  1. hey, i was just wondering about which pipes are best for low-end, mid-range, and top-end, i already know a handful, but i also know theres alot of banshee pipes out there. dynoport? bills? fmf? toomey? dg, lol? pro-circuit? ....etc.
  2. just wondering, what do you guys think my shee would go for, its a 93 with an 03 back shock, yfz450 front shocks, stock and yfz450 a arms, ricks hot shot cdi box, new coil, tors removal kit, a boost bottle, lol i know guys, and a few new bearings.
  3. a honda cr kill switch will work? i might think about doing that if i ever figure out my starting issue.
  4. i took both of the carbs apart, cleaned them, put stock jets in them, then i put new fuel lines on it, and a new choke tube, i did all this before i rode it, but it sat with no gas in it, so it should be fine. i just did a compression test on the left cilinder and it read 97 psi, but i didnt get to do it to the right side yet.
  5. ive had bikes with really low compression, and they run worse or shut off when hot, my banshee runs just fine when hot, this is wierd.
  6. Ive had my banshee apart for about 3 monthes, because it was totaled when i got it, and after doing just about everything to it, although it still needs some things here and there, i got to ride it. its really hard to start cold, and this is with stock jetting on a stock motor, although it does have a Rick's hot shot cdi box, but once its warm, it starts easily. also i know it should be more powerful, it has a fare amount of top end, but it isnt very ballsy or that fast, what could be causing this, thanks.
  7. plus a 250r costs half as much to rebuild, cause it has only one piston, and you can make it a 310 easily, and if you noticed the freestylers from the early 2000's all used 250r's not banshee's, watch HEUVOS III, and you'll know what i mean.
  8. id say go with a 250r, they sell for more then they orginaly cost back in the 80's, and you can get any part for them. banshees are reliable, but i do the same kind of hardcore trail riding with a couple dirt and paved roads inbetween trails, and the 250r is just more reliable.
  9. when i needed heel guards 87sheestillkickin offered some to me at a great price, and when i couldnt find any feedback on him he sent the heelguards and waited for payment until they arrived, now thats a great seller.
  10. i just bought an axle off Zillafreak for a great price, not only was it well described, he packaged it to survive an atomic blast, thanks zillafreak.
  11. matt goes above and beyond the other sellers, he not only gave me a free shock, he also cleaned it up, and all i had to do was pay for the axle bearings and shipping, AWESOME seller!
  12. i just bought two more parts from nasty, a sprocket hub and front fender, and they were again perfectly packaged and described, also with some fast ass shipping.
  13. believe me it doesnt take much to make an 80 go fast, my friends 1987 cr80 has a fresh motor with an fmf fatty pipe and fmf powercore silencer with a v force 3 reed block, and it out accelerates 125 race bikes. the idea about the polini cylinder is stupid and wont work, if youre going down the road of engine work, just get your cyilinder bored out with a weisco pro lite piston, and youd be surprised.
  14. first of all your thread is horribly misplaced, overlooking that, id say the first place to start on any 80 is the exhuast. fmf makes quality stuff, so id see where you can get an fmf FATTY pipe, and fmf POWERCORE silencer, and if you cant find anything from them go to pro circuit or dg if you cant find anything else. the next thing would be the reeds. the stock reeds can already be improved on, and after almost 25 years they'le be worn, so get some boyeson reeds, power reeds, pro series, or super stock. after doing this get a new air filter, but over all things do not do these upgrades if your compression is low, a top end is much more important then going fast for a few hours and blowing up your engine.
  15. my banshees got horrible paint all over, and paint stripper didnt really even get it off, would carb and brake cleaner work better?
  16. huh, i didnt know banshees had rev limiters in them, did they take away any peformance? my bike has a ricks hot shot cdi box, and they previous owner said it was a 93, but im not so sure, would mine have one?
  17. definitly a topend problem, you can fix it by just putting new rings in, because it sounds like everything else is operating properly. i had an 88 yz125 that did the same thing, it would start 1st or 2nd kick and after about 20 min or so it wouldnt idle and if i let it shut off it would be impossible to start until it cooled off enough.
  18. nasty racing sold me a set of headlights for next to nothing, and they were perfectly descirbed, with great photos. ill definitly buy from him again.
  19. i just bought a set of headlights from nastyracing dirt cheap, and they were as described and had good pictures, great seller.
  20. i thought fmf silencers only fit on fmf pipes
  21. dont change the plugs yet, yours are B8ES's, not BR8ES's, 1987-1999 had B8ES's stock, and 2000-2006 had BR8ES's stock
  22. idk what shocks would fit, but you could probobly have matt make your shocks better then new for less then the cost of used shocks on ebay, hes good. your shocks are from 91 theyre almost about to turn 20, its time to have them worked on, my 93's front shocks were blown out so it now has yfz450 fronts on it, and the back was totaled so im in the process of gettin a newer one, but dont get me wrong, rebuilt can be better.
  23. thanks for the help guys, it was actually easier then dirt bike wheel bearings, which are sometimes fused to the hubs. i just took a piece of 1/2 in. thick copper rod, then used the bfh, and the bearings were out in about a half minute. the axle also just slid out which made my job so much easier, lol.
  24. try out a ktm50sx (the liquid cooled one), they have no low or mid power, and theyre auto trannys, but DAM they go fast, those things fly and if youve ever seen little kids racing them profesionaly, theyre good lol.
