  1. Sounds lean to me also, what size jets are your running?
  2. Those shocks were on ebay a couple of weeks ago, the rear shock was like 18" and the fronts were 17.5"....too long for a shee..
  3. It also depends on rider. I can waste my buddie w/ his raptor while I'm in a wheelie from 1st to 6th gear and not put the front end down. When my friend Matty gets on the same raptor and races, I better not screw up on the launch because he is right there, and my shee isn't stock.....We can go on about this, but motor is only 50%, rider is the other 50%. It also depends on distance, terrain, mods....Stock banshee vs. stock 400ex on dirt.....
  4. Well you can't always be riding on pavement.......One of the main reasons why I went to a -2 swingarm....NO matter what tire I run , my shee hooks up and only wheelies when I want it to...but then again, thats not stock..
  5. When is the next coalfest Meat??? I'll be ready for some more hill shooting, this time I know what kind of setup I need....stock swingarm w/ paddles!!!!
  6. Like others its hard to change over. I've always ran 32:1 and never had a problem using castrol snowmobile oil that only cost 10 bucks for a gallon. So this year I decided to try Amsoil at 50:1. Didn't notice any change in throttle response or power, didn't affect my jetting any. Found it harder to read plugs since the ratio is lessen. Now my oil and gas separate if I don't ride my shee for a week. When I start it, it runs like shit for a couple of minutes until the oil and gas remix......I'm going back to what works for ME......
  7. Most people don't even keep them after a few years old....You got me on this one...
  8. Rapping like a loud tapping noise. You blew the lower bearings apart either in the connecting rod or crank.....If so then you'll have to bore the cylinders and new pistons....I'd pull the head , that'll tell all....
  9. Starts great when warm indicates that its the choke. did you blow compressed air into the carb bowl jets? Tube? something must be clogged.............................................................................................................still thinking..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................I'd look into the choke circuit area. Do you know someone w/ another set of carbs? Or at least the choke carb...
  10. You just described my shee w/o the porting. When you first go to the mid pipes you have to quickshift. When I drag, I was just grabbing one gear after another w/ the 16/42 gears. Those pipes aren't pulling peak torque at high rpms, they pull the hardest around 6000rpms...One of the best things that I like about them is that it seems like my motor doesn't have to peak out anymore, just let the torque pull at low rpms. Takes a few rides to get use to, but look at the less wear you'll have on the motor...
  11. Don't get me wrong, the Elkas perform just as well as the Works, but a lot of people make them look better than I would. They are a definate improvement over stock, but knowing what I do now. Its time for an upgrade.....
  12. I agree, do a leakdown test..
  13. Best I got was a 1.53 or .54, can't remember I was running consistent 1.57's its been a couple of years. I'm sure you can build a shee to run a gixxer, street bikes are hard as hell to launch. I had to slip the clutch for 300' to get my best times, thats w/ 2 teeth down on the front sprocket and 5 teeth up on the rear. This is also w/ a +6" swingarm and slammed to the ground and still slipping the clutch to keep the front end down...The banshee would have better hookup and could really launch w/ a low weight frame and wheelie bar. Bikes can't touch sleds in the 1/8 mile. Sleds were running 1.0 in 60'!!! Then you got to take into consideration that these bikes are BONE STOCK... 10 shot of NOS gives them 1 sec in the 1/4....I seen a turbocharged 929 pull 215hp on gas....He ran low 10's w/ the shittiest start I've ever seen. PUlled the front end up 3 times and letting out of the throttle. Ran 165mph in the 1/4 on the same run....This is my dyno guy, I'm trying to talk him into letting me take it for a pass or two.....hehe
  14. I have Quicksand arms and give them 2 thumbs up!!! I rolled my shee down a 90' hill from the top in the first week I owned them. NO problem...The powdercoating is still holding up nicely after 2.5 years...You can't go wrong for the money..As far as running stock shocks w/ +2 arms......don't hit anything steep and you'll be aright..the suspension will be very loose and will bottom the front frame or bumper coming into hills in 3rd gear or coming into 3' whoops..... If you stay on flat ground or mild trails then you'll be fine for time being...
