I was at the dentist the other day. He's a die hard GM truck owner. Gets a new duramax every couple of years. While I was at my appointment he was in between phone calls to his daughter and a dealership 1,000 miles away because her 2012 duramax, his previous truck, was broke down alongside the interstate, loaded with a gooseneck full of horses, with a plugged exhaust filter.
Earlier this winter I visited with my neighbor who has a towing business. Originally he was die hard Ford owner. All 7.3, 6.0 and 6.4 550 trucks.
He had zero 7.3 and 6.0 issues. Had issues with his 6.4. It even got a new motor under warranty, just shy of 100,000 miles. He deleted and tuned the new motor after the warranty was up. LOVES it. Pulls awesome and the mileage was drastically improved and no more issues since.
He decided to give Dodge a try after his 6.4 experience. He has two 6.7 5500 roll backs. He's had clutch issues as well as egr failure and headgaskets problems with the older model, which is a 2012. His newest, a 2015, has been mostly trouble free so far. He really doesn't get that excited about his Dodges. He said the interiors and the fit and finish aren't that great and they are underpowered, but on the overall they get the job done.
They ALL have their issues.
