  1. Yeah I've read about more happy customers with Kevin than anyone here. He will set you up good, and tell you the exact jetting you will need.
  2. Does anyone here run cooler than stock plugs? I just have 21cc Cool Head/T5s, PWK 28s, dyna FS. Im still pretty new so I thought Id ask. Thanks, Tim
  3. Definately need bigger main jets about 155. Plus you are at 20CC domes? The smallest I have ever heard reccomended is 21cc on pump gas. I would throw in a gallon of high octane per every 5 gal at the minimum if I were you (unless you enjoy doing rebuilds). Good Luck and keep us posted on your results! .
  4. Or too low Octane for the compression that you are running. My comment on what happened: The guy was probably telling the truth about it having new pistons. He probably put new exhaust or did some other type of upgrade to the bike, didn't adjust the jetting at all, or adjusted it improperly, blew a piston, got nervous because he didn't know WTF he was doing, and put new pistons in and sold the bike without correcting the root cause of the problem (lean/poor jetting). Im speculating a bit, but this type of thing happens al the time. The wierd thing is that these bikes are pretty easy to work on, and jetting is pretty easy. Keep us posted on your progress, and I agree with the above reccomendations. Once you get the new top end reassembled (it would be a great time to do some porting if your budget allows it), definately put in bigger jets (Id go 2 sizes at least to start with), and then re-chek your jetting (by checking the plugs). When you get your replacement parts from a forum vendor/shop, they will be able to also sell you the right size jets for your setup. That's the good thing about the forum vendors, they already know what works. Good luck and keep us posted.
  5. There are people here running 50:1 I believe. I think any quality 2 stroke motor oil is fine. I use Yamalube for now, but I may switch to Liqui-Moly (its german) when my Yamalube runs out. Im overseas, so my selection is a bit limited (middle east). 32:1 seems like a good number to be, I know that 24:1 seems on the oiley side, and I imagine would be more likely to foul plugs.
  6. It sounds like you are maybe new at working on bikes? The good news is the Banshee is easy to work on. If its only running on one cylinder, you need to check for spark and fuel, I would pull the spark plug on the cylinder that isn't running, insert the spark plug into the spark plug wire, and start it up. See a spark? Then you probably have a dirty carb, and the carb needs rebuilding. Carefully take off the suspect carb, and clean per the manual. If these don't fix the prob, get a compression tester, and check that cylinder. Compare the results with the good cylinder. Good luck and keep us posted. If you get stuck, just ask, we will help you figure it out.
  7. +++++++++ I agree! I happen to be lucky enough to have a 2009 Z06, and a 2011 camaro SS. There is no way I would trade my Z06 for 2 camaros, let alone one. However, you gotta do what makes you happy. There is no way turbos make a camaro perform anywhere near what a Z will do. I guess unless you are a drag racer, then you might get close, but it's like a 600 lb difference, and the handling of a Z06 is just incredible. I put a nice clear bra only Z, and I didn't lower it at all, and I always back in when parking. It clears most everything with no problem in South Florida, you just have to be a bit cautious, and go in at an angle in certain areas. Having said all that, the Camaro is a great car, and I hope you enjoy! PS- the Camaro clears just about everything!
  8. There are like 7 new 2011 banshees at my local dealer here in Saudi. I paid about 5k for my brand new 2009. If this guy is real, it's a rip off price.
  9. They are rounded off and smooth. I don't think they will wear holes in the filters? I have this question as well.
  10. Curve 4 is stock . Yeah but I didn't get the programming kit. I have 91 octane, sea level.
  11. The stock curve is on the chart I posted. According to Dynatech, the Dynatech FS raises the Limiter, and increases spark energy as well as adjusting the timing (so I assume the stock Ignitions box has a rev limiter?)
  12. Thanks, the color scheme wasn't my favorite at first, but it's really growing on me. Im very happy with the upgrades. I ride in sandy trails, and I really don't think more power would benefit me at all right now, since I have little to no traction in the first 4 gears, just a big ol rooster tail behind me. Its plenty fast for now. I will consider new reeds whenever the next round of upgrades comes, which will be in quite a while (probably at least a year). The next round will probably be be a ported 4 mill and the reeds. The dynatech is basically a more expensive way to add some timing, it just adds and takes the timing away in a more progressive manner than modifying the factory timing plate. Here is a pic of the curves that are available (I didn't get the custom programming kit). Mine is set on curve 3, which pulls very strong, and smoothly.
