  1. That happened to me once on the right side one of the reed petals got sucked into the motor and I associated it with an intake leak caused by the crappy boost bottle that came with the bike ripping the intake boot. Everything happened at once and the piston skirt took a dump in the crank case causing the crank to seize on a huge piece of piston. But I replaced everything and have put many hours on the new petals and everything is so far so good. Are your screws maybe too tight?
  2. I believe Vito's sells the kits in both Wiseco models and Vito's own models. I would be getting the Vito's anyways because they don't carry Wiseco cut ones in my bore size (65mm).
  3. There's this hose coming out of the filler cap. That's called the vent line. Pull it through the hole on the handlebar clamp. NOW you're gonna wanna make sure you turn the petcock off (that's the little dial that says on/off/res). And now you're ready to pull the hose off the petcock that is connected to the carburetor. There is usually a little clamp on the hose and you're gonna wanna take that off by any means you see fit. Now keep in mind you might have to pull hard to get the hose off the petcock. Next you're ready to unbolt it from the frame. There are 4 bolts. One in each corner of the tank. Pull those out and remove the tank from the frame. Open the filler cap and pour the contents into an empty jug and dispose of it properly or dump it into your car (it won't mind). Reverse each step for the reinstallation of your freshly emptied gas tank. Good luck! ~Kyle
  4. I've got K&N pods, T5's, and VF2 reeds. It screams as is but Vito's claims an extra 8 HP with their power pistons. I'll probably get them next time I have to rebuild just because I would be buying what I already would have bought but I get a little bit of extra juice, and it's a little cheaper than the top end kit from Motosport I usually get.
  5. Yeah he says they are for stock a-arms and set up for a 200lb rider and I'm about 180 so I'm sure that after a little adjustment they should be fine. But I ride only in the dunes and sometimes the sand is really choppy and rough after a while will they soak up the bumps a lot better than the stockers? After a while of riding in sand like that I get really worn out. ~Kyle
  6. You shouldn't have to touch the pilot based on elevation (please someone correct me if I'm wrong). Maybe adjust the airscrew a little bit. But for the mains I would probably start at about a 260 and work your way down from there.
  7. Not sure if you're into these kinds of graphics. I personally like the Reaper kit. http://www.invisionpowersports.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=98&osCsid=537ef58d28f0405b0aeb1c67b3f2034a They're kind of pricey but they look damn sweet.
  8. I've got a chance to pick up a set of remote res Works shocks for 300 bucks off Craigslist. The guy also has a rear for 150 but I like the way the rear shock feels anyways so I was thinking of picking the fronts up. My question is are they worth 300 bucks? What differences will I feel? I've never ridden a bike with aftermarket suspension before so I don't really know what to expect or if it's all what it's hyped up to be. Any help will be much appreciated!
  9. Well I got bored one day last week and this was the end result. The bike came with cut front fenders and I only like having either both fenders in tact, or no fenders at all. I was kind of taking a chance with this but it worked out nicely in the end - at least I think so Let me know what y'all think
  10. Damn that bumper is sick! It's like a beefcake version of the stocker and that grab bar is sweet.
  11. Okay thanks alot
  12. Yeah that's normal. That's how a 2 stroke motor works. It gets into a certain RPM range where the most fuel/oil mixture is sucked back into the cylinders from the expansion chambers and it gives that boost of power that we all know and love. It is an entirely different entity compared to the Blaster. I had one too and it had no powerband in stock form. It felt like I was riding a 4 poke. That's the reason a lot of people who ride 4 strokes don't like 2 strokes is because of that slight delay when the power hits. But when it his, it hits hard. Also welcome to the HQ, I'm pretty new here myself. ~Kyle
  13. Do you have the Super Stock or the Power Pistons? Can you actually notice a power increase?
  14. Thanks for the link, that was pretty helpful! The pistons are made by Wiseco themselves for Vito's specs though. Since the intake cuts are larger to let more fuel in would it lubricate a little better? Would these pistons still be reliable since they're made by Wiseco? I've grown to trust Wiseco pistons and they are the only ones I've used for rebuilds.
