  1. ive seen people being told a million times boring does nothing on a stock cylinder but waste the life of your cylinder. stroke it with a nice port job and you'll be happy. just my .02
  2. im at sea level too, 18cc domes put me at 150 psi, BUT i have a full drag port and they said it lowers your compression so thats why i went lower. If your stock, go by the chart for sea level and youll be ok as long as you dont go over 150, some guys say 160 some even higher without preignition but its YOUR motor, do what your comfortable with.
  3. why are there only 2 intake gaskets with the cometic kit? arent' you supposed to have gaskets between carbs and between reeds n cylinder? mine had 4 on it when i put new cylinders on last friday i only had 2 gaskets to use with the kit. Its not lelaking but id feel better knowing.....Just now thought about it.
  4. Man i appreciate it, thanks alot!
  5. Appreciate it Travis, your a good guy to deal with..... thanks again also!!!
  6. I would def pick up a timing plate and a head if you havent already, not sure which cc for your elevation but go as low as u can without getting too high over 150'ish and ull be fine for pump gas. But i noticed a good bit a difference when i done both of them mods on a stock motor.
  7. Thanks RIPPEN, yes i was not trying to say hey look at my new cylinders, i could work some with a dremel and make em look good and post a picture showing em off, as RIPPEN stated it was simply a photo illustration to go along with the story to show EXACTLY what i was talking about. Brandon I have to agree, i wouldve liked to have seen a nice sharp edge there it only makes since to help air flow, i ALMOST went and done it myself, and WILL next time they are off, but he swears the gains are minimal if any and its not a big deal. I took em to the track and only picked up a few tenths it seemed like somthing was holding it back, wasnt happy at all, i mean it ran alot better but not amazing, then i found the key to my problem last night (my 28mm PWKS), I put my buddies 34 pj's on with his clamp on filters and it was like getting ported all over again. them 28's are really holding me back alot. I was pulling the wheels in 3rd and 4th fully strutted......which i couldnt pull the wheels in 2nd with the 28's .....I shipped them off today for a trade on some 33 pwk's, they are actually bigger in dia on the intake side than the 34 pj's and the same on filter side, and im back to the track this sat to get some numbers, hopefully these ams zippers work as well as the pro wedges.
  8. exactly, makes it hard to use the search function when the original poster never replies that a suggestion worked! hahaha
  9. as stated from the guys above, i think the 35's are a good investment if you plan on a dune or drag port as found out by myself. I ran 28 pwks on my stock ported motor with stock airbox and loved em, they had a little more up top than the stockers but kept the low end punch. I recently got a full drag port and wasnt happy with the results until LAST NIGHT when i threw my buddies 34 pj's on there with some clamp on pods and it screamed, totally different bike...... needless to say i got some 33 pwk's on the way as we speak.
  10. if i go by the dimensions on the keihin website the 34mm pj and the 33mm pwk have the same flange dia, what size is on yours????
  11. ok im guessing the 59 is in mm's correct? if so that converts to 2.32 inches, so a 2 1/2 would work?
  12. just wanted to follow up, he didnt route the wires for the stator back behind the timing plate like it was, when the motor was running the flywheel was rubbing through 3 of them and shorting out, we taped em back up and put em back behind the timing plate and runs fine..... thanks fellaz
  13. im about to order some uni pods from rmatv, need to know which size fits 33mm pwk's as they only list mikuni sizes..... 2 1/4 or 2 1/2??
  14. Yea we used a banshee flywheel puller, we also did remove the stator, so check grounds on back of timing plate? all connections from stator to harness? It starts first kick everytime, idles fine, revs fine until u put it in gear and rip across the yard and it misses kinda like bad plugs, so we did change em and them same thing.........
  15. Buddy Raced last night at the drag strip ran fine, came home and modded his stock timing plate to +4 (used my chariot plate on mine to measure out 4 degrees) And his is missing at high rpm @ wide open throttle, we moved it back to stock timing and its still doing it, changed plugs and still misses, used a buisness card to reset pickup, also put a light scuff with some 800 grit on the pickup and the tabs on flywheel to clean off some of the rust........ any suggestions at all on where we need to start to get her back running right???? Thanks Brad
  16. hahaha yea it was supposed to b funny, neways TTT
  17. I have a fresh build, went from 21cc to 18cc domes and right at 150psi in both cylinders, Is this what you normally get with these @ 200ft above sea level?