  13. I have K & N pods with outerwears. What size jets u runnin?
  14. I don't know what your budget is, but I LUV my Keihin PWK 28s. Bolted them on, started 2nd kick, easy to jet, and pulls smoothly. Nobody with a fast Banshee seems to have a single carb setup, and everyone that has years of experience with the Banshee uses dual carb setups. Good luck and keep us posted on your results.
  15. Well I finished the following Mods to my 2009 Banshee: Engine: Toomey T5 Pipes Keihin 28MM PWKs/K & N filters NOSS Machine/Fast Cool Head (21cc domes) Dynateck Ignition Box with #3 timing map Suspension: Elka stg 2s with piggybacks LSR +2+1 A Arms G force +4 Axle Braided steel brake lines I haven't installed the Flex Bars yet. My review: Wow! The motor really rips now! I have like no traction what so ever now! On paved areas it want to wheelie really easy in 1st and 2nd gears now! Im very happy. I luv the PWK 28 carbs, easy install, setup, and very smooth and responsive. I think the jetting is just about perfect, with main jets at 155, and 47 low speed. I think it may be just a hair rich, as it top gear from low RPM it isn't quite as crisp rolling on as I would like, smooth but could be a little more crisp (if that makes sense) so I may go down a size just to see how that works. I pulled the plugs and they are colored medium brown. The Suspension is like night and day, the banshee used to beat me up like crazy, and I would slow down a lot when I hit bumpy sections out of fear and a little bit out of pain. Now it just soaks the bumps up like crazy. Coming off small jumps is a non-issue, lands very nice. Im fairly new to the ATV scene, but man does this thing handle and ride nice now. Its like I don't even know if I need the Fast Flexx bars now. Here are a few pics from after my test ride today:
  16. I just installed a FAST racing cool head by NOSS machine. Seems to be the most popular. It went on fairly easy. Seems high quality. I fire it up today to look for leaks, and test it out. I went with 21cc domes for pump gas. There is a jetting sub forum with a thread listing all different jetting sizes for different setups. You can find a setup close to what your setup will be and buy jets that size, and maybe one or 2 bigger and smaller, and you should be set.
  17. I'm in the middle of my first round of upgrades as well. When I asked the same question, everyone said bolt ons first. Bolt ons are usually considered intake, exhaust (of course you already have), followed by timing advance (4 degree) and cool head to increase compression for whatever fuel you are running. Of course you need to adjust your carb jetting to run well with these changes. Next step is porting the cylinders. Good luck and keep us posted on your upgrades.
  18. He'll with that! Post it here! Welcome to BHQ!
  19. Me too... I haven't ever owned an ATV before, and I wish I would have gotten one years ago. I guess now I can play catch up! Welcome to BHQ! Its a great forum, and all your questions get answered here, keep us posted on what you decide to do with your Banshee!
  20. Some more info for you: It looks like the PWK 28s come with 135 main, 38 idle. You will more than likely need something around 150-155 range with around a 48 idle, based on your mods. It also depend on your altitude. Check this out: http://www.pjmotorsports.com/keihin-pwk-carburetors.html Hope this helps.
  21. Depends on where you got the carbs. Some vendors set them up for your specific application. I got mine from forum sponsor PJMotorsports. They specialize in Carbs, and put in Jets that should be a close match for my setup. Im not sure what the standard size jets that come withe the PWKs. 22cc domes are good for pump gas setups is what my research here came up with, Im doing a lot of the same mods you are. heck out some of my posts here, as Ive asked a lot of the questions you have already, and got some very helpful answers.
  22. Those shocks are really no good. I will tell you what, I will trade you my stock shocks as a favor to you. Just Kidding! Ohlins is like one of the best in the world, looks like you got a great deal on the Banshee, and it will be a fun project! You going to restore it completely? Keep us posted! These bikes are fun to work on, and more fun to ride!
  23. Dude pay him his fee for diagnosing your problem and GET UR FRICKIN BIKE BACK FROM HIM!!!!! U can save SO MUCH money and know it's been done RIGHT instead of letting this guy ASS-RAPE U! Take it from me, I'm new to the banshee, but they are easy to work on. If you don't want to tear into the motor, just pull it out of the frame, box it up very carefully, and send it off to Herr Jugs, or some other BHQ sponsor, they will take care of you, you will save a lot of money, and it will br done right. Good luck and keep us posted.
  24. Doesn't look very clean. I wonder how many hours since the mods? Not a bad mod list. I wouldn't buy that one unless the price was super good. Is it nasty in person? There are lots of banshees in FL on CL.