  15. I hear reed spacer plates shift the power down towards the low end a little bit. And they're pretty cheap too. The thicker the spacer plate you get, the more bottom end you get. ~Kyle
  16. Probably isn't getting enough fuel. Bump up the mains 1 size or so and see what happens.
  17. Hey y'all I have been looking around on this forum since I got the 'shee back in April but finally just started sharing some of my experiences with it. I was looking at Vito's parts and I noticed they sell a line of pistons labeled as "Super Stock". They are Wiseco pistons with a little beveled edge on the exhaust side of the piston which I guess is supposed to give the same effect as having your cylinders ported? I was just looking for any insight on these pistons because I was thinking of maybe using them the next time I have to rebuild the top end to squeeze a little extra power out of my bike without breaking the wallet. I currently have T5's, VF2's, the POS boost bottle that made my motor go boom, K&N pod filters, and is bored .040 over. Any help would be appreciated. ~Kyle
  18. That happened to me a while back. The lever wouldn't go down at all, and I couldn't bump start it even in 6th gear in the sand. When I knew then it had seized and when I got it home I tore it apart and the right side piston skirt had exploded into pieces all over the inside of the crank and the thing stopping it from moving was a huge piece of piston skirt stuck under the crank rod that would prevent it from turning over. The stupid boost bottle it came with ripped the intake boot and caused an air leak and made it run lean and blew it that way. Hope that wasn't the case for you. It was a mess. But you'll never know exactly what happened until you tear it down and take a look yourself.
  19. Blasters are a lot of fun! I sold my old '01 to my brother and got the 'Shee now. It was completely stock and those things are so de-tuned it's crazy! I'd get a 14t front sprocket and swap out those balloons for some Razrs. You can swap a Banshee axle and hubs onto the blaster to make it wider and get some wider a-arms. Another thing a lot of Blaster guys do is put a 400ex or 250r shock on the rear and i've even seen Banshee shocks on the fronts. Get a K&N and a good pipe and some porting and/or a 240 kit and that thing will rip. Check out Project Blaster's store for all sorts of parts from exhaust to suspension. They have some pretty crazy MX and flat track blasters on there. ~Kyle
  20. I would assume that it would be fine because riding in the dunes pushes your motor a lot harder than any trails you could ride. If it holds up in the dunes, it will definitely hold up on the trails.
  21. A little late on the reply but when I called FMF they said that the PCII's are not spark arrested but the TCII's are. I asked them about sound also and I was told they both put out approximately 98-100dB's on both the Blaster and the Banshee. And to answer the question on the T5's, they are NOT spark arrested, though you can buy spark arresters that go in place of the exhaust tips of the silencers simply by pulling out the snap rings and changing them. But they are very loud (louder than the FMF) so what you would need to do is contact Toomey Racing for what's called a "Hush Kit" and that will make you legal for sound. Though it is not spark arrested, they do make a version of the Hush Kit that does include a spark arrester, and costs about 60 bucks more. I personally run the spark arrested hush kit on my T5's and I've been checked by overzealous rangers at Sand Lake (93dB limit) in Oregon and have passed every time (and they sound really nice!). Sorry for the long/late post but I hope this helps!
  22. The cable is different. I like my new Cascade extended thumb lever. It's like the ModQuad ones but it's not just flat all the way through, it contours to your thumb so you still have a little bit of grip on the lever. It was only like 30 bucks too.
  23. That happened to me after I lost my old lever and put a new one on it, I just jerked it out and kicked it down with my hand and sprayed some PJ1 chain lube in the crevasse and now it's smooth as glass.
  24. That is strange that it just suddenly cut off like that. I think the only reason for that would be something electrical.Though it can never hurt to pull the top end off and inspect the rings & cylinder walls.
  25. Look closely in the 3rd pic the sleeve is cracked on the outside.
