Here at the local auto parts store its $5.25/ gallon. Have you checked for a distributors warehouse in your area? There used to be one in SLC where you could by 50 and 55 gal drums of anything VP you wanted. They're gone now -
Front Brakes, I Need Help Asap
Cotton eyed Joe replied to Dragg-on's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Hell yeah they will spin free. If you don't mind replacing bearings every trip to the dunes, take out the lip seals too. Mine spun so free I didn't want to put them back in, but I have better things to do than replace bearings all the time. Its what some call "free horsepower". Just removing the brakes and discs will give up some weight though. -

This is just a curiosity kind of thing, but has anyone put together a map of the different states that people are from that are talking about making it out? I told a few people how far Walt was coming, along with a few others, and it sounds crazy, but it shows the devotion for a hobby/sport/addiction. I'm so excited I don't think about much other than this at work. It will be my first time at the dunes in a year and a half. If my wife lands this job she interviewed for I'll be rollin PHAT, if not, I've got a few aces I can play (I think) -
I'm thinking about approaching the wife about it, but my bike isn't done yet Is this a rolling thing or does it have a dead line???

Anyone Up For Another Bhq Get Together?

Well Im about 75% sure I can make it. Its getting better everyday. Got the rear brake done, and got my 1 1/8 bar adapters on the banshee this week, getting the front brake seals in this next week. After that all I have to do it "adjust" that upper left a arm and I'm in business. Hopefully I can get painting on the plastic next week too since my brother in law (who's gonna paint my plastics for me) doesn't have a job, and/or works part time for me now. Chrome takes forever out here, but they do a good job. Most of the chrome shops are into re furbishing bumpers. No shit. Acres of bumpers ready to trade to insurance companys and body shops. Out of the 3 shops locally that I can use, all 3 are usually busy as hell. I'm going to bust my ass to get things moving. I want to go so bad. The 530+ miles (about 7.5 hours) doesnt bother me since St Anthonys is like 300. About 3 more hours is all. I got another 3 big orders in my shop that I have to fulfill, and its getting deeper and deeper. Its getting to the point that I have to train my dad to run one of the lathes so I can OD grind. Don't know whos going to be doing his work while he's doing my work. I'm probably going to be making my swingarm components on saturdays and sundays. Its looking more and more like 7 day work weeks for the next little while. -
I agree with . Half the strokes Twice the power All (of) the fun ("all the fun" sounds redneck-ish to me. Or kinda like that "all your fun are belong to us" sort of deal.) My favorite bumper sticker is any one that the owner of the car has actually applied to the body of the vehicle instead of the bumper or rear window. I just think of the day they go to remove that lame thing and hack up their paint.

There isn't really anyway to keep mud from getting on anything after you ride through it. I had a bad experience with dog shit once that I won't get into. As far as removing the fenders you either take the whole thing off, (unless you get Maier fronts) or hack them off into a sleek dune dragster style.

A stock flywheel from Yamaha is just about $370, depending on which website you check. HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!! I damn near fell out of my chair....There doesn't seem to be $370 worth of anything in that flywheel, other than the "where else you gonna get one?" factor.

Quick>help Removing Chain...
Cotton eyed Joe replied to Banshee0028's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Exactly. Basically you are just pulling the master link plate off. Once its off, just kind of wiggle the thing around and it should come off. I've had mine off and on about 12 times in the last week. When you put it back together don't worry about the oring staying on the link. Just put in on there somewhere, press the link plate back on and put on the retaining clip. One good rule to remember is if its too hard, you're doing it wrong. -
I got my head milled from DAB racing for $45.00. Got the fly wheel lightened for like $20.00. Best two mods for that price ever. Going by just the cold cranking pressure Dave took my head to about a 20cc from stock. He said its as far as he could go. He also had to rechamber the domes for proper squish clearance. On the flywheel lightening thing, I've thought of building the tooling to do this in on of my CNC lathes. How much is a new flywheel??

LOL!!! Mike, my cure is in the prevention. I don't drink like I used to. I had 2 drinks last night and that was it. I have a fridge full of alky, but the desire to function over rides the need to drink... HAHA.... It used to be the other way around. A hang over is caused by dehydration. Drink about 1/2 gal of water when you wake up. Nurse some through out the day. Drink some water with your alky too every now and again. It should help. Don't know exactly because I don't drink enough to get a hang over. Also, don't drink so much water that you are going to piss your self while you sleep. It would be bad enough waking up in someones tub, than to add piss stained clothes to the equation.

I should have some in a week or so to send to chrome and powdercoat. Don't know how long its gonna take to chrome them (1.5 weeks maybe?), but the ones I have powder coated will be about 3-4 days turn around. Hope to have some up on fleaBay here soon....A little more exposure wouldn't hurt either. I just don't have any for sale yet. Got some billet though. EDIT** The wife and I talked about it (She brought it up actually) and she wants me to go, but she won't be able to make it. But she said she'd do what she can to get me some $$$ so I can go play. -
Its easy. Do this: Cut your swing arm 2 inches. They are fairly easy to pull and balance. I can ride along at 85 mph snap my throttle and balance one up to about 125mph, but then it gets windy and i have to back off. For real. You got to have nuts the size of pumpkins to be on one wheel (out of 2 no less!!!) at 180+ mph.

Here's a picture. I used a 3" cut off wheel. Then I used a sanding block and some 220 grit followed with some 400 grit to smooth out the cuts and round the edges. I used a tape to measure in from the edge where to cut at the top and bottom of the plastic, and then laid some masking tape down. When I cut, I did about 1/2 first so there wouldn't be so much plastic in my way. Then when I cut the second I had a little practise on how the wheel was going to react. It worked out pretty well, and I got burned by a lot of flying hot plastic. Wear saftey glasses.
