  1. I did ... wiseco's make your shee sound like a TRUCK, besides that, I could not feel the difference.
  2. CPI's are a good pipe for a stock shee, not great or excellent, there are better pipes out there for stock porting configuration. For example: FMF SST Toomey TR6 ProCircuit This pipes will extract the most HP out of the mods and stock configuration you have right now. SST's and TR6's may not extract as much power on ported motors, since they were design for stock port configuration. In this knid of situation CPI's, Rocket's and Shearer seem to shine like no others. If you get the CPI's you will need to trim a little the front fenders, not too much, that is it. I have them on my stock shee. If you do not plan on porting it then go with other brands like Toomey, FMF or Procircuit.
  3. Probably the SST's will be better for an engine with stock porting configuration. The pipes will have more midrange power than the T5's and good top end. For steep hill climing. The same thing goes for the TR6's which are supposed to be the better pipe for a stock porting configuration for the banshee. If you are planning on porting the bike go with T5's. Else if you want maximun HP and Torque with stock porting then go with SST's or TR6's, ProCircuit is also a good choice.
  4. Get an outware for the filter, but riding without the lid in does conditions is okay. Most of the time the filter stays very clean. You should check the jetting if riding without the lid, mains should be around 280-300. If you ride through water, and if the water does not cover the air box, then there is no problem. I use to ride on does kind of conditions and on muddy conditions and had no problems. With the outware the filter needs less maintenance. Use bigger pilots, like 30. Stock is 25.
  5. try 280 mains without the lid.
  6. For the Toomey T5's and the VForce I think you should be around 300 -320 mains without the lid. Everything else does not require jetting changes.
  7. Run Klotz SuperTechniPlate @ 32:1 and like how it smells. Also, Motul 800 is a great choice.
  8. I have heard they are more of a bottom end pipe, it seems the pipes widen the power band and are good for trail riding. Patriot racing and at one time vito's performance recommended this pipes for trail riding. I personally like other brands like FMF, toomey, procircuit, CPI and Rockets. For a stock shee the first 3 and for a modified ported one CPI's and Rockets, even though this pipes will performa acceptable ona stock configuration and give you more top end power than stock. Any pipe is better than stock.
  9. Power is mostly made by the pipe and not the silencer. Even though the silencers are an important part, also the stinger diameter. Do not bother to put silencers on stock pipes, I mean , aftermarket silencers.
  10. First of all, just ride that sucker for a few hours. Then go for pipes and a filter system. Forget about the intake or any other mod for know. Just in case I made a list of future mods. 1. Toomey 2:1 high flow system with uni filter with outware $50 2. Water Bottle Relocator W/S Plug Holder, Banshee $20 3. timing plate (between $35-$100 depending on brand and material made) or degree key +4 (like $10) 4. Defenetly a set of pipes (like Rockets, CPI, Toomey T5's) (aprox. $450) 5. Mild head or Cool head with 21cc domes ($250) 6. VForce Delta 2 reed cage ($230) Aprox. Total $1,200 I recommend modifications in this order: 1. Air filter system (you have various choices and depending on what you choose you may need a coolant bottle relocator braket) 2. Set of pipes 3. Advance timming (timming plate or degree key not both) 4. Cool head or shaved stock 5. VForce 2 reed cage Later on: 1. Porting 2. bigger carbs 3. and so on.....
  11. 300 mains and only snorkle removed seems a little too much. Take off airbox lid, now does 300 mains will be worth trying. And put does 30 pilots, FMF pipes like it rich on the pilots. If you want to stick with the air box lid then, take off snorkle and put 260 mains. Taking the airbox lid off and K&N filter makes a hell of an airflow change. With 260 mains and no lid you could be running lean, so if you take lid off 300 mains is the way to go, else ... 260's.
  12. Okay ... tell us: 1. your riding altitude 2. aprox. temperature 3. whole mod done to the bike (FMF pipes, 280 main s, needle 4th notch, 30 pilots, etc.) Lucky guess: if temp is around 75 farenheigth, altitude between sea level an 1500 feet, 280 mains, needle on 4th notch, 30 piots and no air box lid sounds good. But, at what throttle position the shee runs like crap?
  13. Since you got them ... sell them or just put them on. In my Opinion I would put Wiseco's because thay are proven to be strong and reliable. Maybe you did not spend too much $$$$ now but if shee explodes like a grenade ... at first you will be like this then Why the #$%$# did not I buy does Wiseco's? and finallyy : I need some $$$$ to fix my shee.
  14. Rockets look awesome ... CPI's fantastic ... chrome T5's beautiful. SST's will give you more low to mid end power. T5's are great for moded shee's , Rocket's and CPI's even better.
  15. Thinking about it ... Why not stick with does rusty fatties? I do not think T5's will give an advantage, besides you mentioned that you ride mostly trails and fatties are better for that. For the money you will spend on used pipes, you can get more low end power by putting on a Noss Cool head with 21cc domes and a vitos degree key or timing plate.
  16. This is what I have heard. A lighten flywheel will make your shee rev faster. This modification will not add more HP, it will only help rev faster. If the shee does not have a lot of torque, the mod will not improve that. Stock flywheels improve tracability, easier riding. Banshee's tend to have a picky power band. Some say that for trail riding is not recomended. I recomend getting a used flywhel, get it lighten and test how the shee feels. If you do not like it sell it back.
