Are you going to race on sand, dirt or asphal? 300ft, 500ft or longer? People would like to hear more info to help you. I´d say +8 timing is quite alot. And stock 14-41 gearing is pretty good starting point. How much your son weights?
-
So Jeff said that 21cc domes are good for your 421 Serval with +4 timing and 93 pump gas. Thats good to hear. Sometimes people will end up with too much compression and they have to go for better fuel or order another set of domes. That´s why I asked.

rdz367. I can´t help you much, because I´m not good at jetting. What I can tell you is, my "dragish-ported" cylinders didn´t like T5´s that much. It was hard to jet. Most of my problems were "down" between pilot jet and needle. 1/2 throttle to WOT worked pretty good all the time. My motor also liked alot of timing, but I think my domes has something to do with that. There was a huge difference between 5 and 7 deg timing. Remember, I´m not saying that your motor likes that much of timing, but you can play with it too. When I swap my T5´s to drag oof pipes, it was different. It was easyer to jet. It had more mid-range torque and was responsive. I´m sure that someone who know these things better will help you. What needles you have and where they are now. Also, how many turns your mixture screws are open? One other thing. My motor always liked stock gearing up to 16-42. Have you tryed how it feels with stockish gearing? You can try 15-44. Let that motor do some work! (sorry my english )
-
In what motor you had 140psi with 23cc domes?? I thought you were just about to build this 421Serval? I can´t remember my friends compression. His domes are custom cut for our pump-gas. It´s a little different than your pump-gas. Have you talked to Jeff about your domes? If so, you are good to go. If not, I would call to Jeff or Cameron and ask.
-
I have had similar setup, but with 35pwk's. 300ft asl. I'd start 165 mains. With CEL needles my motor liked them in 4th. Sometimes 3rd. 45-48 pilots. I didn't had starting or idling problems with 40 or 42 pilots, but I never got them work with CEL.
-
What pipes you are going to use? Also what fuel you're going to use? My friend has 22cc custom cut domes for 93 pump gas in his 421 Cheetah CUB at sea level.

For sale 4 mil 485 t rex motor

Is there a spacer plate under the cylinders? -
I don´t know much, but 240 is way too lean! I would say closer to 300 is a good starting point. Don´t run it with 240! People with more experience can get you closer. I´m only saying where you should be right now. Needle 3rd or 4th. Alot of people use 27.5 pilots

Derrickc... You should post all your mods, what carb´s you have and what´s in there now. Elevation and temp will help alot. This site has plenty of knowledge people who can see easily what´s going on, but before anything, they need to know details. Does it start good? With or without choke? How the idling when motor is warm? Does it run good/better after half throttle and have issues below that? Anyway... do one adjust at the time and test it with warm motor. Always go rich first if you don´t know if it´s lean or rich. Fouled plugs are cheaper than pistons.

Yep, and I think that´s not all of them.

Will rejeting be necesary with the following mods?
Pasi S. replied to EaCastillo00's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
EaCastillo, Yes - you need to re-jet your carbs. To get better help you should give few hints more, like elevation from seal level and temps where you are riding. I don´t have master degree in Jetting, but I would think 27.5 pilots could work. Also get a good selection of Main Jets like said above. I would get 260 and 270 too. -
Ok, I´m posting this for the OP. This is his first plug chop test. Did warm it up with old, put new, run up to 5th and needed to let go for a second and then went up to 6th - pulled - killed - old plugs and cut. LOL!! This was done with 145 mains, N68A 3rd, 45pj 3 turns. I told him that he should get a second opinion just in case, but in my opinion they look ok and safe. Hope this link works. hahah!

I think he was talking about me LOL!. We have alot of auto part shops here, but they are not selling any K&N stuff. Only few motorcycle stores sell K&N cleaner and oil. That K&N stuff is over priced here in my opinion. I will not try that plain 2-stroke oil, if you think it´s not a good idea. Thanks for a Pro Tip!
-
What kind of riding you do? What is your budget? ... these are few things people here need to know, before they can help you.
-
I have never tryed this, but alot of 2-stroke dirt bike and sno-mo riders (here in Finland) use plain 2-stroke oil for filters. I will do this next time, because I run out of K&N cleaner and oil.

Gnaw banshee guy needing some info
Pasi S. replied to Project_banshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Welcome to the forum! I usually use Google for searching this forum. -
Because I don´t know your gallons and oz´s, I can´t say anything to that. I use liters. Most of the time I run about 3% premix. I put 0.3L oil in 10L of gas. I´m sure someone will chime in and help you with that. One common ratio is 32:1 with regular gas. One free tip is: Start reading! This site is full of good info. I think you can find a solutions for your problems. I´m sure 100% of them are covered here. In my opinion the "search bar" on this forum doesn´t work perfect. I use Google for that. Just type what you want to find and add bansheehq in the end - voilá! And welcome to the forum!!

I think it´s nice to see, where all these builders and backyard builders have started. (sorry my english) This is just my "hats off" for people like Brandon, sleeper06, camatv, Surfrjag and others who toked the tool and start hacking.

I don´t know much, but 70.5 blowdown sounds alot. It can be really "pipey".
