  1. its mind boggling why someone would waste a single moment putting yz400f in these turd bucket boat anchors. more baffling is that dipshit tryin to use the harley mtr. i feel like chugging 10gal of cyanide to ease the pain from this stupidity
  2. right away theres numerous things I see that lead me to believe its probly a hodge podge someone threw together. honestly might not of even been the same person that grinded both sides. maybe they burned down one side and the easiest thing was pickup another 'ported' jug off ebay. impossible to say what may have transpired. but overall I would say it was probly a newbs hand in there. I see the classic signs. quick sanding roll in the exhaust. sharpen the trans divider. grind out the intake based on a photo they found on the interwebs
  3. it doesnt sound like you spent one moment in the garage to figure it out or itb fixed by now
  4. flywheel key would affect both cylinders. check it if you want but I don't believe its your problem with backfiring and a dead cylinder I would probly first look at cdi and coil. if your using any Chinese ign parts I would suspect those very first thing
  5. push that pile off a cliff and forget about it
  6. are they in violation of any patent law ?
  7. what do you expect. Chinese fuks make copy of everything. surprised it took this long
  8. some states atv can be liscenced for street use. seems like i seen some in phoenix. ive seen them in other cities also
  9. he said tarmac riding. if that meens track racing then i wouldnt bother with a fan either. if its city driving then for sure a fan and even some ducting around it, if possible
  10. one of these should fit I would think http://www.trailtech.net/digital-gauges/tto/digital-fankit/universal-fan-kit. good decision about the electric waterpump
  11. if the person has zero mechanical ability then ya its probly tricky and ovr their head.
  12. been there bro, rebuilt em before. besides some small nuances, most rear shocks are all very similar. the op wants a rebuild, not a shim pack adjustment. dont make it complicated when it isnt again, who the hell in their right mind would buy a used shock of unknown condition. sure it may last 4yrs but it may shit the seal out tomorow.
  13. u sayin the OP is stupid and couldn't figure it out ? haha im sure its not to complex judging from a parts phish, probly a circlip in a groove of the shock body, that's how other shocks are. but sounds like he doesn't want to attempt it.
  14. to bad the Yamaha manual isn't like the Honda. shows how to take apart the suspension. but anyway rear shocks are pretty easy. release any nitrogen. take spring off. take out adjuster knob on reservoir and pour out oil. probly be a circlip or something holding the seal head in and the whole rod assembly comes out. replace parts and fill with oil then nitrogen to recommended pressure. problem with ebay is you don't know if what your buying is any better than what you have
  15. ultra black works good. urban legend says don't use it but its horseshit. maybe the cases weren't dropping down to begin with so they blame the sealer
  16. how did 4strke get throw in the mix?
  17. maybe all rtv doesn't work. theres quit a few varieties so I don't know. the black does work good. used it on numerous engines. gas and methanol. if it didn't work believe me it would be in the trash. not sure what the grey stuff is but the red looks like it says ;resists gasoline and antifreeze; but the package is effed up so its hard to read
  18. yep. way to many people lose sleep over this shit. a bunch of sealers out there that work just the same. permatex ultra black I use on everything from head, base, crankcase, intake gaskets. most the rtv that ive seen (black, red, gold) is petroleum resistant. motoseal, and all the Honda/Yamaha/suzuki bond works also but its a bit less viscous than rtv. like claud said its not rocket science
  19. had a Honda while back and stacked two .020 base gaskets then did the port and head work based off that. sold the bike and forgot to tell the guy about the little stuff I did to it. hope he figures it out when he decides to rebuild it. dumd shit like that can make quit a difference if its not put back together how it was before
  20. nothing against your buddy but that's what can happen when a good running engine exchanges hands. parts get swapped and it goes down hill from there. reinstall the same gaskets and domes as when you had it , seems to be the easiest fix
  21. its hard to say man but .058 seems awfully large for any engine. im using far less on my 500cc single fwiw. a wiseman once said that if theres no fuel left in the squish band then theres nothing to detonate so take that for what its worth. what does his piston top look like ? as you probly know, theres a long list of things that can cause combustion problems. does he know any other variables besides the gap is .058 ? maybe hes got a converging band. send it off to a shop for a thorough inspection
  22. if the piston isnt almost kissing the head then its probly to big. another thing that can really cause problems is stinger diam to small. ive burned the bottom of a few pistons from it. when benol scorches to the underside u know shits getting hot
  23. adding in more fuel is a poor way to try and fix the problem. the root cause is usually something else, timing/fuel/comp like you say. adding more fuel is just a aaron rogers hail mary with 1sec left on the clock, in hopes that it might some how work. theres a handful of other things you forgot to mention claude. poor chamber design (most folks probly have to large of squish gap), head and plug cooling is shit (the reason im against the coolhead style heads), sufficient cooling around the exh passage as it will otherwise just pack more heat back onto the piston, the stock pump impeller im not convinced will push enough water at a fast enough rate, depending how experienced the porter is the transfers might or might not have some cooling on the piston top
  24. damn couldnt even point a brotha in the right direction with tires and gear. how sad is that someday jt probly realize all his tss isnt even tss. until then just accept the little temper tantrum sandbox kid
