Where are you located. It'd be better if it was someone close to you. What kinda paddles are you wanting. Just for trails where any type would do or like haulers, prowedges etc. What size holeshots?
Have 20cc 68 bore domes for a stock stroke 400 cub. That's a 68 bore 54 stroke Cheetah cub. I'd Take $50 shipped or make an offer. I'd trade for reeds, White plastic tank side panels, after market bumper, grab bar whatever. Shoot me an offer. Radar
I'm pretty interested in the cub as well. With repairs it might not be worth using is the aluminum scratched at all or just the plating. The monoblocks can be made to run very well ported right, they have their flaws but are cool cyls when done. Main rules for selling , you need a price on yer stuff.
That's why prople tell you "WILL" need to rejet it it wont work right. In the time you took to wash your hands and type on the computer you could have had it done and been riding. "How can I fix this" Rejet the carbs.
I use a different plug heat range when I'm jetting a bike and need to somewhat light off more unburned gas just like you did. If the bike likes those plugs and if the electrodes plating is not burned more than 1/2 the way down to the base of the plug then you are fine. I'd say your ignition/spark may be slightly off meaning it's not as hot as it once was. Check the plugs and you might get some new plug boots.
And a few drops of gas with oil mix always will evaporate the gas away and leave behind the oil and it kinda builds up.Same thing if you spill premix the gas goes away and the oil stays. I wouldnt worry.
.....LMAO..... I was thinkin that too... That's why honestly i didnt want shearers was bad chrome. I know they will run the best with my cub but I got a set of cpis instead maybe in 2 or 3 months i'll sell the cpis and switch. I heard CPI chrome is crappy now too.
A stock stroke,4 mil,7 mil and 10 mil cub run stock banshee sized cages and the cheetah cylinders run the much larger cages from a 250 R honda however the bikes have very similar hp numbers till you get up into the really good running 10 mil or 130 hp and up bikes. A really good drag ported oem cyl or cub will not run very well with stock carbs. Theres also a factor that a larger carb will in some ways force a smaller reedcage to flow more and make more power. I do definately agree though that many people want to run huge carbs on a motor and dont really need them. I know of very fast 350 triple exh ported bikes with bored stock carbs bored to 28mms. Small carbs= good snappy motor.
At idle? Check to see if your carbs are synced. If they are turn in your air screw on the one that's not smokin till it's equal or turn it out on the smoker till it's even. A bike being slightly rich at idle will start easier see what it likes as far as crispness off idle and starting ability.
The 4 strokes are definately good flat track bikes and on a short track especially their torque is good to have. I think that was H & H's race I got nothing against them but I'm glad a shee won. Heres a vid. Mind you my family is rootin for me not your bro so take no offense. Miami co fair I got 1st. I think he got wrecked or i know he woulda been right there with me. I actually raced my wifes 400 polaris cause my cub banshee has a +8 swinger.

I'd use the 000 or 00 steel whool and WD40 also. Or get some hoppes gun solvent and 000 wool it'll make em look good just keep up on em with mothers so they dont rerust. It'll look perfect from 10 feet away cleaned up i'll bet.
Most of the time lean will give you a light tan or grey plug color. Takes 1 minute to check em. Popping when you let off the throttle from wide open is definately lean. They said clean the carbs cause dirty pilots or slightly clogged mainjets will lean a motor out too. If the bike wont idle you need carbs synced and air screws adjusted right.
You'll get no torque advantage being stock stroke. Having new domes made for $75 to $100 is nothing and you can sell yours for say $40 or have yours recut if they can be made to work with your new combo. I'd get the motor combo that will work best for you powerwise(crank, stroke, porting) and for fuel type you wanna run and think about the dome situation last. It's not that big of a deal..