  17. Okay ... it sounds like lean jetting. You mentioned two specific things attributed to lean jetting, backfiring and running better with choke out. You need to make sure that the top end is torqued correctly and that there are no air leaks or problems with the gaskets, specially the head gasket. Also check if air is not leaking near the reeds, or boots. make sure carbs are not dirty. One more thing, very important, check if the tube that goes between both carbs is connected, else it will not start and if it does it will die. If everything is okay, then put the needle on the middle, the 3rd notch, stock position. The shee is supposed to start, if it is rich on fuel it will not run without bogging but it will start. I think you probably did not connected the rubber tube that goes between both carbs.
  18. The best aftermarket exhaust .... It is difficult to say for sure, I guess it all depends on the type of riding you will do. For a stock motor and trail riding: Toomey TR6 FMF Gnarlies FMF SST's FMF Fatties Procircuit Paul Turner midrange For Stock Motor and more midrange to top end power FMF SST's and Fatties Toomey TR6 and T5's Procircuit Modified motors for mid to top end power CPI Rockets Shearer Toomey T5's FMF Fatties I have CPI's ona stock motor with the Toomey 2:1 High Flow Filter System and love it. Top end is way better than stock. Bottom end is not amazing but okay for trail riding.
  19. I have a 2005 bashee, practically new and do not want to do any porting, at least not for now. That is why I was thinking of putting the vito's super stock, but I think I will be better leaving things like that for now. Probably I will try other things first like: advancing timming +4 degrees, Noss cool head with 20 cc domes, VForce reed cage. What you guys think?
  20. Recently I purchased a set of CPI pipes. A few weeks a go I decided to take off the heavy airbox and put in the Toomey Racing 2:1 High Flow filter system with uni filter and outware. Price Is okay, for $50 dollars you get an Uni filter with the 2:1 tubes. A k&N air filter for the stock box costs around $40 dollars so the price is not so bad. It is recommended to buy an outware for any of the filters mentioned. Looks and construction It depends, some people may like it others will not. I personally think it looks better than using clamp ons. The 2:1 tube is very well constructed, the construction material is similar to that of the carb boots, but stronger. The piece is very light on weight. Finally the Uni filter looks better than the stock one and seems stronger, with more surface area. Fit and Installation Installing the high flow system is extremely easy and you will use only the clamps that hold the carb boots, the system is self sustain. Is very important that you oiled the filter before using it or else dirt may go in your motor. The Uni filter stops dirt with teh help of the oil. I aslo installed an outware, so the filter is more protected against, some water and big rocks, etc. The filter comes with and off set so that it can be adjusted so that it does not hit the stingers. I did not had to put any kind of protection to the filter to keep it from burning with the stinger tubes. Ther is like half an inch between the stingers and the filter. The worst part of the whole intsllation process is taking the stock airbox out. I had to , first, on bolt the silencers and take them out, took off the 4 bolts that hold the airbox in place and had to fight a little to take the coolant bottle out. Finally took thet box out over the swing arm. Performance gain Riding arear conditions: temperature is like 85 farengheit at 1,200 feet from sea level. With airbox, no lid, stock filter, jetting was: 280 mains needle in 2 clip position 25 pilot jets half a turn out from seated. With Toomey high flow system and Uni filter, jetting is: 300 mains, everything else is as mentioned above. i tried with 320 mains, but was a little too much. My CPI pipes are very sensitive to jetting, meaning that one or two sizes more or less on the mains and it can run like crap. After installing the system I had to go two sizes up on the mains. The banshee feels stonger and with a lot of top end, compared to stock. Conclusion The Toomey 2:1 high flow system is a very well contructed product, that really works, lets you get to the carbs easier and weight savings, like 5-8 pounds, are warranty. For the serious mudder is not recomended, but for drag racing, motocross, or any riding condition were a lot of water is not involve, then this product will shine like no other. Finally, I have reed a lot of article were it seems that foam filters stop more dirt, and let more air flow, than does K&N's. I recommend this product. One thing you will need is to buy a coolant bottle braket, since the airbox is off. I just made my own braket of steel and put the stock rubber mounts. Check http://www.thebansheezone.com/Bansheezone/ToomeyAir.htm for some more explanation on how Meat installed his 2:1 system and more pictures. Check www.toomey.com click on Tech Documents then "Super Blue" foam filter installation instructions for more info
  21. So do what you got to do. After that ... some time in the future ... get does silencers. Or else, check on ebay. Maybe you can find a great deal on some used but in good condition pipes and silencers.
  22. I can not predict how many sizes on the mains you will need to go up from the stock 200. What the hell, I can not say for sure what type of jetting change you will need. Why? Too many pipe brands and variables, and not a lot of people do want you intend. Pipes and silencers are made to function as one unit. Changing silencers will have and effect on performance and sound. In my opninion, putting aftermarket pipes with stock silencers will not give you the power increase you may hope. Who knows you may as well be loosing power. If you still want to do it .... okay GOOD LUCK You can try 250 mains (5 sizes from stock), take snorkle off, everything else stock.
  23. You will need to re-jet, pipes change how fst gases are pull out of the engine and all sorts of things. If you are going to put a set of pipes, I recomend you put the silencers that are supposed to be used with does pipes. Else your shee may not run as you may want it to or gain the power the manufacturers say the pipes should make. Usually when you bolt on pipes we jet like 8 sizes bigger bacause intsruction for some of the pipes say ... take off snorkle or some times we take off the whole lid. Even with stock pipes and no airlbox lid or air box off you should re-jet. More air = (More fuel needed to be burn) = (makes more power)
