Anyone thinking of making the September 21-22-23 dunes trip? We're staying at the Sierra Sands hotel because the rates are 1/2 off that weekend. (We do love that Jacuzzi!) We've got about a dozen people coming with us as well as a few site members that we are meeting up there. Every year that weekend works out to be a nice low key weekend. Just enough people out there to mix it up with if you want to do some racing, but few enough that you'll feel like you have the place to yourself. I'll be bringing my dune/drag bike as well as my duner, but I'll be doing more dune riding than anything else. Anyone looking to getting in some more dune riding before Fall is over and we start parking these machines?

The answer to your question is...........Get something else. -
421 serval with bb shearer inframes
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to notsed's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Well the answer is it won't run to it's full potential. (The oversized pipes will hurt performance. But still might be better than the T-5's) As for jetting....it'll be hard for anyone to give you an answer that you can go with because your running a pipe that is too big for what the motor is. Your sort of on your own on that one. Assuming you'll need more fuel just because the pipes are big would be a guess. The oversized pipes will actually make the pipe scavenge less and the pipe won't be tuned to maximize it's effects on the combustion process. So not only will your power be down, but tuning the motor will be harder. The leap that I would suggest you make, is to make a plan to sell those pipes and get some SB's....then get it jetted right. But I understand......you just want to ride. Wish I could help you more, but other than to tell you to do plug chops and start out rich and work your way lean.......you'll have to find the right jets through trial and error. -

It would sound like a motor with the wrong pipes on it. -

Stator side cover w/ easy access to sprocket
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to gwinnraptor's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I got one from Cascade specifically because I wanted to be able to swap sprockets without having to pull foot pegs and shifters. The sprocket cover insert removes with just 4 screws and I have plenty of room to work with the cover still in place. -

Thinking of adding on fenders
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Paulie B's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
No. Read again......"Shave them and bolt those to your shaved ones." I was saying....cut the fenders off of a set of 450 plastics......then mount them to your shaved Banshee plastics. Or just leave your nail polish, nail files and little purse dog at home and go ride like a man and don't worry about getting wet or dirty. Then once you get done spending time in the man zone......you can get cleaned up, clean the dirt out from under your finger nails, then snuggle with little puppy Pookie and polish your nails. Banshees are like women......if they aren't shaved...they just look So 80's. -
It's a lot smaller than your picturing. (Only 500 rideable acres) Picture it more like a "Ride Park" made of sand. Open basically from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm No trailers on the sand and only 2200 parking spaces in the parking lot. Split the place down the middle...the east side is directional traffic only (Travel north to south) The west side is anything goes, but a 25MPH speed limit on the beach. Hey, it's not Glamis....but it's all we got East of the Mississippi.

RUN IT! Looks like a sweet Trinity build.

Thinking of adding on fenders
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Paulie B's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Fenders won't help you much. I have shaved fronts and my buddy just got full fender fronts with his latest set of plastics. We ripped "The Badlands" together for the day and we were both equally wet and muddy. I pointed out that he might as well shave the fenders because he was just as dirty as me. He pointed out a dry spot on his inner calf about the size of his palm. I told him if he wanted to runs those dumbo ears just to keep his inner calf drier than mine, then he could feel free to also do the extra work to clean all the mud off those fenders after every ride. Besides....if you were going to bolt on some fronts.......why not use YFZ450 fenders. Shave them and bolt those to your shaved ones. At least they will look a little more aerodynamic. -
Best Way To Clean These Dirty Plastics.
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to ATVridinMaNiAc's topic in Banshee Appearance
Soft Scrub with Bleach is the cleaner that always worked on all my white plastics. I just put it on straight and buffed the plastics with a damp rag till they looked good as new, then rinse. Worked great on oil stains, dark spots, mud staining, always made them look almost new. (It will take a little of the new shine away...but your plastics look to far gone to worry about that.) -
Don't mind Colby and his mean words....he's just mad cause he paid for the "Arm Ripper " port job and all he got was a triple thick base gasket and a detonation dome.

Or just park a spare truck in line and go ride. When we don't have a spare rig...we make friends with people at the front of the line. It's better than the old days when you not only had to sleep on the side of the road over night to have an early chance at getting in. (Like you were trying to buy concert tickets) but you also had to deal with the misquotes and the drunks who would let people cut in line...then the fights that went down over that. Then wait for hours in the hot sun while the line moved slowly forward as the checked each truck and all that crap. (More people cutting in line.) Trust me......the current system is WAY better than anything before. The LAST THING you ever want is a reservation system like they have for the campgrounds. (Have you ever tried to plan a camping trip any time after March? Every campground is booked for every weekend till school starts again.) You would have to make reservations in January for the summer weekend you want to go...then if it rains that weekend, your shit out of luck cause your not going to be able to book another weekend till next January.

Silicone Rubber Pipe Seals for exhaust
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to IceAlmeida's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Napa has the hose you need. I buy it by the foot and then cut if up into the sizes you need. (Keep a few in your toolbox. Friends are always asking for some.) It's got a green outer sleeve and a red inner core. (Just like the stuff you get with the billet clamps that Cascade sells.) Not sure if your going to need 1" or 7/8"......but bring in the pipes and figure it out. -
Is there a Soft Core MX port? Maybe I'll get the "Bad ass" port. Or the "Runs like a mother fucker" port. Of the "Have them bitches hating" port. What next? how many port styles can we find custom names for? Fields/Woods/Trails/Street/MX/Dunes/FireRoads/Drag/Full Drag/Hillshooting/Hillclimbing/Mud Bogging/Blinged out posing on the trailer/Blowed up after 20 minutes of riding/Pump gas/Race fuel/Alky.

Right........Rob did originally design his own pipes to be a copy of Matt's. So he is the "original designer" of his own copycat pipes.

vitos superstock or wiseco?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to UPbansheeRacer's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yeah, they are gaining 6-7 HP on a stock cylinder and are a great choice if you don't have the money to get porting + pistons. Once you get the porting, you'll need Wiseco pistons at that point. But you probably won't get porting till your ready for the next rebuild. NOTE: 7 more HP will require that you re-jet! Start out fat and work your way down from there......most of the issues that people have with any piston is jetting related. -
Your cover came loose again? WTF? Your not backing plugs at all are you? (And YES your going to have to do the tranny mod for that bike to shift.) Are you going to have your stuff ready for the September 21-22-23 dune trip?
-
Fine. You explain it for them. (Text posting rules apply....you can only use one sentence at a time....no complete thoughts...no punctuation....no paragraphs. GO!
-
Why isn't anyone talking about just adjusting the air screws? Do we need a post to explain what they do?
-
With a Serval?.... .....WTF? You wouldn't even need oversized bowls with a Serval.
-
You would have to run a pump.
