  1. Yeah I have a few motor mods and they are as follows: Ported Cylinders (BIG ports with boost ports) Milled Head V-3 reeds +4 advanced timing I haven't done anything too radical with it. It made 68 hp on the dyno after I put the new cylinders on it. When I first got the quad, I rode it down my street and back and by the time I got back to my house I had burned it up. The jetting was waaaay off and ran it lean and got too hot. It has def. been a bastard child thus far. The only thing that hasn't been replaced basically is the transmission and crank. They are in excellent shape actually. It has 370 main jets in it now. I'm curious as to if I should blend some 110 octane with my 91 octane??? I heard and its just here say, but if you blend some race fuel with the regualr 91 octane, its better on your engine and makes the motor last longer????? I have no idea if that is true or not, but figured I would ask. Thank you for the kind words guys! Cam, I love them pipes!!! I don't care if its doggy on the bottom end, they look good and I can run the 4 strokes down in the top end lol!
  2. Thanks everyone! Like I said in my first post, I had zero knowledge of building a banshee until I just dove into it and started reading the yamaha manual. It was relatively easy actually. 2 stroke motors are very simple. Its older technology and hasn't changed very much since the first banshee was built. I am def gonna take off my water pump cover this weekend and put some paint on it. That looks good I think. I got the itch to build another one now! I would like to find one with a bad crank or transmission to actually split the cases and look inside the engine.
  3. Yellow on the graphite would look badass!! I'm in on one of them!! I like the graphite color personally. I sent u a PM too btw.
  4. Loco, I'm wondering what "sport grey" is? Is it the dark grey or is it the light colored grey? My personal opinion is the dark grey with yellow lettering, maybe some red in there as well. Just a thought tho.
  5. Great minds think a like! LOL!! How did you paint your waterpump cover and clutch cover? Did you paint them or have them powdercoated?
  6. Heres a pic in the light.
  7. Drew, funny how u mentioned that. I have another set of rims I bought going to my powdercoater this week to get coated black. Thanks for the kind words bud! I'm not to thrilled about my seat on it right now. I think an all black seat would look better.
  8. THis is what it looks like as of now after completley rebuilt
  9. Well I started off with a complete banshee a little over a month ago. I bought a new frame and had it powdercoated along with the nerfbars, bumper, grab bar, footpegs and rear brake lever. While all of that stuff was at the powdercoater, I sanded all my plastics and painted them and prepped for the upcoming task of building a new bike. Once I got all of the stuff back from powdercoat, it only took 2 weeks to build it completley. When I say it took 2 weeks, that is NOT a consistent working on it everyday. I prolly worked on it 3 full days and the rest of the time was a few hrs here and there. I would say the hardest part of the build was unplugging the CDI box lol! Unplugging that and the other electrical components was a B*$ch. Mine had not been unplugged in quite sometime and had gotten sand and dirt in em making it difficult to unplug. I had zero experience building bikes prior to now. All I had was a yamaha manual and basic hand tools and did it. The yamaha manual is a lifesaver. If anyone does not have one, get one. It seems like a dumb investment, but is very thorough and helpful. Im attaching several photos of the before and after pics. When I first bought the quad it had blaster shocks and a severely bent frame and 60 psi in each cylinder. the only thing I did not rebuild or replace were the carrier bearings in the axle. Everything else is either new or has been rebuilt. The pic in this post is what I started with. I am trying to add pics of what it looks like now.
  10. Vellslide I wish I could see you in person so I could blow you a kiss.....baaaaaaahahahahhahahahaha!!!
  11. Oooooh Cam!! I hope u got ur wood screws in....cuz imma blow ur doors clean off baby!! LOL!
  12. aaaaaaaaahahahahahaha!! I love how some of you interpret stuff. Nobody ever said anything about "hitting" a woman, but apparently kickin her outta the house and telling her to go home is a form of "hitting". Then of course the internet tuffguys making ur worthless threats on how you gonna beat someones ass.....baaaaaaahahahahahha!....keep dreamin ladies I love how this story has blown up and several of you lady lovers have gotten all butthurt. I've sat back for several days now just reading all your responses to this and its quite entertaining some of your responses and how upset some of you are. Thanks for the entertainment all you butthurt guys out there. I'll sit back for another couple days and read all your replies. It kinda reminds me of the dudes who wait for a girl to break up wit her boyfriend and you guys are there to lend a shoulder and comfort the ladies and take advantage of a situation. I'm patiently awaiting more responses.
