I am going to try a set due to my VF3 cracking and not sealing again. I replaced 2 sets in a year and fed up.
-
I just took them off and the first thing I noticed is when I looked through the intake I saw daylight between the petals and the cage. If I am correct, you shouldn't be able to see daylight between the petals and cage? this means I might need to replace the reeds but not sure? I didn't really see any cracks what they did have signs of wear on them.

I think that is what I am going to have to do.

I am just wondering if anyone has suggestions on symptoms of bad reeds. I have a 4 mill 421 cub that has a HJR aggressive port job. MY current setup is 5.5 Timing, VF3 reeds, 19cc domes, 35pwk carbs, 152 main, 48 pilot jet, cel needle in 4th clip from top. MY tires are 22.11.8 10 paddle extreams and my gearing is a 13/41 and I ride at sea level. I notice that I had a bog when I try to launch in 2nd when I used to be able to all day long. I figured a 93 hp cub would have no problems launching in second. The only thing I can thing of is bad reeds or my cel needle is to rich or my pilot is to lean? . If I change my needle leaner would it be smart to change to a richer main Jet. It just seemed like it runs a little rich before the power band and once I hit the power band the bike would run like a cub. Fast! dose any one run a leaner needle in there 35 pwks?

421 Serval plug Chop. Opinions.

Its weird but it whoops some ass against the guys that have richer jetting then mine. I really think its the porting that helps me. HJR did a great job. It seemed to like leaner jetting once I got it ported. I am going to pull the reads and switch them out and try a leaner needle then the CEL. -
The trail is pretty good. Just dont fall. its probably 2.5 hrs from Portland. As for a place to live. I couldn't tell ya. The only time I head up that ways is to weld on bridges. If it was me I would look around south of Portland.

We have some kick ass MTB trails. McKenzie River trail is world known and its 27 miles long. Its well worth the drive to come ride it.

I kind of had the same problem with mine but its a 4mill cub with a aggressive port job by HJR. I am running smaller jets in mine, where a handful of guys with the same setup or close to it are running bigger mains. I started at a 160 main, needle in the middle and a 52 pilot jet. I went up and down with my jetting and finally put it on the dyno at Redline racing and ended up at a 152 main, needle in the 4th clip from the top and I went with a 48 on the pilot. It runs real nice. I am fighting a low end power problem right now. I am having a hard time starting/launching in 2nd. It bogs when I try to launch in 2nd when it didnt before. I used to be able the flip the bike on top of me and now I cant. I am going to mess with needle a little and check my reeds. Other then that the bike runs like a cub. -

I would like to go. Are people still wanting to ride or chat back and fourth? I need some more people to ride with.

What weight are the shocks set up for?

I did notice that more were closed down when I was there last weekend. I also heard that some of the pain in the ass rangers got transfer to another state. I am heading there this weekend to try out the new go pro in the tree shots.

Looks a little fat to me. I just got back from Winchester bay on the Oregon coast. I also have a 421 cub with a HJR aggressive port. I have a 152 main jet and I went from a 52 to a 50 pilot because I am getting a hesitation right before the power band. I adjusted the needle to the 3 clip (Cel) and it seemed to get better. Other then that the bike ran real good. I am going to put in a 48 pilot next trip and maybe drop the needle down one more clip.

Look for water as well. There are some pretty good ones.

The 6 inch can even be powder coated. Must be in good shape

I would drop down your main and and bump up your timing. I am at a 152 main, 3rd clip and 50 pilot +7 timing on a ported cub by HJR. I beat the shit out of the motor last weekend and not a problem and my plugs look good.

I almost have the Identical set up as you. Have you used a bigger pilot then a 48?

I have some cpi with cascade silencers to trade.

looking to trade a chrome 4" for a 6" swingarm

Is there anyone interested in ridding at dunes this weekend? Either Winchester or spinreel.

I just picked up another banshee that has a pretty much stock motor except cpi in frames and vf3's and K&N pods. It has the tors still on it. The guy said it might need to be jetted and not quite sure if he new what size jet he had in it. I took it all apart and it had had 310 mains. Needle was in 3rd clip with 25 pilots. It seems to run rich for a stock motor when I start it up. IS this a little rich for riding at sea level with these mods? Thank You.
