  1. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!! I took my plastics which were white and sanded them. I started out at a 220 grit and worked all the way up to an 800 grit. I wet sanded every step. After I sanded each step, I let them dry, wiped them down with a towel soaked in some carb cleaner to get all the residue off the plastics. After I got done sanding I bought 4 cans of Kryon fusion. I started out with a light coat and ended up with 5 coats of paint on the plastics. I used the Krylon gloss clear coat, but I was not happy with it due to it being splochy. I ended up taking them to a painter and having him spray em down with a lacqure (mispelled) finish and I think he put 3 coats on. I have spilled gas on the tank cover and have never had any problems with them flaking, bubbling etc.... The only scratch I have in the plastics is on the nose piece where I was in a hurry and pulled the nose clip off and wedged it in between the headlights and scratched one side. Your final product is only as good as the time you take to prep the plastics. If you hurry through the sanding process, you'll have a shitty end product once you put the paint on. Take your time and get your elbow full of greace and start sanding.
  2. OMG!!!! THis is the exact same story as me!! Just a few months ago I was dead set on selling my shitbox and buying a 4 stroke! But I am too damn proud to sell my banshee. I bought it for $1800 and blew it up less than 20 mins after getting it home. I put a new top end in it and took it to the dunes and burned it up within a few hours cuz the jetting was not right. Put another top end iin it as soon as I got back and the cylinders were bored wrong and shelled out another top end. Sooo I bought a new set of cylinders and had them ported and another top end. I smoked a clutch and put a new clutch in it. I put a milled head on it and blew a head gasket cuz the waterpump gear had sheered and over heated it. The list goes on and on for me. But ya know what after all of my shit, I still got less money in mine as it would cost ya to rebuild a 4 stroke. I have replaced everything on my banshee except for the crank. I got what I paid for and that was an $1800 bike. Keep in mind, I bought mine in JULY and all of this stuff has happend since that time. Yeah, it gets old, but its a challenge and when its dialed in there is nothing better!! Hell, two weeks ago, CAMATV and I put another head on mine and replaced the headgasket and impeller and as soon as we fire it up it runs for a bit and dies. I had no spark, so we checked all the electrical and finally pulled the stator cover off and the bolt out of the pickup fell out. Its just stupid shit like that that irritates ya and it can all be fixed. Just do it right the first time and DO NOT RUSH anything. KEEP THE DAMN THING!
  3. Here is another pic. I have 2 sets of plastics and I switch back and forth between the yellow and the red. Here is a pic with the red plastics on.
  4. Here is a pic of mine finally installed.
  5. I was thinking about doing the same thing and add a coolhead to my bike. I currently have a milled stock head. I like the fact that the domes are interchangable. The only thing I DO NOT like about the coolhead's is there are soooo many damn o-rings that could fail. And I haven't done much research on em, but it seems like there is a lot more room for error. Please correct me if im wrong
  6. I could pay you as fast as this afternoon if its something I would like, but I would like to see it prior.
  7. Send me a pic of it. my regular email address is: bandit_5148@hotmail.com or yo can pm me one. Im def interested.
  8. I am wanting a billet stator cover and a billet waterpump cover. I got the $$ in hand, so pm me if anyone has one they wanna let go of.
  9. Just curious as to why you're selling an almost new head??? Did you get something else or go back to stock or something??
  10. Yeah.......Alfie is ok! LOL!!! I'm totally messing wit you Alfie. You're a good dude and awesome to talk to on the phone!! Great guy and nice to work with!! Props BRO!
  11. CaptainHowdie, since you're running away from this, I will add my .02 lol!!! You MUST rejet when you put reeds on. Did you not jet it when you put the pipes on??? What jets are you running now (slowjet and main jet)? Unless you wanna gamble on burning the motor up, I would rejet it. Reeds are easy to put in, DO NOT pay someone to put em in. Take your carbs and carb boots off and put the new reeds in. I have the vforce 3's with t-5 pipes and its still a work in process with jetting.
