That sucks that he lied to you and sold you a set of scuffed up clamps for basically the price of new ones when he showed you a pic of NIB knes. You could spend a little while on em and buff all that out but that's not the point.

Which tether did you get? If you don't know how to test it, disconnect it altogether and see if you have spark.

The stator is grounded so if the engine has a good connection to the frame all black wires are grounded and the r/b wire too if you have deleted the key switch. Check to see if the b/w and black wire is shorted with the tether in. Check it at the cdi connection.

Looks like the normal petcock sits a little lower than the new one. I'd run em both on reserve and never let it get close to running out. Should be good then.
