will cause hesitation before the powerband....
  9. Have you tried a new set of plugs? Even though they are not fouled, they'll still cause a slight hesitation. Enough to notice. I change my plugs every 6 months to a year and notice the snappiness. Also make sure your filter is clean...
  10. Mods are in his sig.....I'd try adjusting the needles richer. Move them to the 5 th clip from the blunt end...hesitation before powerband is a lean condition. If it was rich, the it would break up....also make sure your carbs are in sync. That'll help w/ throttle response. Like sredish suggested, check your compression.
  11. Did you really believe I was serious??? :rotflmao:It was supposed to be funny Not everyone is a John Force of ATV drag racing like you Banchetta I never said I was the best dragracer around, just using an example. Sorry I couldn't see you laughing behind the keyboard.... But anytime you want to run them, let me know. We'll see who will be who....ps I'll be close to your hometown in Feb....
  12. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking the needle is rich because of the hesitation before powerband or that "booooooooogggggg" That is a indication of a lean condition from either the pilot or needle. If it starts hard when cold even w/ the choke on, then go to a larger pilot. If it starts great, then raise the needle by lowering the clip towards the tapered end.
  13. You don't really believe that, do you????? I know a lot of people that'll lose even on their yfz450's. I'll ask them to race it and walla, I win the drag by 2-3 quads... Did the motor all of a sudden get more power when I got on it??? If you take 2 shees and put just pipes on them and race them, then swap riders and race again....Most of the time, the rider will win, not the shee. Riders make more differences then different pipes...
  14. Jimmy, you couldn't take me at Coalfest, so what makes you think you can take me at Sandfest????? I've got some more for you, so I hoped you've done more....Rod and I just keep trying to get more, but seem to gain the same every time we see each other....your falling behind!!!!Better start showing up at the events.... Check out the Glamis trip in Feb...no excuses why you can't make it or not enough time..... JKJK is coming up the 2nd week of October for the Fryberg Fair. We're hooking up, maybe you can come up too. We'll have a little gathering up here.... Oh ya, bring the shee in case we end up at the sand drags here.....
  15. Great info, I love my ptr mids and always wondered how the hi revs did. I've heard they pull like the old T5's.....so they pulled just as hard in the 1/8th and 300' drags....Thanks for the info...
  16. Dragracing is 50% motor and 50% rider.....nevertheless, the old schools are very nice all around pipes....
  17. Jetting should show a change, if not then you might have another problem. Try looking into the plug wires and spark plug tops...
  18. If the plate is on top, then the port timing isn't affected...
  19. hehe.....Absolute vodka, triple sec, madore, curaco, and sour mix.......
  20. I"m building a raptor for one of my workers. He'll be definately going. So there is 2 there. I also want to bring my little girls Yamamoto 70 for a discount, It won't take up much room. I can put it sideways in my p/u.... Rod will go, don't let him fool you. He can't resist going to a gathering and getting someone drunk, then he'll get up the next morning to video their hangover... I know JKJK and his brother will definately go too. So there is 2 more. You probably already have them accounted for....I might have a couple of other people to, but they didn't even show up for Sandfest, so we'll take that by ear......
  21. I"m down for whatever. I'm definately hitting Glamis this year. You got a good thing going JT. Walter, why aren't you thinking about going? We can make this the Roostfest......
  22. Why do you recommend to avoid the kevlar plates???
  23. Is Pismo at a higher elevation?
  24. If its spitting and sputtering, then lower the needle by raising the clip. Try 2nd clip from the blunt end.
