  1. Lakes does porting, and also has a dyno.
  2. SOBRIETY DOES NOT SUCK!!! Been down pretty much same road as you. Not proud of the fact but I'm living for today and tomorrow. That's what counts. PM me if you would like. Btw, that's a very nice looking 'shee!!!
  3. X-2 on Lakes Motorsports, have known Mike for years. Has helped me on several projects. Has a kick ass deal on E-bay. Don't remember exact details, but it was Weisco, bore, hone, champher ports, gaskets too I beleive, package deal. I think on his e-bay add he payed return shipping. Those of you not local check it out. BTW, he does the boring in house. Also, when I was in his shop couple weeks ago he was running a special on Weisco pistons. Another place in SE Mich is Vitos in Oxford. Have known Paul there for long time also. I think they also bore in house. These are the two I would recomend!!
  4. Could have possibly bent a fork. Or it may be stuck in two gears. Might try holding clutch in, wiggle sprocket back and forth while trying to shift it. Good luck!!
  5. Shipping would kill the idea. On a side note(thread hijack) don't remember what I was using but I didn't read can and missed recoat "window" and had to strip and start over. Sometimes us Men have to read directions, damit!!
  6. No matter who has what, there is always someone faster! Or better!!
  7. If you want a project or hobby go for it. Unless the rest of it is primo you won't make much on it. Crank+rods 550, used 100+, cyl bore 60 ea, piston 97. Just got gaskets, seal kit, piston rings, screw kit $140 from Vitos (w/tax). You get the picture. It usually ends up costing more than you first figure. Most of all have fun and welcome to BHQ.
  8. Clean as in looking like new. Cases are now split for crank work. Well almost new, not polished though. 'shee ain't no trailer queen. Friend at G.M. was going to check into what might work. Tried Alumna Jelly while back, wasn't impressed. Any body ever try bead blasting or walnut shell blasting???
  9. What have any of you used to clean engine cases, other than a Dremal and sanding rolls? Thanks!!
  10. My son just got an 87, was doing the same thing. Cleaning carbs etc. didn't work. Ended up pulling flywheel, cleaned poles on stator, cleaned pickups on outside of flywheel, set gap, problem solved. Good luck!!
  11. Interesting concept. But no crank, blown jug, not worth that much.
  12. Had to tear my son's shee all apart cause he flipped it into a deep mudhole. Anyways, when I tore it down I discovered the washer welded to the shaft. No idea how long like that. Guess I'll see if the gear is real sloppy. If it ain't broke I ain't fixxen it.
  13. Personally I applaud 420. To build your own system from scratch is a challenge. How many jugs did Herr, F.A.S.T., or any other "Porter" F-UP before they got it right? How many are man enough to admit one set, let alone more. If it were me, I'd have two machines. One to ride, one to "Mess" with. How many light bulbs did Edsion make before he got it right? Any monkey can bolt a bunch of "stuff" together and make a shitload of power. And as far as me making my own shit, my friend and I built a drag bike with a 550 ArticCat. As far as porting I used specs I got from AC , had to weld around intake ports to have enough "meat" to hog the ports to accept two 44s ovalbored to 48s. Thing was a PIA because even Olaf Aaen couldn't help us with clutching because we were doing something that hadn't been done (yet). But bracket racing on1/4 mi. we did good, best day all runs were within 3hundreds of a second, pretty consistant. BTW if you want to drool over a two stroke, check out Aaen's 285hp, V-4, F.I. 1000cc moter. BTW, we won trophy class once and money class once. I say go for it 420, it will come to you one day!!!! Also this is a motercycle not a quad, with a 5.5 rear slick.
  14. I'm new to banshees, so it might already be done. But how about an easier to install air box. I'd like to hang the bastard that designed it by the ballz. Those that ride in mud/water need a box. All it would have to do is slide forward over the pins, instead of hooking over them. Could even offer them in different colers maybee.
  15. DO what savage 420 suggested. Didn't read what the problem was, but unless your as mechanical as a rubber spoon, you should be able to fix it youreself. It will probably cost a ton at a shop, IMO.
  16. Way funny!! Looked thru some adds and couldn't understand half the shit! LOL!
  17. I kind of agree with you, fastr, just that hopefully I'll never have my son's shee this far down. If most of you saw it you probily wouldnt have even bought it, lol.!! It is what it is. Deffinatly a fixxer upper. Way ain't spendig that much time with a Dremel on the cases, will never be a Trailer Queen! Hell, it took two hrs to get it clean enough to finnish tearing it apart. Friend has a blasting rig, think I'll get some walnut sheels and go for it! Any other ideas still welcome! Have a great day!!
  18. My son recently got a cheep shee. Had spark, but only fired on one cyl. Pulled flywheel, cleaned all poles on stator, wiped out flywheel, cleaned timing tits on outside of flywheel, gapped pickup. Hope this helps.
  19. Complete tear down due to mud hole flip, might need crank. Was wondering best way to clean cases, bead blast, walnut shells? Thought would be nice to make them look new, just want to clean up 20 yrs of abuse and corrosion. Thanks for ideas.
  20. Son flipped his shee into deep mudhoe. Pulled jugs, left crank full of slop. He didn't try to start it, only couple drops in chamber. Could it still have hydrolocked? Whats reasonable price for a shop to check rods for straight? Didn't look bent but I know it doesn't take much. Yeah, I know I got to pull it all apart. Was hoping not to do it till Christmas, LOL. Thanks in advance for any help.
  21. Anything is possible. Do the Gixxer then move on over to 4-pokes anonomous, it won't be a 'Shee nomo!
  22. I've seen a horse fly, I've even seen a needle wink it's eye. But I never seen such GAY @$$ shirt in all my days!! FLMAO !!Would rather have a four poke!!
  23. Shaft that chain sprocket goes on. Parts need to be rotating to move/shift properly/easily.
  24. THANK YOU For serving our country!! Pray for guidance from God, what ever you do, don't go off on her, the time isn't worth it. A woman is like a street car, one comes along every five minutes. BTW, I got stabbed in the heart couple weeks ago, not your type of situation, but it still hurts bad. Come home safe, it will get better, I promise!!