  18. sighs, i can understand your frustration, but understand this was/is my first set of ported cylinders and i was excited as im sure you were when u got your first set done, so dont read my shit if it makes u that mad, if you wanna go deep, NO picture can tell you nothing about a port job and its durations etc, unless of course its obviously something wrong and someone can point it out yet ppl still post pictures.
  19. ummm, u are aware theres 1,000 different kinds of paddles out there, i was looking for a brand... thats good for soft clay/dirt.... again Thanks
  20. Recently started racing at Ogden Dirt Drags in West Tennessee and my trail bike is slowly becoming more track oriented hahah, Last weekend fully strutted with some kenda klaws i ran a 5.3 consistent, got a full drag port on a pair of cylinders and go down to 18 cc domes from 21cc on my first weekend....im running 5.2's but bike feel 3 times faster? especially in the yard where it hooks better has way more power and i know its faster..... Guy at the track said i was blowing the tires off all the way down the track, so my pro wedges are worn all to hell and i borrowed a set of 4 snows in waaaaay better shape from a guy at the track and run the same 5.2's blowing the tires....... what do any of you run? Remember this is 300ft dirt. Thanks
  21. im runnning 28mm pwks with 50 pilots and 162 mains.......just got a drag port done and wanted to know if i needed to change jetting? i made a couple passes in the yard and checked them and they are more of a light grey charcoal color innstead of the brown they were before the porting..... thanks
  22. Well they are on the bike now, i snapped about 4 pics last night before i put them on.....i didnt check em until i got ready to post and the ones of the transfer windows and exhaust were blurry, ill post up a pic of the exhaust, i think one of them turned out well. What i meant by transfers where from the bottom of the cylinder looking in, he didnt touch em, said there wasnt any real power to be made there..... now the transfer windows in the cylinder all of em were champhered (sp) and had fresh marks on em so i know he was messing with the timing. Exhaust
  23. got me some stock bore poweder coated cylinders on a trade for some shocks. Sent them out monday to get a full drag port by a local guy here in Memphis. Said my 5.3's with kenda klaws in 300ft dirt would go to at least a mid 4 with some pro wedges after the port.... which ive acquired also..... also droped my domes from 21cc to 18cc..... got the cylinders and piston kit today and got it back together a couple hours ago..... heat cycled it a few times, full cool down..... and let her ass rip in the back yard, HOPEFULLY the wife dont see the 6 inch trenches i dug in the grass after a few 1st to 4th passes, the pro wedges are awesome turned backwards..... and man.... I am totally blown away at the difference between a non ported moter and stock, but he didnt do alot of things that alot of the builders on here do and I was just wondering would these things make a difference, The intake was widened and raised damn near to the intake transfer but in the middle it wasnt knifed like ive seen alot of guys do theres about a 1/4 flat spot on the bridge of the intake. Also he barely touched the transfers on the side, the exhaust was noticably bigger and polished nice, all the windows were changed, widened, raised etc, but the intake being knifed, and the transfers not being hardly touched will that make a difference? I mean it rips hard, revs alot higher, alot quicker, i can say im pleased, here are some pics, I KNOW you cant tell much from a photo ubt i wanted to show the non knifeing i was talking about: PIcs were taken with a iPhone, bare with me hahah BEFORE DRAG
  24. My BOSSman gotta 400ex with the big bore kit, ported heads, megacycle cam, lord knows what else with a 40 somethin mm lectron on alky that will give you all the race you want I promise....... hahaha but yea a stocker, please, you can smoke em in 3rd but funny thread, i was just gonna post "you need to sell yo shit" before i seen the end hahah
  25. yea im glad i did hold out, i went to the dirt drags in Friendship last sunday and some old man had a 86 205r 3 wheeler for 1,400 and a 87 250r quad with a 310 motor and drag pipe for 2,000.........hmmmmmm edit: he also had one of the cleanest tecate's ive ever seen!!! he wanted 3,000 for it.
