Please help? Need experienced banshee owner advise?
ticktock replied to cline's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Welcome to BHQ!! Currently you set up is good. If you were going to throw 1500 at your banshee, I recommend going ported with everyone else. Lots of classy sponsors here so do not be afraid to ask them. You can run stock carbs for your build and you have a cool head already. 4mil crank - $425ish Porting stock cylinders - $350 New seals, gaskets - $45ish? 4 mil cut domes - $80-90 Pistons - $200ish Thats a quick estimate. Keep watching the forsale areas lots of great parts come through here, just have to watch for good deals. Try and stay away from eBay buying parts there are some real tools on there Adam -

It's cool man you can talk trash, I have thick skin and nothing to prove. Yes this account is 3 months old. I originally joined in April 2006. For the last 6 years I have spent 1400 days in Afghanistan and Iraq. So when I finally unpacked my storage unit in Aug I started working on the shee again. I had to start a new account because my dumbass can't remember anything for shit. 34 yrs old and a brain like Swiss Cheese. Sorry! Anywho, back to banshees. Only thing Yamaha ever made that was worth a shit! Lol Adam -

Na, I just can't stand when someone has a legitimate question and 1 or 2 people that do nothing but talk crap chime in. If the only posts that you ever make are trash talking go away. If the questions are totally stupid : what's better blaster or banshee? Then by all means flame away, lol. If the question is covered in every topic on the site and you didn't search, then flame away. But come on N2 has never made a realevante post on BHQ. Heh Adam -
He is talking about a bushing that is molded to the fuel tank. Not much you can do I'm afraid. You could remove the bolt and bushing, get some double bubble epoxy and try epoxying the bushing in a larger hole. You will have to drill the hole out bigger. Then thread the bolt to the bottom of the bushing back out the bolt 1 tread and pack with Vaseline. Then fill the hole with epoxy. If it was me I would look at finding a tank. If I was going to fix, I would try drilling smaller holes in the plastic at an angle to give the epoxy something to go into. Spray with denatured alcohol or ether to clean and remove all moisture from the plastic. Hope that helps. Double Bubble is quick set 2 part epoxy. It is very good stuff there are many epoxies but I like DB Adam

Quit being a dick in every post you make. -
Micrometer, #2 Philips screw driver, 6mm socket, and a flat screwdriver. That's all the carb tools I use Adam

If you are looking for reliability, speed, torque and awesomenees from the factory you should go KTM. If I was changing from a banshee to a 4 stroke that's where I would go. Adam

Looking for a set of stock ported or un ported cylinders
ticktock replied to DBR06Banshee10's topic in Wanted
795 pistons are for a stroker right? I have 513's in a stock stroke. Adam -
One of the problems over looked is the pickup gap. Set this to 20 thousandths. The second thing is air leaks between the carb and cylinder. When the motor is cold the fuel atomizes differently and air leaks can play a role in hard starting. Leak down, pilots and pickup gap are where I would start. Adam

Banshee 3 piece Stator Cover Bearing Support
ticktock replied to Poolman's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Welcome then Check eBay for prices, good deals and so on. Purchase from site sponsors. That's how I do it. Troyzstang was looking at doing a group buy on some stator covers. Not sure on the pecan ones though. Adam -
You can do this yourself very easy. The banshee is one of the easiest motors to disassemble. Honda bond, Yamabond or permatex Aviation form-a-gasket sealer are what you should use to seal the cases. Use a thin layer not a 1/4" bead. I use Aviation Permatex, it is awesome and I have never had issues. Do not use any RTV permatex, heh. Like others said. Go slow, tag parts. It's easy. There is a manual download in my sig. Adam

