Don't give in that quickly, Splitting the cases is not as hard as you might think. You will actually have a better understanding of makes does what when it's done. Get a Clymers and a nice clear bench and hit it. It's really alot easier than you think, and it's been done thousands of times collectively by this site, so any questions are just a post away. broke

I'm sure Jim would tell me all that I need to know, but I thought this thread could have the potential to contain information that others might be interested in. I have discussed my future motor build with Jim over many PM's, he has been nothing but helpful. I was just trying to strike up what I hoped was going to be a thread that I could compare port work with the way the motor actually runs. I know quite a few run large carbs with strokers, I hoped someone would chime that was running small carbs. Hopefully it will, but if not, oh well. broke

I guess there is almost no interest in this topic. Does anyone know where the extra ports come into play in something along the lines of the 12 ports that have become popular recently. I know that a Banshee is only an 8 port design to start with and there are to intake port added in this type of porting. But where do the other 2 come from, Exhaust maybe? I guess I will hope for something out of this bump.

I have been reading alot of full drag, dune, MX, woods, trail/play porting and was just wondering if anyone knows their port specs. This has just come up recently in my head because I am looking to build a stroker. I wanted to compare the specs of my porting to others. Not for bragging rights, but just to see what makes different types of porting run the way they do. This may be a question for the builders, but "how do you calculate the durations of a stock port when turning into a stroker." I have been told that my current porting isn't going to work with a +4 because of my transfer duration. I guess I am just looking for a little bit of knowledge as to why it won't work rather than "it just won't." broke

I still have most of this quad. Cylinders, trans, stator, flywheel, and crank are the only parts that are sold. The whole rest of the bike is still for sale. I will be putting everything on Ebay by the end of the week. Anything you are interested in I can get pics right away. No reasonable offer will be refused. broke

Any talk of dates yet? I hate to say it, but I have to schedual even a weekend of riding months in advance. I figured this could use a bump, don't want it to get far enough down that it's forgotten about. broke

I don't know about air shocks for a quad, but they seemed to get all the bugs worked out with mountain bikes. Air shocks by nature need great sealing to prevent any leaks. Unfortunately with seals that tight come quite a bit of stiction. To alleviate some of the stiction, they put in negative springs. Some were an actual mechanical spring that kept the shock slightly sagged into it's travel and others used a negative air chamber that did the same thing. They were actually pretty good for setting ride height, but to me they were just shining a turd. Are these Fox shocks air or oil damped? Mountain bike manufacturers have been trying to one up the oil damped coil sprung shock for years. If you look at a pro downhill bike, which has some ofthe most advanced and sometimes overly complicated suspension you will ever see, they still use oil damped coil overs. I would be interested to see if Fox has cured all the little quirks that air shocks inherently have. broke

Troy Lee Daytona 2. I'm not sure if he is even building helmets anymore. It is a carbon helmet that costs about twice what it's worth. There are much nicer helmets for the cost of one of these. broke

I have stock carbs, stock airbox(even has the snorkle, but has 6/1" holes cut in the lid), and a brand new stock filter. Just make an offer. broke

Dan's got my RZ jugs now, Walt I'll let you ride it at the next Roostfest as long as you don't put any scratches on my less than pristine plastic Mine hopefully sent to him by August/September. Gonna have the shee built from the ground up for next year.. thank goodness. I, too, couldn't agree more with what banshee370 said. Dan was the porter of my RZ jugs. This is one of the strongest engines I have ever ridden in a quad. It may not be the fatsest or even have the highest HP, but it is built to run the way I wanted it to run. Starts to pull pretty much right off idle and rev out fairly high. Dan and I talked over about 30 emails before I even made an appointment to have mine built. I contacted him to have some more port work done on them, because I'm always looking to go faster. We went over parts set up, and he came up with a better set up to run the way I wanted to, without charging me a damn thing. His customer service is very good, maybe not prompt enough for some. I have heard nothing but good things about Passions motors either. In fact Jim will probably build me a +4 RZ when I can afford to have him do so. They are both reputable builders, and unfortunately they became busy builders by default. Some just criticize too quickly, and unfortunately Dan and Jim are better men and above coming on here and telling some whiny bitch to stick it up there ass. broke

Why not just rebuild it? broke

Matt, I was thinking about heading to the Badlands on Sunday. Are you guys pretty positive about going? I will be with one other person for sure. I've been trying to get more, but they're either in love or just getting too old. Just kidding, but I know they snoop around on here, so I had to get a jab in. Anyway, hope to see you there. I may start another post and see if there is any more interest. broke

Compression only goes up as the rings start to seat. Once it's broke in, it won't go anywhere but down. That would really depend on how new the top end is. I have never had reeds go bad, but if the compression went up with the new reeds, I would say you found your problem. When I have changed reeds, the only jetting that I ever had to do was to change my needle height. It may require slightly different jetting, but it should be minor. When you do a plug chop does the plug foul right away, or after you ride it around a while? Do a plug chop and start with jetting. You may have other problems, but get it jetted right first(if you can). broke
