  1. Are you positive that you set it at +4 deg, maybe your timing is off and it is not a jetting problem.Did it have this problem before the timing plate. If you are unsure you could slide your stock plate back in and see what happens just to help diagnose problem. Or just advance your new plate more than it is just to see if it changes something.
  2. Looks like a very good deal but i am looking for a keyed hub style instead of spline style, thanks.
  3. Like stated early i think it is a pipe flange sealing problem.I had a cylinder that got a groove wore in it were the oring would seal from the pipe moving around.Do you have missing or weak springs? That burned oil looks like burned pre mix oil. There is no way gear oil can leak our of your base gaskets and since the oil looks burned it more than likley is coming from the exhaust.
  4. Lets see, Bush finished his daddy's war, made himself and his rich oil buddies even richer at the expence of the nation's economy. Now he will go back to Texas and count all his money, mission complete.
  5. Thanks
  6. I cut the sides of mine into flames it looks pretty cool, i also cut my rear fender tips into flames.
  7. I am looking for good used used jj&a drag axle or good price on new axle.
  8. The wind blows really hard sometime on the oregon coast out in the dunes and i think that having cut front fenders really does help when you are cresting the top of a dune.On one side on the dune there is no wind then when you carry your front tires over the top of the dune the wind is blowing really hard and tries to blow you over backwards, cut fenders help this problem.Just my 2 cents.
  9. Cameron at Redline Racing in Sweethome Oregon would also be a VERY good choice he will tell you what size carbs to run and how to port it for what you are planning on doing with your bike as will any good motor builder Redlines #541-367-2453 super nice guy.
  10. Real boost bottles say NOS on them :geek:
  11. I think it is hard to beat good ol TYPE F trans fluid in the trans, works great and is cheap most of all it works great no clutch slippage, it is designed to make clutches grab and great lubrication and doesnt steal horsepower. Also i use B&M trick shift in my drag bike because it is blue and i think it looks cool in my lockup cover  I dont think you should let price deside what premix to use it is cheap compared to motors no matter how much it costs.
  12. Which swing arm set up works best for drag racing out in the sand dunes a link style or a no link style.I currently run a link style and have never tried the no link style does any one have any input on this that has ran both ? thanks.
  13. If you want to port your own cylinders and had no idea were to start than i think buying templates is a good way to start. The first time i ever ported a set of cylinders i copied a set of my buddies that ran good, then after that built up my confidence a little i got a drill and added boost ports and made the drilled holes bigger with a die grinder and dremel. But you have to be very careful because you can break through the aluminum on the out side of the cylinder by the bolt holes,if you take your time and are careful you should be allright.I did break through on a set of cylinders that i was going all out on, and i repaired it with JB weld it works well as long as you prep the surface right and get it clean.I also use JB weld and epoxy to smooth out and fill in spots for better air flow and for case stuffing. If you breakthrough on the exhaust side by the water jacket the you would have to get it welded or start over because you cant use JB weld or epoxy on the exhaust side of the cylinder too hot.
  14. Have you moved your exhaust port up any?
  15. I have ran one alot in the dunes at Florence Or. were they are real sticklers on noise and love to hand out noise tickets and if they see a hush kit on your banshee they wont even pull you over and check you.The hush kit never seemed to hurt the performance.
  16. I was wondering if anyone has ran these pipes just bought a set awhile back and havent had a chance to try them yet havent heard alot about these pipes.
  17. I would start with 330 or 340 main jet but this is at sea level and 27.5 pilots.Put clip on the needle in the middle to start with.
  18. Yep, i learned it the hard way
  19. It could be your stator, have you tried swapping cdi with a known good one, maybe if you read through the link in the previous post it can help you figure your problem out, i think the link has alot of good information in it about your banshees entire electrical system.
  20. 165-170 psi , and i am not sure about the oil, i have allways used the same types of oil and the same ratio.I use redline alky mix for my alky bikes and use mobil 1 fully synthetic for my gas bikes at 1 pint to 5 gal.
  21. I used to have alot of fun porting on my cylinders and then go out and ride my bike and race my buddies to see how my bike ran and then come home and tear my bike down and change the porting alittle and then put my bike back together and go out and try it again. This to me was half the fun in riding.
  22. You could try advancing the timing more just to see if it makes any difference in the way it runs then go from there.
  23. Banshee electrical faq question and answer #17 in this link shows the resistor in the spark plug boot.
  24. boonmanFeb 14 2005, 04:29 PM In your banshee's spark plug caps, there are resistors built in. From the factory. IN the factory caps. Now, if you change spark plug caps, to something other than stock, or some that lack the internal resistor, SERIOUS damage to your CDI will result. In a case such as this, you will have to run the "R" style plugs. Now, NGK makes plug caps that have a resistor built in. I run them on my bike. This is VERY IMPORTANT to realize. You need to have a resistor in line to minimize interference. So, either "loaded" caps, or "R" plugs. You make the call. You can also use "R" plugs and resistor caps. I do, and don't have a problem. I went and searched the forums and found this quote by boonman he seems to agree with my experices also.
  25. I think you hit the nail on the head with the crank seal being blown and yes you do have to split the case to change the seals.
