Is is bogging/spitting/sputtering then shuting off, or is it BOOM it shuts off? Are you giving it fuel and riding the clutch out? Please be a bit more descriptive. Also how does it act in nuetral? Can you rev it up, etc...
-
You want him to go fatter? Lets get his bike running first, then worry about the mains... You should also be fine with the stock needles. I honestly dont think his bike is modded that heavily.

What about riding your Shee so hard that your pipes glow thus illuminating the trail ahead? Just a though... Thats how Chuck Norris rolls...
-
No way... Norris has a patented boot cut jean with a special elastic crotch designed specifically for round house ass kickin! I ride in them all the time in case I gotta whoop same ass in a moments notice...

What about the trail tech bar mount ones?

I still think that 280's might be a hair fat, but I'm no expert. The airscrews are as follows... Turn them all the way in (Clockwise) but do not torque them to tight. You are using a straight blade screwdriver so pretend the recessed part of the screw is the hand of a clock. Once screwed all the way in if the hand is on 2 o'clock, then one full turn out (counter-clockwise) would be back at 2 o'clock. 1.5 would be counter-clockwise back to 2, then past to 8 o'clock. Does this help. The correct number of turns out may be 1 turn, 1.25 turns, etc... Just make sure both screws are out the same amount. NOTE one carb might be at 2 o'clock fully seated, and the other may be at 4 o'clock... The idle/air screw's control idle speed, and off idle throttle response... Good luck and report back...

I still may not do any hill climbing... Those hills look SICK...

Dont take it to a fong dyno shop... If you can split the cases you can jet it... You are way on the right track... Welcome to the HQ... Have fun with the Shee...

Anyone ever been accused of owning stolen Banshee
mdhc500 replied to F!NE DR!VE's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Man... That sucks... This is what I would do... If it at all looks like you are going to loose your bike I would strip EVERYTHING off that bitch and give that crackhead a stripped down frame, some ugly ass red bars, seat, and the 14 tooth sproket. I would take EVERYTHING else and put it on a new frame... Also in the mean time try to score a Bill fo Sale from the flea market guy... Good luck!!! -
If you feel it worked for you, then it works!!!

ok... I dont want to start some shiznit but I have to ask... How can so many people, including people I know run these keys in everything from bolt on bikes, to built ass hill shooters not shear one in years and countless hours of riding, and you broke "several" of them??? It would lead me to believe that you were installing them wrong, there was a defect in the batch of keys you had, or there was a defect with your crank or flywheel? I'm sorry, but I just dont buy it that "its the key" alone thats the issue with the reports people are giving here... If it were a matter of design, the stock woodruff keys would be shearing at a similar rate, as they are pretty damn close in design and material makup, and I have never heard of a stock key shearing? Just some points I wanted to make....

You know you are right... I wasnt realizing just how tiny they are. I used to work at a shot that tapped aluminium pump housings on agricultural sprayers... Stuff was 3/8 to 1/2 inch and it wasnt snapping wet or dry in aluminium...
-
Yeah, I would be on that builders ass followed by Vito's thereafter! Hardend Steel taps dont snap in aluminium bro...
-
It is/was all in good fun... I'd still go riding or drink a beer with you guys...

You are an evil evil jerkoff!!! I'm glad you didnt wish me to die!!! I just logged on to see what this thread did over the weekend and saw what you wrote... What makes you evil is I totally wiped out on my mountain bike and sprained my wrist... But I can still type just fine! How was your weekend? BigBoyBanjo... How was yours? lol...

Did you check the reeds when you had the carbs off? And again I would take the carbs all apart and clean them through and through. Verify none of the jets are clogged, that the floats and slides are not sticking. Make sure the reeds are not broken chipped or cracked. I would agree that under load it sounds as if the air/fuel mixture is what's causing your issue? I wish I had more to offer, but I'm a realative newb to to 2-strokes...

Have you read through the Electrical FAQ document on here, under Technical Documents? I would also try doing a search on T.O.R.S removal as well. Mine were already off when I got mine. I will do some searching and if I find anything I will post it back here...
-
I am just totally curious now about these keys... If anyone does have a failure I hope they post it and tell us the story... Until I asked about them I have never heard of one breaking...
-
This IS exactly what I was saying... ?
-
It does! The thread starter is referring to not chopping your plugs and just looking at them after you have some time on them to check the color versus doing a plug chop and getting a feel for the jetting that way. I was stating why that may not be the best method to "just look at the color" especially if you ride woods or do and low end lugging, or your bottom circuits are right on or even rich. Your WOT plug test probably does work, it obviously works for you. The bottom line is you know enough about your machine and your setup to know ballpart where the jetting should be anyway. I have done plug testing both ways, all three really. I just rode it for a few hours and looked at the plugs, I did the WOT plug test you do, and the chop. With a new set of plugs I personally found that your method did not put enough color on the plugs for me to feel comfortable that it was jetted correctly, when in reality it was. I choppped the same plug down and had my 2mm ring at the base... I think its a matter or experience and personal opinion...
-
LOL... Yeah they are!
-
Keep on keepin on, or Keep on truckin??? Well its quitten time fellas... See you all Monday! Have a good one BigboyB... I'll miss you!
-
The only problem IMO of just looking at the plug with time on it is this. If you do a ton of trail riding where you are not at WOT a lot your plugs can get good color on them. So you might think you are close on the jetting. In reality you could be lean and when you are in the throttle you are torching your topend... Plug chops are essential. I thought I was good and I had to bump 2 sizes on my mains to get them right. It runs better overall now... JMO...