  13. Maybe I should elaborate on this a lil bit. Ever since I got the banshee all I ever hear is: "u spend too much time on that thing and thats all you care about..etc". Of course you all don't know all the details and I'm not gonna give you the 12month history. So I could very well see where some of u could draw the assumption I am an asshole. I may be an asshole, but I take care of my stuff and work hard to get all of my stuff. She too has a quad and knows nothing about it. Her ex still takes care of her quad so of course she doesn't know anything about taking pride or care of something that was built buy urself. And when I say "kicked her out", she went 5 blocks to her house. Yeah I do have a hot head, guilty as charged, but I can't deal with that type of shit too easily. When we got to my house I told her twice to shut the garage door and even showed her where the garage door button was. She was on her phone when she came in talking to her friend and prolly got sidetracked. I can understand that. But when she snickers and laughs when she sees the look on my face....can't handle that at all. Sorry fellas, but I'll gladly take the role of "asshole" on here over dis. She knows how much time and pride I take in my toys and stuff and to laugh isn't acceptable. I had almost a foot of snow in my garage by the time I found it. So the banshee wasn't the only thing covered in snow.
  14. The part that made me totally lose my temper was when she had a huge grin on her face when she was telling me I was gonna be pissed.
  15. Ive been working for weeks on my build of my banshee. 2nite after I took my now EX girlfriend out to dinner, she stays outside in the garage to smoke a cigarrete. I told her twice before I went inside to shut the garage door. My banshee is sitting towards the front of the garage and its snowing and windy here in KS. She comes in and we watch a movie. She goes outside to smoke after the movie and she comes inside and says "Ur gonna be really pissed". I get up off the couch and look in the garage and she didn't shut the garage door. Soooo I got snow all over the place and the engine to my banshee doesn't have pipes on it so you know what that means. I got snow in the cylinders!! I fuckin BLEW up!!! I told her to pack her shit and get outta my face. So I grabbed the shopvac as fast as I could and sucked the snow outta the exhaust ports as fast as I could. I shop vac'd the entire thing off. My airbox was full of snow. Luckily its below freezing so the snow hadn't melted yet and I think I got it all out before it started to melt. I spent a ton of money and time on this thing to all get ruined by some stupid B$%@h who had to have a smoke and was too lazy to shut the garage door. So I spent my xmas eve pissed off and shopvacing my engine off before the snow melted. Ooooh and the best part, I still got the reciepts to all the gifts I got her so I can take all her stuff back and start rebuilding the engine if need b. I told her if the motor was F'd I was gonna take her to small claims court to pay for the rebuild. I'm calling her parents in the morning to get a check from them hopefully. So Merry Christmas everyone, its gotta be better than mine!
  16. Ok, I got a dilemna!!! I got the steering shaft in and all the throttle and clutch cables connected and I realize that the steering stop on the frame is a lil bent and doesn't catch real well (allowing the front wheels to turn further than what they should). Now, with all that in and new steering stem bearings, how do I bend it back without taking all that stuff out? Also, with everything in and assembled, my handlebars will turn the full distance to the right, but when I turn it to the left, it gets tight and won't turn the entire way. I checked all my cables and everything and they have plenty of clearance. What could it be and is there something I'm missing?
  17. The engine is in! Actually the engine was really easy. I left everything attached (electrical, clutch cable etc. ) i zip tied all of it together and pulled it out complete. I had my friend there helping me muscle it out, so it made it a hella lot easier. Today the swingarm and axle are going in. I think its easier to go a step at a time. This is my first complete build and honestly its not that bad. I tried attaching a pic, but its too big and I'm not that computer savy to shrink the file down. So if anyone knows how, lemme know.
