Thanks! I think a lot of people will only buy/believe in what they see. This is why i am willing to drive to ok, utah, ky, la to race/ ride. I also make it a point to let people ride my chassis and bikes, this way they feel what they are getting. There are many good chassis builder, most of them on this site that make a very good product. For me sometimes the guy who takes the time to show me rather then tells me gets my sale. Chris

The front end styles are mostly for looks, however some designs lend themselves to different suspensions better(arched works a bit better with a single arm design ). As for swing arms are concerned IMO a std non arched ladder lends itself to triangulation better than a arched arm, but both arm styled are plenty strong enough for most applications including a 140-160 hp bike as you stated. The 5/8 bearing lends itself to more wheel and tire options as well as a minor weight savings. Also the 5/8 bearing is a bit easier to find in a pinch. Most companies we deal with offer banshee taper and 5/8.IMO the banshee taper is a better option for a bike that may have stock style hubs on it in the future. Chris

First answer ! No. I give all my customers a estimated build time. This is fabricating not plug and play assembly. I do my very best to meet all the dates I set for my customers and if I said I've hit every one of them , I'd be a lier. Projects in front of them take longer or ya hit a snag in delivery of materials, unexpected life shit happen so on and so forth. If I'm running behind on a job you can bet I'm not dodging calls , I will explain and give an updated time frame. Life is extremely busy for everyone including myself , this year I have added another employee with multiple welding certs and lots of exp in an effort to be even better at what wheelman does. If this customer needs a guarantee well I guess I might not be the shop for him,BUT if he wants a stand up builder who stands behind there work, answers there calls 90% of the time or returns them shortly after and will do his best to meet whatever goals you have. Give us a shout. WHEELMANCHASSIS 1-734-679-6735

Some of the options offered by most builders are: Full moly frame Hybrid frame single arm front susp or dual arm front susp arched style designs squared off styles different lengths in front Different length swingers Plastic mounts or not Removable front motor mounts or not Different radiator locations Different steering stem designs 5/8 spindles or banshee taper spindles Front brake provisions Different style subframes Provisions for in-frame pipes etc. Some of the questions I ask when talking to a customer are: Where do they ride? what they weigh? what motor? How much track vs dune time will they have? What tires they will most likely be running? What the desired ride quality is(generally determined by where you ride)? What are your goals? I try to get the big picture on everything the customer is trying to do not only performance level, but on a style level also. Fell free to give me a shout ! Chris Owner WheelmanChassis

Turbo, i often tell people that the asphalt is the best place to start learning this stuff. Traction is consistent and its easier to tell what the clutch is doing. Also you might live close to a guy that could help ya out.. Chris

IMO Glazing is something i don't think we will ever eliminate completely, I use steel prep to aid in longevity before this happens. Some signs of this during race day would be consistent track surface(as close as a sand track can be anyway),launch rpm,and clutch setup but 60' starts to fall of and rate of engagement starts to lengthen. On the fly there are things you can do to aid in making it through the race day, but ultimately resurfacing of plates and clutch fibers will be needed. Burnt frictions are a part of every learning curve, caused by the clutch slipping for a longer period of time , lack of adjustment as a clutch wears, lack of cooling or oil etc. I have been messing with some oils and i believe all next season i will be running mobile 4t synthetic 10w40 oil.. its designed for wet clutches and seems to be very consistent. we have 80 ish passes on my 18dm and have had very minimal change to the friction and steel condition. This is with a 8 plate setup on a 155+hp motor. I will be switching to a 10 plate clutch next season and expect even better results. Smearing of the plates has happened to me also (as Brian stated its very rare) I believe it happens when the clutch slips excessively causing a great deal of heat, then getting a secondary amount of weight added forcing lockup in a very fast rate while friction material is in a overheated state. I have seen this in a few competitors bikes while trying to tune a standard lockup and even more so in asphalt racing street bikes. Brian, i am excited to hear your clutch hub opinion as i also do some things to the hub. I agree 100%! In addition a softer base/static setup is more forgiving to errors in launch rpm(if not using a launch limiter, which is a problem in itself) changes in traction, and other variable that you may encounter.. I gave a bit of my opinion above. I think brian will hit on this but oil direction in the hub and surface of the hub - first friction can play a part in cooling. Im still paying attention, just been real busy racing and building... I contribute some of our victory at the bluegrass nationals to clutch tuning, in addition to a very good jockey.
