  1. I'm not a huge fan of my t-6's. I like the looks of the CPI's but I don't wanna port the cylinders and tear the damn thing apart again. So with that being said, I'll try and find some t-5's or some exhaust that makes more power than the t-6's. If I could run the CPI's, I would, but I think I'll lose all bottom end power. On the otherhand, a banshee doesn't have much bottom end from what I know (which isn't much). Any thoughts on running CPI small bore pipes on my set up???
  2. I put my quad on the dyno last night and it made 49 hp on a smoked up clutch and running super lean. All I have is T-6 pipes and a bored .030 with wiseco pistons. Everything else is completley stock. My friend is a machinest in town here and he offered to port my cylinders for me for $250. I don't want to get radical with this quad. I would like to get 65-70 hp outta it and still run pumpgas and stock head if possible. I still have the stock crankshaft....so with 65 hp, will I need to have a welded crank? I got a new clutch on order and new pilots to get some more fuel into the cylinders. My goal is to have an all round quad with some power. I only go to the dunes prolly 4-6 times a year so a dune port isn't really crucial. If i could get it ported to just clean up the cylinders and make the flow less restrictive I'd be happy.
  3. I would like to stay on pumpgas just because its a hella lot cheaper. What are "pods"? and yes I'll have to rejet it. I'm good friends with the owner of the yamaha dealership in town and they have a dyno, so I'll prolly throw it on the dyno to get it mapped and tuned properly. How much HP just guessing, do you think I'll have at that point with a dune/play port on shrearer pipes. WIth the Shrearer pipes, I will need the "small bore" pipes correct? ALso, with all that, will I be able to kick a 700 raptor and a yfz 450's ass??
  4. WOW!! I think the dune/play port would work better for me since I only go to the dunes prolly 3-4 times a year. and I could still run the stock head and carbs with shrearer pipes. I think that would be plenty of HP for what I'm wanting. What you think?
  5. Now I don''t want nothing totally radical. I want to be able to beat the 700 raptors and the yfz450's. how much will I need to mill and port with that being said?
  6. I have toomey t-6 pipes and absolutley hate em!! They make NO power whatsoever!! PM me, I would like to speak with ya more about getting more HP from this motor. Do you have to port with shearers??
  7. Yes, I have a stock head. I was just under the impression that a new top end would boost my compression up to around 140-150. What is a stock banshee compression? I want more HP from it after riding it this weekend. I rode my friends 100 hp banshee and WOW!...that was just sickening! I really would like to get a set of CPI drag pipes, but then I gotta re-jett it and other stuff.
  8. My banshee is a bastard child...lol!! I put all new front suspension on it, top end, chain and sprockets, new clutch and other crap. I enjoy messing with it, but damn I wish it would just run solid. The sand def played a tole on my clutch and now I'm looking for a hinson basket to solve all my problems.
  9. Well, I just got off the phone with the dealership where I keep it and they're gonna check it out 2day. I never noticed it before I went to the sand dunes. I know the sand dunes are hard on clutches because ya gotta slip the clutch a lot more 2 get it to move. As for the cylinder pressure, I am going to get the engine to operating temp and then do a compression test tonight and see what it shows up as.
  10. When I did the compression test the engine was cold and yes I had the throttle wide open. The Wiseco pistons are forged pistons therefore they swell a little bit when they warm up, that could have been the reason for only 130 lbs. of pressure????
  11. Ok, so here goes nothing. I am super anal about my banshee and any noise out of the ordinary I immediatley diagnose and fix. Ok, so here is what I have some questions on. I have an '01 and I just rebuilt the top-end two weeks ago. Prior to the rebuild, I ran a compression test and had 60 lbs of pressure in each cylinder. I bored the cylinders .030 and put Wiseco pistons in it. So I ran a compression test yesterday after riding it at sandfest all weekend and I have 130 lbs of pressure in each cylinder. I assumed I would have at least 140 -150 lbs of pressure after a fresh top end rebuild. If anyone has any input, please share. What is stock pressure in each cylinder?. Ok, so on to the next question. I started it and ran it for a while yesterday after putting my dirt tires back on. I noticed a chattering noise coming from my clutch area. Its not the kickstarter either. I know the dunes are hard on clutches, so I might be in need of a new clutch. Has anyone else heard a chattering noise like this? and what did you do about it? If I tear apart, I'm gonna replace the entire clutch with a hinson basket and new metals and front and rear plates with heavy duty springs. The clutch currently in the bike is a stock clutch. Keep in mind, it is an '01. I'm just curious as if what I'm hearing is normal and if I'm freaking out over a little clutch basket chatter? Thanks guys for all the input, Like I said earlier, I'm a worry'er and I would rather spend the money now than get out riding and F the thing up worse and sit with a sad face.
