  1. I see a burn down in your future. Good luck.
  2. Well the important part is the original poster got his answer and is on board. Plug gap can very depending on the build, fuel and the ignition system. That is a second topic and will require a new post to get lots of good opinions. For the noobs...before you go busting beads off your rims to line your paddles up......just pull one hub and install it back on with the tires in sync. Then your set till you get the next set of tires.
  3. Most of us will be up there on following weekend of the 20th. You might have trouble getting your banshee kickstarted without a kickstarter.......
  4. Wonderful reply. So your pissing into the wind and I'm telling you it's wrong. Then your saying you do it all the time and even though everyone keep pointing out that you have piss all over your legs, you have never noticed. You don't think I should call it wrong because your just trying to piss, and the piss is coming out, so you must be doing something right. Listen.....plenty of people stick spark plugs in without gapping them and the bike runs. (They are too dumb to know they are doing it wrong..but since it's worked for years.....WTF is the big deal right?) I'm not going to get them to see the light any more than you will about this issue. You don't line up your paddles. Fine. Keep it up. Whatever. I gave you a list of possible reasons to make the effort to line them up. There is usually a best way to do something. Your obviously too lazy to take a second to bring your game to the next level. Fine. Feel free to argue till your hearts content. You get the concept, but taking the couple of seconds it would take to make a small adjustment is just too taxing on your sensibilities. I can't help you......your listening, but your just not hearing me. Ignorance is bliss..........Enjoy. If you find the need to comment further....please start with a list of reasons why someone SHOULDN'T follow my suggestion. TOP 10 REASONS TO 1/2 ASS YOUR EFFORTS IN BUILDING AND TUNING YOUR BANSHEE AND INSTEAD BASK IN THE EASE OF MEDIOCRITY #1 - Arguing a loosing point with someone of superior intellect and experience until they just give up because your "To dim to get it" will leave you feeling like a winner for once. #2 - Think of all the attention you'll get. (Positive or negative at least someone's looking) #3 - The world would be a better place if there was no "Right and Wrong" #4 - Mom always told you not to let everyone bring you down with all the laughing. Of course your not wrong....."God made you perfect" #5 - Acting dumb and trolling will prove entertaining I was going to give you 10 reasons...but I gave you 5 reasons why you should change your actions and line your paddles up, but you didn't listen to that info. So I don't think I need to give you more than 5 reasons to keep doing what your doing. Remember you said I could "Have at it" .......Have a nice day.
  5. So......you going to get me and the wife a ride in the rail?
  6. One of the guys we ride with put one rear paddle on facing in when he swapped the dirt tires for the sand tires, so the paddles were facing backwards on one side. We let him ride it like that for about 10 minutes before we started busting his balls. But I guess I can't "prove that it was wrong" because it still worked.....kinda. I guess since the tires don't come with an installation manual...we'll never know how to mount them.
  7. A buddy got stuck in the pea gravel on the right fork of the Y on the main road/path heading into the dune area. About 1/2 way down on the right the hills are pea gravel and around some of the small trees it's REAL DEEP and loose. He got so much gravel sucked into his chain that it killed the motor and I'm really surprised that it didn't break the chain or crack the cases. We had to rock the bike slowly and use little sticks we found to push each piece of pea gravel out of each link of chain till we could get the whole thing cleaned out enough because the sprocket and chain had a solid layer of gravel keeping them apart. I've ridden through a lot of nasty shit over the years......and that pea gravel looked so tame. Yet it sure took him by surprise. (Just a little heads up for all you fellow Badlands riders.)
  8. Ok....what would be proof? Basics - The stagger makes the bike not only bounce up and down, but side to side. This creates vibration. (How much and if it matters is debatable) That side to side can put extra side load on everything. (you might not care) Your getting grip on one side then on the other. (This force is more like the bike slithering or walking rather than moving straight forward. (You might not feel it scrubbing energy, but it is) On harder surfaces or slower speeds the misaligned paddles will put a vertical clockwise/counterclockwise twist force on the swing arm instead of just an up and down action. (That can't be better) Putting all the force of the motor into just one paddle at a time will cause the paddle blade to bend and distort more than if it was sharing the force with another paddle at the same time. (This would mean even though your using the same # of paddles, you would get less overall traction from misaligned tires.) How well do you think a wheelchair will work if you push on each wheel seperately? OK...your turn. Why is it better to NOT take 5 minutes to align your paddles and instead debate it to the death with those who feel you should? What mechanical advantages can you provide that will shed some light on your perspective?
