421 Carbs, Pipes, and Clutch
bluebanshee98 replied to Z400Banshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i would not give that shop the cylinders to port....... im not saying they dont do good work but you can be assured to get a excellent port job from one of the site sponsors and you will know exactly what your getting. shearers or cpis will be the pipe you want for your cub. im guessing your going to be running pods for filters. if not then the shearers will not fit with the stock air box unless they are custom made. cpis will work fine with the air box. imo if your gonna have a cub motor you should run pods, drag port it and use shearer pipes for starters -

bluebanshee98 replied to 209 banshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
at your elevation and mods list you will prob be at a 300 main, 27.5 pilots in cold weather and a 270-280 main in summer weather. thats a good start right there. a plug chop will tell alot about your jetting. see whats in there first and let us kno -

thats great cuz then your have one of the best shees around where you are haha. i had fmf fattys on mine before i got the shearers and i love the shearers ALOT more then the fmfs. stock carbs are not bad at all. you can run 70hp all day with them. i ran them with my shearers no prob for awhile. got a good deal on some 35's so i had to get them. you will have no issues what so ever running stock carbs with the shearers. i would bump your main jet up one size more then what you would usually run when u get the pipes. at 85 degrees out my jetting was 340 mains, 27.5 pilots air screw 1.5 turns out stock needle in middle postion at a elevation of about 2-400 ft above sea level and running k&n pods. plug chop showed it was dialed in perfect. not sure where your from but due to the colder temp your gonna prob be at a 360 main to be safe. also not sure if you know this but you can not use the stock air box with the shearers. you have to use pods as the stingers go inward and wont fit with the stock air box. however if you want i believe matt can custom make them to run with a airbox but thats something you will have to talk to him about. -

cam is building my 10dm as we speak. great guy right there. dont be on the edge because of "drag pipes".... shearer inframe small bore pipes offer great mid to top and good over rev which will be good for your port job. correct me if im wrong but you went with a dune/play port because u wanted more mid and top end right? if so the pipes will compliment the port good. i trail ride my 4 mil with shearers all day long. some have had better fitting issues and some have had it fit fine but imo its a great pipe performance wise. give cam a ring he will tell ya about them. it basically boils down to what you want. if you want some more mid and top then the shearers are the way to go -
^ x2 also how about your spark plug caps? are they on nice and tight? i had a hesitation near the upper rpm range that actually sounded like a streetbike when it hits the rev limiter. i thought my caps were tight but they were not. new caps fixed that problem. get a video of it if you can. you know how they say pics are worth a thousand words well videos are worth a million words . if your back firing it could be a air leak or something electrical

i agree the 4 mil is great for trails. i have one myself. if you would like some more topend power which will compliment your mid-top port nicely get some shearer small bore pipes. i think they sound nasty if you ask me. heres a link if you want to hear em youtube.com/watch?v=EYrX3Bnfo9g&list=UU5HjRHiKrhAfju_c46keNyw&index=5&feature=plcp and heres some unstamped cpi's on a stock stroke bike with no porting youtube.com/watch?v=NkvhIOrpGq0&list=UU5HjRHiKrhAfju_c46keNyw&index=3&feature=plcp see arnt u happy u joined the forum now?? -

do you cry and leave your banshee stranded if it breaks too? yes people are rough around the edges over here but its all in good fun. if it was not for the forum ALOT of people would not know about the site sponsors and everything else the forum has to offer. and yes u joined because of the good info the site has to offer and yes there is the shit talking too so get used to it if your gonna stay. if u really like the sound of the 2-1 then go ahead with it. you know how it will be. imo get drag pipes and hear her really scream! dont take posts like this over the internet too seriously.... its the just the internet bro. try to understand where the others are coming from with built up bikes.... you dont see monster built banshees with a 2-1 setup for a reason. 2 pistons, 2 pipes, 2 carbs ect ect... you follow? -
i have my fronts cut away like toytechs pic he posted. exactly the same. it looks bad ass if you ask me. my avatar pic is old so dont mind that but it does look good imo. i have pods on my shee so i dont really ride in water or muddy ass shit. its like chrome parts.... u dont get it because you really need it you get because it looks good

Fuel pouring out of overflow, how to fix?
bluebanshee98 replied to 01bansheefox's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
does it keep doing it if you ride it around? mine did that before ( rode it around a lil bit and it stopped) i shut off the bike and kept the gas on and it did not pour out like it did at first. float may have been stuck -
im guessing you have stock carbs and have aftermarket pipes since you wanted to change your main jet to a 270. put that 270 back in there if you have pipes, your gonna blow it up with stock jetting. clean both carbs mains pilots ect and assemble back together. make sure you have the right fuel bowl on the correct carb ( yes they are different!) one fuel bowl has a lil brass ball on it and that goes on the carb with the choke lever. also there is a tube that connects the 2 carbs together. if it is not connected properly it will not choke the bike properly. make sure gas is on, key is on and handle bar switch is on. pull choke out and hold it out by hand and kick it. sometimes the choke goes back in which is why i suggest holding it out 100% by hand

what problems are you having? i rode my buddys yfz450. it was fun and a nice bike. idk maybe its just me but i like something with a real powerband and trust me my buddy had parts break alot on his 450
-
If you have no air leaks, its jetted properly and you do normal maintance like you would any other quad the banshee is very reliable. Understand that old parts will break like on any other quad. No other quad will you the arm ripping power that a banshee can

bluebanshee98 replied to g-force's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I am also having the same problem and I have the same mods and exact setup as g-force. The problem is when in gear in a lower rpm and speed and from basically no throttle to wot it bogs out. At higher rpm and speed its fine. I put the needle clip on the bottom and it seemed to help some what. I'll try to make a video on the go pro tomorrow so you can hear it guys -
the plugs didnt look too bad from the pics so keep the 320 in there for now since its cold out. is your choke cross over tube connected good between the 2 carbs? also make sure when you pull the choke out that you hold it and keep it pulled all the way out with your hand and kick it over when cold starting. my choke used to go back in on my stock carbs sometimes and didnt fully choke it like it should. are your intake boots old? boost bottles are know to crack intake boots over time and cause air leaks. ditch the boost bottle, get a stock cross over tube, get new intake boots and gaskets while your down there. use a gasket sealer like yamabond semi drying liquid gasket for an example and use on both sides of the gaskets. if you have no air leaks, good compression, good spark and getting fuel it should start right up pretty easily when cold if choked correctly .
