You guys do know this is a girl right?
-
Hey guys. Looking to see who all runs or has ran 35mm A/S. If you could, please list your motor, pipes, filter setup and elevation with what jets you were running. I keep hearing they like to jet lean and just want to get an idea of what everyone ended up running on their bikes. Thanks

I want to see some videos of this thing ripping.

I have hooked it either to my chest protector or my pants. I usually hook it to my pants.

idle screw doesnt do anything. help please
hercalmighty replied to Braap_a_Banshee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
You probably need to file down the nub that the idle screw screws into. Just pull you slide out and see how far in it goes. -
I actually like my 4mil a lot better for the trails then a stock stroke. The 4mil gives you the extra torque for trails. I can lug it around a little more then the stock stroke. If you get a 4mil stock cylinder built right for trails with low to mid pipes and some 28 PWKs, it would be a wicked trail bike. Also, dont forget to look at the Serval cylinders that just came out. Damn good HP and Torque with a real nice power curve. They were tested with CPIs and 34mm carbs with very conservative domes and timing. With low to mid pipes, smaller carbs, more compression and more timing they would kick some ass for woods riding

Are you painting the plastics? -
If you want to run a stock head you need to have it rechambered for 68mm pistons.
-
That does look pretty cool. From those pics I have ridden harder trails then that with my banshee.
-
Yeah I dont have a graph of my motor. I know its not as smooth of a curve as these Servals are. Andy, how would you get another 10hp out of these? What do you think the most you could get out of running 93 octane would be? Im running CPIs and 35mm A/S now on my 4mil dune port. So I would just throw those on these cylinders.
-
I think the cylinders are $795. $220 for pistons. $30 for studs. $75 for domes if you have a cool head.
-
Yeah I dont want to screw up the power band on these things.
-
No worries. Yeah I know the port timings are lower then the cubs. Since I first heard about these things I have been trying to get as much info as I can. I want to see if any builders do any testing on them. I know everyone is saying to not port them because then you might as well go with a cub. But, you can see there is a big difference in the curve between these and the cubs. So if someone could get some extra power out of them but keep the power curve it would be killer. I know I'm asking for a lot but I would like close to stock cub numbers but a broader powerband without having to spend the money on a cheetah. Right now I think these Servals are only making about 5-10 more hp then my 4mil setup but they have a much smoother power delivery.

I know that Daj. Just want to see the ports man. I would ask him to do a port map but thats a pita. I like to see different port designs and stuff. Just more curious then anything else.

Two questions for you. Whats your elevation and what kind of compression tester are you using? A buddy and I decided to compare compression testers on his bike. I have a craftsman and he had a auto parts store tester. There was about a 20 psi difference between the two (my craftsman reading higher then his). Also, your elevation will change your compression numbers. Its works out to about a 6psi difference per 1000' above sea level.

Post some good pics of the ports man
-
Well, like I said start at the 340 and work down. The porting actually helps pull fuel through the carbs.
-
Good spot to start. Probably end up closer to 290-310 on the main

Im pretty sure your not suppose to use the ball with the pancake bearing. That might be why the adjustment is out.

banshee featured in dirt rider magazine
hercalmighty replied to shadowbanshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Im mostly talking about the original KFXs vs the older 400exs. I havent ridden the EFI ones yet and this was before the they started getting the good shocks. As far as the problems go, a lot of small stuff and weak tie rods. I know a guy who went through about 6 tie rods in a year just riding trails. Another guy was having problems with the cooling fans cutting out on him and the bike over heating. I really dont remember the other issues I have heard. Yeah I do agree the air cooling really holds them back but I think they were going for simple design. Im not saying the 400ex is the greatest quad out there but for a causal rider who isnt looking for top speed or spending a ton of money its a good quad. -

Damn, I can't believe the 400ex is getting bashed so bad. I really like them. They are fun bikes. Yeah, I would agree they are not speed monsters or anything but they are fun. Stock for stock, I never had a problem racing anyone in the woods with the 400ex. They are not my favorite ride out there mostly because I'm more into twostrokes but I would buy another one for a woods beater since you can pick them up cheap now. If I was buying new, no I would not buy one. I would probably buy a YZF 450 or a KTM. Now, comparing the 400ex to the KFX/LTZ 400, I'll take the 400ex. A friend of mine had a KFX400 and my brother and I raced the 400ex vs the KFX. We each jumped on one and dragged them. They are about the same in a straight line. We would switch bikes and get the same results. I just liked the way the 400ex felt over the KFX. Plus I seen a ton of people have problems with the KFX were the 400ex would just keep going. Now, I don't now how the hondas do once they start getting modded but stock they are very reliable. Being honest and comparing stock to stock, for the average rider who isn't into only dunes or drags I think the 400ex would be a better choice. Not everyone likes the banshee powerband and like the more torquey power of a 4stroke. My brother and I are pretty close in riding skills and he liked his 400ex more then my banshee, where I liked the banshee more. But I have more experience riding the kind of powerband a banshee has then he does. -
So, any updates on the pipes?
-
Thanks a lot Andy! You are kickass man.
-
Wow, thats a big difference. Keep playing with this cylinders and see what you can do with them. I think if you could get another 10hp and 5-6 torque out of them you wont be able to keep the damn things in stock. Does anyone have a 4mil dune port dyno sheet to throw up to compare?
-
I know this is probably a pain in the ass question but...... I would like to see some sheets of a well setup 4mil dune port and an uncut cub of similar size to the serval cat. All three setup on pump with same pipes and carbs. Not really worried about numbers, mostly like to see the power curves. Rough numbers to compare the three would be nice though
