  1. Pretty much any time you change how air enters or exits the motor its going to effect how the motor performs. 2 strokes are extremely senstive to airflow through them. That's how they work. 4 strokes use mechincal devices to adjust how air flowa through them. 2 strokes use strictly air to perform and to get air in and out of them. The shape, length, diameter, even texture will change how the air flows. The bigger the pipe the less force is created. So, since the carb piping is bigger it loses some of that force. So the motor needs to create more vacum to pull the same amount of air at the same speed. This is where your porting, intakes and exhaust come into play. If your not matching up your parts right the motor isn't going to perform as well. If everything is matched up right the bigger carbs will perform just as well down low as up high, but not matched up and you will lose that power. Go read the thread for sniper pipes. They really explain well how all the parts work together and that matching everything up will really raise the effeciantce of the motor. Also check out The Two Stroke Shop. They do a lot of things to make great motors and explain a lot of the velocity and flow for motors. They have been doing a lot with GP style bikes.
  2. Are you running pods or a filter in the airbox? If your still running the airbox are you running the lid?
  3. 158 main, 48 pilot, N68A needle in the middle. Probably better getting the jets from one of the site sponsors
  4. For the springs you will need an allen head and something that will fit the little holes in the collar so you can turn it. For the other adjustments you shouldn't need anything but a small flat head at most.
  5. At low rpms the single carb works great because the carb has a chance to "recharge" between the two cylinders. As the rpms increase the pistons are moving so fast that the carb has to feed both cylinders almost at the same time.
  6. Just because the piston looks good from the intake side doesn't mean the topend isn't smoked. The rings could be fried and you wouldn't know unless you did a compression check. If your running super lean it won't take much to smoke a topend
  7. I would check your compression. Those 220 mains are small for pipes and a K&N. Sounds like you might have smoked the top end
  8. I have a question. I see you are comparing your pipe to Shearer but I would like to see how they compare to CPI. I'm not going to lie and say I know pipe design or anything so just follow me a little here. I have tried both the Shearer and CPI and like the CPI better because they seem to be a little easier to stay "on the pipe", if you know what I mean. I'm not a dragger so I need a pipe that a little more user friendly. I seem to be able to get a better eta with a broader powerband pipe then a more peaky pipe. Also, I would like to see your pipe on some PV Cheetah motors.
  9. When the A/S came out on the dirt bikes they said the big advantage was that they helped with bogging off of jumps and going over whoops. Also they have a better throttle response. I dont know if they are any better then the standard PWK. I just got a set and put them on. I going from 28 PWKs to the 35 A/S so its hard for me to say how a 35 PWK and 35 A/S compare.
  10. Honesty I never heard that before. I know it use to be a big thing to take your airvent lines and run them up into the airbox. You would do that so the vent hoses wouldnt get clogged with dirt. When I was running harescrambles I had my bike die before because the hoses got clogged and the carb couldnt breath. As far as any more power I dont know. If it made a difference I think you would hear of more people doing it.
  11. Are you talking about the drain lines off your bowls or your airvents off the sides of the carbs? If its the ones off your bowls the only problem I see with that is if your bowl over fills the gas will not drain and back up into your motor.
  12. Did you sign a contract yet? If not ask them if you can watch and approve the segment before it airs. They can edit the shit out of things and make the biggest douche out of anyone.
  13. What size carbs? The 28 PWKs and 30 OKOs use different needles then the big ones.
  14. I had the 28 PWKs on my 4mil dune port and they worked great. The 30 OKOs are pretty much the same carb but I have heard of some people having issues with them. I dont think its alot of people but just do a little research and also ask your builder what they recommend.
  15. I just bought a set of 35mm PWK Airstrikers from Tedder. They just arrived and I cant believe he even ran them. Im really glad I bought from him. He said they were in good shape and the pics looked good but what came were like new condition. So if anyone is looking to buy from him go for it. Dont even think about it just do it because you will get an A1 product. Thanks a lot Tedder. You are one of the good guys that keeps me here.
  16. Good find blowit. Thats a kick ass article.
  17. Oh no shit. From bucks. Cool man. Where do you normally run? Atco, Englishtown, Maple Grove?
  18. Whatn size and how paddles are they? Also what thickness rims are they?
  19. Most dirtbikes have a dual exhaust port. So there is a little piece of metal that separates the two ports. That little bridge heats up alot faster then everything else so it will expand faster. So to help with that you put a couple holes in the piston for oiling.
  20. The rings should be about 0.010-0.012 ring gap. If you have stock cylinders you dont need the oiling holes. You only need those if you have an exhaust bridge.
  21. What pipes are you running? You say your running a K&N, is that in the air box or pods? Are you running the air lid? When I had my stock ported motor with T6's I was at 162 main, N68A needle in the middle, 45 pilot. I tried running running the carbs with the airlid on and it just didnt seem to want to run right (I tried mains from 148-165). As soon as I took the air lid off it ran like all hell.
  22. A 4mil will help the bottom some but you may want to look at doing a cheetah motor if you want the best of both worlds.
  23. I dont know about right around Westchester but Coal Hill is only about 1.5-2 hours from there. Thats about the closest good riding area your going to find. Im sure there are little areas here and there but nothing great. You should have told him to go to Bloomsburg University. Thats only about 1/2 hour from the main riding area at Coal Hill but Im sure there are riding areas right find the school.
  24. If you sell it to me, $100.
  25. Yeah I talked to Kevin at HJR about my domes since he ported the motor. He originally sent me 21cc domes to run on 110 octane. I couldnt afford the race fuel so I wanted to go back to pump gas. So we talked it over and he said I should be good with 23cc domes.