  12. ZX6r's are badass machines....I got one and will never sell er. There is no price for this motha.
  13. LOL!! I emailed him about it and told him it was terd. As for the LT500 gathering at little sahara, IM THERE!!!
  14. OMG!!!! I just passed out due to the fact it has no filter on it!!
  15. I bet a $100 its the pickup and or coil. Any takers????????
  16. maybe pull the stator cover and see if the bolts didn't come out of the pickup on the flywheel. I had the same problem last week and started by checking the ignition and CDI and all that was fine. So we pulled the stator cover and a tiny little bolt fell out when we pulled it off and it was the bolt to hold the pickup on.
  17. Oh wow!!! This sounds exactly like what I went through back in July when I bought mine, only I paid $1800 for mine and after 3 top end rebuilds, new frame and a couple thousand more, I got over $4k in mine. I didn't know a damn thing about these things when I bought it. I had the local dealership rebuild mine the first time and second time and yes, it was expensive. The last time, I did it myself. I was very intimidated by doing it, but BUY A MANUAL and ASK QUESTIONS ON THE FORUMS. It will save you tons of $$ in the end and besides, its f'n cold out right now and no need to ride it anyway. Just speaking from experience and telling ya what I've learned over the months. Your story sounds exactly like mine. Mine made it down the street and back once I got it home and pooof!!
  18. Yeah Cam and I are tight enuff I try to take the heat when his wife comes out in the shop and asks "so are we not gonna go out tonight since ur still working on 4wheelers?" LOL!! I need a chrome stator cover and waterpump cover...thats ur new task lol!!
  19. Got em put on dis weekend!! Damn I love em!! The softness in the suspension with the stock shocks I like. Now I have never ridden a bike with elka's or any other sort of suspension so I don't have a real educated opinion. I didn't have +2 tie rods, so CamAtv extended my stockers. He cut them in half and took measurements from a set of +2 tie rods and threaded them where he cut them and screwed an extension in em and welded them. They look completley stock and are perfect on length. I will post pics here soon.
  20. Banshee Boy, I want a piece of that "bad ass banshee" of urs on the drag strip! I'll be in Dueces Wild Campground. Just look for the Orange S-10 on alcohol and I'll be there. Oh and Cam, U know I want a piece of you too! LOL!
  21. I just wanted to take a minute to give Cam some props for what all he's done for me. Cam and I met when I first got my banshee and he sold me a set of A-arms since mine were bent severely. After going through the dealership for a while (BAD MISTAKE), I went back to Cam for advice and help with my banshee problems. Sure as shit, everything the dealership has done, Cam and I have had to re-do it. For example yesterday I got a milled head from a local shop here in town and the headgasket was leaking due to not being cut flat or the failure in the waterpump gear and overheating. Cam also fabricated a pair of extended tie rods for me so I could put the +2 arms on. The guy is good. He's always been fair with me on prices for parts and labor. We worked on my banshee for 8-9 hrs yesterday and it was non-stop work the entire time. I'm not going to disclose a price due to the fact that is between Cam and myself. Just as we get it fired and he takes it down the alley and back and I hop on it and take to the end of the alley, I get busted by the local police LOL!! This was 10 p.m. btw! The cop was cool about it, but had us both nervous for a bit lol!! But anyway, if anyone has the pleasure of talking to or dealing with Cam, he does excellent work and is fair.
  22. That looks awesome and the stance is perfect for what I want. I just got mine in the mail this afternoon and keep looking at em wanting to put em now!! I got a used set of fullflight +2 arms for $150 shipped. They are in good shape.
  23. It happened to me once and i just yanked the killswitch and it shut off. My butt puckered water tight on that deal. I didn't want to pull the clutch just so I wouldn't hurt the motor, so i just tried to stay calm and think one step at a time. I'm a firm believer in killswitches though. I went over the handlebars one time and the banshee kept going and after that I went and got a killswitch and put it on. Never had a problem since. Invest in the $35 lil killswitch, its good insurance.