  15. Maybe if my daughter was riding it....
  16. I know this is a shee forum, but lets get real....The stock shee will get taken by a raptor, 400ex, 250R, 450's, and ds 650's. NO doubt..now a piped shee......that'll depend on rider. This is on dirt w/ knobbies...On pavement, the shee will take topend, but thats it. A stock raptor is one of the faster 4-strokes topping out at 72, the shee will top out at 74. I don't know what the new 450's are topping out at, but don't even think about racing them short distance on a stock shee....
  17. Get some T6 or Pt high revs..
  18. On my shitty runs, I ran a 7.9 @ 99mph, later in the season I was pulling 6.6@104mph..
  19. Stan, my gixxer hit 135hp and 60ft/lbs at 379lbs dry....The 600's are hitting around 100hp for the newer ones. I believe the old CBR's are only around 85hp and weighed around 394lbs..They may have weighed more...
  20. My gixxer 750 only hit 85mph in first w/ stock gearing. I was hitting 104mph in the 1/8 mile (2nd gear). Dragracing a street vs. a -1 swingarm shee is TOTALLY RIDER.....It hard to get both out of the hole w/o wheeling, so your just wasting your time...Slam a shee w/ extended swingarm and slam a cbr w/ extended swingarm, then put 2 good riders on them. Then you'll get a good comparison...Getting off the line is what its all about. When I first started dragracing my gixxer, I only got 11:1@135mph. At the end of the season, I got 10:0@135mph. NO motor mods, just learning how to clutch it wot out of the hole.....
  21. The strokers need a lot more air than just ported cylinders and I only gained 2hp on top w/ 35's compared to stock 26's...so don't think your going to gain a lot...Carbs are a minimum gain mod and should be the last thing to do. Spend your money in other mods if you need some..
  22. thats not much unless your up there in elevation. You should be around 128psi at sea level...
  23. Sometimes I wonder about Elka, how can you change leverage and make it up by just putting a stiffer spring on??? Personally I think they are overrated. I know this will start up a HUGE discussion, but thats what this site is for. They are a very nice looking shock, but haven't been in the ATV industry that long and every shee that I've ridden w/ them don't impress me. I don't even notice a difference from my Works front steelers w/ stock rear shock...But when I ride a shee w/ Ohlins or Axis, its like night and day compared to my shee. I just want to go home and pull out the old credit card... Maybe I'm wrong, but valving is the suspension, it should be setup for arms, rider weight, and riding style. If you change the arms, your changing the leverage which will affect the valving dramatically. Anyone w/ a -2 swingarm knows that you have to have the rear shock revalved, not resprung....Furthermore, Works wouldn't bother changing my shocks over. They said they had to regut the shocks w/ different valving for the extra leverage. So they just gave me a really good price on a new set since I bought the origainal from them...The cost was almost the same....So why would one company have to change everything internally, where the other company doesn't have to.... . I've done a lot of research and tried a lot of shee w/ other suspension setups, I just can't find a shee w/ elkas to make me a believer..Am I the only one that feels this?
  24. traded for some Shearer drag pipes and i'm sure they'll work good for that. So, you can pretty much run whatever pipe you want. I'd personally recommend Fatties or T5s for all around riding. Fatties are my personal preference for all-around pipes and they work awesome with portwork. Stephen really like his T5 setup, so you choose. His portwork works really good though, nice and smooth powerband. 297527[/snapback] How do you like the Pt mids compared to the fmfs w/ the porting??? On a stock porting, I thought Pt mids had more low end w/ = top end...
  25. I don't kow, never dynoed a powervalved shee. If I had some T-rex cylinders, then maybe that'll just solve the problems we've been looking for....
