  1. Do you run 93 now? Are you getting pinging or detonation? Just do a compression check. If you are anywhere near 150 just do a 50/50 mix and you will be fine. Or you could try this if you like math... Take your Displacement + your Piston Volume + your Deck Clearance Volume + your Gasket Volume + your Cumbustion Chamber volume and divide that number by the Piston Volume + the Deck Clearance Volume + the Gasket Volume + the Cumbustion Chamber Volume... This will give you your current compression ratio. Look at the stock displacement numbers that are all listed in the Maintenace Manual and revese engineer this formula to see the stock compression ratio, and you will see that its correct. Good luck
  2. LMAO... I think Super or Ultra might be a grade higher? Its good to see some people have a good sense of humor about them...
  3. You said... LOL
  4. Exactly, that why running a mix is prolly best. As long as you are not detonating you are more than likely fine. A little octane boost never hurts...
  5. LOL... he should have began "This one time at band camp...."
  6. Check your compression. A rule of thumb is anything above the 150psi mark you can/should start running some higher octane fuels. I have 155+ psi and run 50/50 mix of good quality 93+ oct and 110 race fuel. I have no issues thus far... Everyone has their opinions though. I personally run Sunoco 94 oct and Sunoco 110 with some fuel stabilizer in it. Check your compression.

  8. I'm in... I'll bring the bra's!!! LOL... JK... I might be able to make it up to Coal Hill (I'm shooting for it anyway...)
  9. I guess you just had to be there??? It really doesnt sound all that funny. They only person on the back of my quad is going to be a chick, not a dude wearing a bra... So ok, you were the "driver" who is the fizzuck would put on a bra and get on the back of a quad with a dude driving it? And where did you get bra's for this stunt... I dunno, I got a pretty twisted sense of humor, this just sounds weird to me?
  10. Thanks for all the info...
  11. Thanks... I think I have enough insight to get myself addicted... Any suggestions on a reasonably cheap way to get into some asphalt tires? I dont think the HD's would hook the best? lol
  12. PM AZCUSTOMQUADS, He has a sick set of +2 +1 chrome, and he can fab some too!!!
  13. These guys have you on the right track. When jetting stick to tuning one circuit at a time and start with dialing in your mains first. When doing a plug chop always use new plugs. Ride the bike and get it up to operating temp. Throw in new plugs. WOT 1-6 pull clutch, kill motor and hold in the clutch until the bike is stopped. Pull plugs, throw in old ones to get you back to the house or truck. When you get your mains dialed in work on your pilot/needle... You should be really close with the stock pilot, and the needle on the 3rd or 4th clip, and the air screw(s) is usually always somewhere near the 1.5 out spot. Good luck...
  14. Does anyone have any photo's of some struts they fabbed? Do you want the a-arms level? And you dont want any shocks in the front? What about the rear shock, what setting do you want that set to? Just curious... Thanks...
  15. Yeah man... Thanks for all your help... The stuck @ WOT was payback for me cursin her... Bitch!
  16. Dude, your bike is sick!
  17. Yeah, the fact I am curious on what "little things I can do" instead of just for fun as is is probably a bad sign. Seriously though, with my setup, what would be a good sproket combo for the 1/8th, and would little stuff like clutch, reeds and timing help? Also I would be interested in asphalt tires, etc... Any good pointers?
  18. again... This is just for fun...
  19. Thanks man... And the WOT really got my attention! I was cruising through the woods and had a big turn coming at me and all of the sudden it hits the power band and it took me a sec to realize what was going on and by the time I did the front end was up and I was fumbling trying to jump on the back brake... It was a wild ride for a sec... My buddy behind me was wondering what the hell I was doing... I guess I will lube the throttle cable good, make sure the tops are tight on the carbs and maybe clean them both again! I think it sitting for 6 weeks got them gummed/varnished up???
  20. Dude, sorry, but what are struts? Sorry if this is a dumb question... I totally am clueless when it comes to drag setups...
  21. I am by no means at this point interested in turning my bike into a drag bike, it will allways be a trail bike. But if I wanted to go to my local track on the weekends and race some sleds, bikes, and the local HS kids I was wondering what a few simple things I could do might be? Such as tires, clutch, reeds, and gearing? I dont want to get drag porting, change the suspension, invest in drag pipes or any of that, I'm just curious as to what some low $$ mods or things I could swap in and out in a half hours time to switch from trail to track might be that would make the experience more fun??? I do plan on getting some sort of port work done this winter anyway, but not for the purpose of drag racing. This would only be for pure shits and giggles and something to do with my boys... Current setup: 2006 stock motor, stock timing, stock gearing Cool Head 19cc domes 155+ psi R&L FMF Fattys & Silencers Boysen Reeds on/in stock cages K&N Filter airbox lid on Run 50/50 mix of 94 oct & Sunoco 110 Thanks guys...
  22. Just an update for anyone that may have similar problems. My compression was good at 155+ psi in both the rigth and left cylinders. The reeds were good, the harness again checked out good and I have good ground and all ends of the plugs and harness. I took the carbs off, and cleaned the ever lovin piss out of them with carb cleaner, checked the float height and range of motion, I put the carbs back on and verified they were in sync. I removed the in-line fuel filter, as I belive it was causing just enough bend in the line to partially collapse the line and thus starving the right carb of fuel some how??? Anyway I put it back together and took it for a 2 hour ride and it ran great. I am having another minor issue as my throttle stuck WOT three different times??????????? Anyway it's running again for now...
  23. No.... That credit all goes to BenBB... I just posted it in a thread format in hopes it would get pinned for the newbs and jetting impaired... Its a good document!
  24. I wish that I could say that I was confident that it will run fine now...
  25. The TORS are off... I did the suspension bushings, steering, etc... Nothing on the motor... I'm pretty confident that is not a ground issue. I went through my harness thru and thru when I was troubleshooting that bad CDI and I had good ground throughout... On this note, I took off both carbs and cleaned the living piss out of them with carb cleaner, used safety wire to make sure none of the jets were clogged, and removed that in-line fuel filter. It fired right up and is running on both cylinders. I ran it up and down the road a few times, and even WOT 1, 2, and 3rd... It didnt drop this time and it pulled real nice..., but I had to get to work, so I did not run it for more than a few minutes... It seemed to smoke a bit more than normal, like it was a bit rich? I did go up a jet size when I put on the cool head and bumped my compression up 30 psi per cylinder...? Anyway, I think it would have acted up like it was in this amount of time, but until I can take it for a spin tomorrow I wont know for sure. I did notice that the fuel line looked a bit pinched when I had the in-line filter in it? Thats why I removed it... Maybe it was slowly starving the right carb of fuel some how??? Shit I dont know... Hopefully it was just gummed up... It has been sitting for 6+ weeks... Oh, and the reeds look to be intact!!! I will do a compression test and post, but it was 150 + or - 2 psi per side after I did the head installation. But I will do it again!