Banshee 3 piece Stator Cover Bearing Support

Chariot is the way to go man. Contact Rootracing through a pm. He has the chariot parts. Just to clarify, bearing support is not needed for the average banshee. This was designed for the high HP motors. You can save money by going a different route unless you have a 10 mil +. They do look snazzy though. Adam -
A lot of the top racers are using Ceramic Crank bearings. Some of those guys have 2k invested in their CRF 450 in just bearings. When at the national level, everything is the same on a bike and they need all the edge they can get and that comes with small improvements that gain a tenth of a foot of torque, ceramic bearings are just one way to reduce the friction. If those bearings only lasted a moto or it is doubtful they would be using them, being they are expensive. Most ceramic bearings produced are ceramic coated steel balls. The best ones are hand made of course. If TZ bearings are not good for the side pull they why use them? Koyo bearings are some of the best on the market. They were specifically designed for the applications, Cranks, PTO and so on. Most bearings are designed for their application by the manufacturer and then there are re-manufactured bearings for each application. Wouldnt that mean that OEM bearings are held to a higher standard? I might not know what I'm talking about but it seems logical to me.

I am still looking for a couple of parts ASV Levers Adjustable Extended Axle, Durablue? Thanks, Adam

Did you know, when an all steel ball bearing rotates, it creates static load with in itself, holding it back from rotating freely ?? So the more balls in the bearing the more static load it is going to create. Wouldn't it be better to invest in some high dollar ceramic bearings? Adam

new motor break in and bottom end oil?
ticktock replied to miikey37's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I hate when people say ride it like you stole it crap. It is a mechanical object. The rings are new. The piston is new. You should do heat cycles. Start it, allow it to warm up. Take it for a ride 0-1/4 putting around and then shut it off and allow the engine to cool completely. Do this a total of 4 times. Adding 1/4 throttle each time. After you have completed the 4ish heat cycles ride it like normal for atleast a tank of gas and then consider it broke in. I have done this many times and my motors last many hours. My 250r has a ton of hours on the piston and cylinder and still within spec. Maybe 400hrs? It is still the original piston and rings from factory build in 1987. Everyone's way of breaking in is the best. It mimics how you pack your parachute. As long as it opens and everything works correctly you can pack it how you want. But there are a few specific things that you should do to keep it working correctly. Extra oil is not exactually the right thing to do. Putting more oil in your fuel changes jetting and if you are jetted for 40:1 (a pint to 5 gal) then 20:1 will lean out your fuel mixture causing less fuel and can damage the motor. Keep the same mixture you are jetted for is key. Adam -

Why are you being an asshat? -
Are you running a stock air box? You can get a K&N power lid. Jeff at FAST sells the at a great price. It also has the outer wear for the filter. I run stock box with KN filter and the power lid. I get 0 water in the box, and plenty of air flow Adam

Vitos Superstock or Wiseco Pro Lite?
ticktock replied to esseclipse's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I had Super Stocks in my Banshee at 64.5 they are a decent piston. You can ask Surfjag, it ran good for a stock motor and had great power. It is up to you. If you want to try it, they work. I wouldn't say I swear by them but they are a good piston that adds a little bit to the power of your stock motor. Adam -

http://bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=126456&pid=1105725&st=0entry1105725 Another 2-1 dyno Ya I ended buying the base for 600. So I now have 1200$ invested in a running 450r lol, going to sell it after I ride it and make sure it is reliable. I was going to put the motor together on the banshee tonight but my Yamabond is hard for some reason. I went to autozone/advanced and neither of them carry aviation dealer so I will goto napa tomorrow and I should have the shee ready for the weekend. Ported cylinders, cool head 20cc, CPI pipes, new clutch basket, ezshift kit. It should be strong now Until something else breaks. I also bought a set of works fronts for dirt cheap! Valves for 165-180 rider. Lol, I cleaned up on those I need to sell my dirtbike so I can buy a crank and cylinder. Lol Adam -

Hey Troy, I saw the post. I agree at wide open it feels like it is running out of gas. I purchased a billet bowl from Chariot through Rootracing. He is a good guy to deal with and his prices are better than their eBay store. Chariot also makes a better design. It uses te mikuni boot. If I stay single I am going to use that I will let you know my findings on my tweaked setup this weekend. -
Welcome to the forums!! I am originally from lower Quebec - you know Vermont. Lol, I grew up on a dairy farm in Berkshire. If you need anything let us know we're here to help. Adam