  18. I 2nd THAT!!!! I bought my banshee in July and have had issues with it. I have rebuilt the motor twice myself and as of right now I am rebuilding another banshee with a new frame etc....... This forum has tons of info and knowledge from members. Ask and you shall recieve.
  19. Well its time for an update. I got all the a-arms and shocks, tie rods and hubs all transferred over to the new frame. As of right now, I am working on the electrical. I have everything unplugged and the CDI box transferred over to the new frame. The engine is getting transferred tomorrow morning. At that time I will move the steering stem and handlebars over to the new frame and plug everything back in. The hardest part so far believe it or not was unplugging the CDI box!! Holy shit!!...I don't thing it has ever been unplugged and took longer than expected. I will snap some photos tomorrow to show progress. If anyone has any insider info on pulling an engine feel free to chime in. Im just gonna start taking bolts out and pulling the motor as of right now.
  20. I never thought about that. When I replaced the tie rod ends a while back, I used a rubber mallet so I wouldn't mess up the threads. I loosened the castle nut at hit the castlenut with a rubber mallet. AZ customs, do you have a phone # I could call if I don't have any luck? I'm very intimidated by the swingarm and rear axle disassembly. I have a yamaha manual, but sometimes that isn't very useful to me. If someone can explain it prior to me tearing into it, that helps me a lot more. You can PM ur # if you would like to, if not, I totally understand. Thank you for your help thus far. I will keep this thread updated with the progress and pics of the build.
  21. Azcustoms, you are correct. I looked in my manual and that is the size and pitch for all bolts on the chassis. I made some progress this morning, but got hung up on the tierods. I took my front tires off and got the shocks and a arms undone and was just gonna move everything to the new frame. I kept the castlenut on the tierod end at the steering shaft and beat on it with a rubber malet and couldn't get it off. Keep beating on it or is there a trick to get the tie rods off??
  22. I just got my new banshee frame back from powdercoat and I need to tap the holes to get all the powdercoat outta the holes. What pitch are the threads? I know I need a 6,8, and a 10 mm, but wasn't sure what the pitch was so I know what tap to use. If anyone knows, please chime in. Thanks guys, Imma post pics of the build process. I bought a new frame to have powdercoated so I can take a part off of mine and put it directly onto the new frame. I figured this was the easiest way to do it. If anyone also has any experience with a build and has any tricks to tell feel free. I'm not sure where to start though. Should I start at the front and work my way back or put the engine in first and then all the suspension?

  24. Is this the first top end rebuild for your banshee? U said it was a '90 and wow...thats almost unheard of. I put a top end in mine ('01) about 3-4 weeks ago and putting another one in this week due to a collapsed ring. I had 65 lbs of compression in both cylinders prior to the first rebuild. After I collapsed the ring I dropped from 135 to 115 lbs of compression. While you got it apart, I would look at your crank to see if its starting to seperate and look at your rods etc.... Don't be like me and get in a hurry to get it back together and have to turn around and tear it apart a few weeks later.
  25. I think I'm going to take my old cylinders and crank etc. to a friend of mine's shop who builds a ton of alky banshee's. I agree with you guys, this issue should have been noticed a long time ago and corrected. slapping huge jets in it isn't fixing the problem. I'm going by the dealership here in a bit and picking up my stuff and gonna take the motor out myself and drop it off 2morrow at the race shop to put the new crank and seals in. My friend said he'd trade me my cylinders and crank for the complete rebuild. I trust him and his builds have proven his work. I've done a lot of trading and swapping with him and have seen his stuff and his shop and its very well kept. Bottom line is, I'm running outta $$ for this thing and I'm trying to get a deal and good service at the same time. Its hard to do, but if I can't get both, I'll wait and save my $$. My thinking is if I can't diagnose the issue from the top end rebuild a few weeks ago, I'll just rebuild the entire motor with beefier parts so I know what I got and not shooting in the dark here. Thats what I've been doing for weeks and has got me absolutley no where!