  9. And babies......but that's women's fault too.
  10. You ARE doing it wrong. But far be it from me to be able to change peoples minds....so do what you want. That's what "You don't have to means". It means continue to run your life the way you want and ignore those of us who are getting a chuckle at your expense. Sheerider11 asked and it was answered. Now he can line them up, or not. His call. More little things others don't bother to do. - Gap plugs inflate tires to the same O.D. instead of just the tire pressure install master links facing the correct direction torque fasteners Check compression on a motor build Check squish on a motor build Take advise from anyone doing something your not doing.
  11. You've worked really hard at being wrong for years. They point it our cause your doing it wrong and everyone notices. Hope you don't feel the same way about gapping spark plugs. Honestly, if you only run in dry sugar type sand, you might not notice at all. Also I'll say that if your running the standard V-style 8 paddle run of the mill tire....It won't matter much. But if your running straight blade Scat-Trac tires, the vibration you feel when rolling across a hard flat surface is a strong example of the side to side force your bearings are feeling. You don't HAVE to line them up. But don't get defensive when people point it out. At the worst it would only require that you rotate one hub on the splines to get them in sync. You do it once and your set for as long as you own those tires.......
  12. I run 22" rear tires. But your right, if I was bending brake rotors every ride I'd do something more. But I hate skid plates. When you bury them on pea gravel at the badlands, they work like a conveyer belt to feed gravel into the chain. I'd run a sprocket guard before I put a skid plate back on my Banshee just based off of the areas I ride at.
  13. It's cheaper to buy a front sprocket, than to get a new skid plate. But then again.....I haven't run a skid plate in years.
  14. Go 13-41....end of problem. 14-44 = 3.14 ratio 13-41 = 3.15 ratio Close enough. Front is way easier to swap and doesn't leave you with all the issues. Plus you'll have better ground clearance.
  15. I was reading your post....I think you might have an air leak..
  16. Let the record show that for all the bashing I do to Trinity. My "Interests" is full of advertising for the people who have really done me right. I'm not a hater unless they earn it. Maybe after this trip I'll post a pic of my bike for my signature. But for now I'll just let you guess what my ride looks like. So is there going to be an official spot where we can all go to figure out what face goes to what screen name? (An easy-up with an HQ banner) Or are we all just going to assume that the fast Banshees are all HQ members?
  17. I've got a Graydon. It's fine. You don't have to do any support of the carb. (It makes jetting a breeze because you just loosen one hose clamp, twist the carb sideways and can do all your adjusting with no fitting a second carb that's in the way.) Plus a tube from the carb to an air box kills the flow. I tried it and it really hurt the power. (The Mull Engineering design is a different story)....but with a single carb you don't need an air box because the motor blocks everything.
  18. For your size motor.....BB if your going with CPI's. SB if your going with Shearers. The SB Shearers in the new style OOF pipe will make 5HP more with that size motor.
  19. I don't think you can run your "Chillin the most" flag on a UTV. I was talking about getting the right A-arms and shocks. Not trade the hole thing away. You can still use the 450 spindles/hubs/brakes.
  20. Are you guys talking about going for the test and tune from 5-9 or are you talking earlier in the day?
  21. Here is an idea....instead of throwing good money after bad. Stop now. Sell it all and get some stuff that was MADE for the Banshee.
  22. It's got Raptor plastics. And mice living in the seat. Probably won't fire because the air box is full of nests.
  23. Everyone who wants to ride just needs to bring a Banshee and a topless girl. If you haven't made plans for a place to stay.....that is where the topless girl comes into play.
  24. You'll have to settle for his 2 cents. But I agree. You go thru bikes like it's a fetish. If you go thru women like you do bikes........your bound to catch a dose of something. What's the deal? You trying to own one of every motor design out there before you cash out and jump into the sideXside market?
  25. Yeah the pipes you have in your signature. Now if you want to have a pipe for it's sound....buy what YOU think sounds good. If you want a pipe that performs.......you have it.
