  3. Are these inexpensive baskets any good? Got to be better than my stocker with like 3/8" play in the cushions. I know a lot of you run the Magnum. Don't think either comes with bolts or cushions.
  4. Who has the best online OE Yamaha parts prices and fastest shipping?
  5. Some parts I need for this build. OKO 30mm PWK carbs, After market clutch basket, Like new tight dog bone linkage set. Like new black un painted rad & tank plastic. Like new uncut black plastic.
  6. Just sent him a PM. Thanks all
  7. What are the shops using? Not the spray can stuff. Doing my painting with an HVLP, Going black over black plastics so I've got that going for me but I do have some deep scratches to fill and that is my next question, What's a good hi build sandable black primer that works well with the promoter if I need to do major sanding before top coating? Thanks
  8. So how does it run? What jets did you end up with?
  9. Looking to get my stock head milled and re shaped but for what most shops want to do it I could buy a good used cool head. Anyone know a shop that can do this correctly at a fair price? Wish I still had my Bridgeport.
  10. Detonation, Crap fuel, Too much timing, Too much compression for a given octane, lean jetting to name a few. Preignition, Carbon buildup (this can also cause detonation due to increased compression) Running too hot a spark plug of when anything in the combustion chamber gets hot enough to pre ignite the fuel before the spark plug.
  11. Actually timing plays a KEY role in any high compression motor 2 stroke or 4.. As we increase compression we need a more stable, slower burning (high octane) fuel to prevent a sudden burning of the air/fuel mixture (detonation) We need to light this slower burning fuel a lot earlier to get the max power out of the motor. The goal is to ignite the fuel before top dead center and have a well established flame front around 10 to 15 degrees after TDC and maximum combustion pressure at 90 degrees of crank rotation where the connecting rod has the most leverage on the crank shaft. The exception to this would be nitro methane or diesel fuel that has a much faster burn rate but does still require proper ignition (or in a diesel, injector) timing.
  12. Nope. +4 degrees and 93 pump gas are a perfect match. Even more so with a reshaped head. When you start raising compression you need more advansed timing to copensate for the slower burnning hi octaine fuel you need with the higher compression.
  13. Coils behind the flywheel (stator) are there to produce 12 volte. The trigger pickup the the only one that matters. That plate does looke pretty cool, Think I'll ditch my key.
  14. I haven't heard back from CrankWorks yet. Got pricing from RDZ Racing and LC Performance. Both look like awesome shops.
  15. I did find 2 shops out of stste that will do it $50 & $65. Shoot me $70 on my PayPal and we'll call it even. I'll still be a little behind on shipping 2 ways. I'll probably get it fixed and keep it for a spare because (go figure) I just picked up a zero hour stock rebuild with Yamaha rods that's true/welded for $100 from one of the shops I called that didn't want to mess with it.
  16. Who did you call because nobody I talked today wanted to mess with it.
  17. Guess I'll put in my 2 cents. BelRay Gearsaver, Good stuff, time tested, Thick in the winter,. Don't ice race w/gearsaver. Castrol GTX, used it in a 1150 drag bike I had and it foamed real bad, never used it again. ATF, Well it's made for clutches, ball and needle bearings and high load and high heat. Works great in any 2 stroke gearbox especially in the winter. Amsoil Super shift synthetic racing ATF, THE BEST SHIT you can put in a 2 stroke gearbox. Automotive synthetic like Mobil 1, Don't use. Clutches will slip.
  18. I don’t know of anyone I would trust in Columbus to fix it. Anyone on here have a good source for crank work in the Ohio/mid west area? Post me a quote. I’ll need the whole crank checked for true, stator cheek pressed back to spec and welded & inspect all other welds. Also, quote me an option for 2 new (stator & drive side) 10 ball bearings. All the info you need should be in the first post. It would be a nice crank if it was fixed. Still don’t understand why it separated on the stator side. Let me do some checking and I’ll get back to you.
  19. Looking for a good low hours stock stroke welded crank I can use for a 70 horse power build. Must be well within yamaha specs. Wish I could go 4mm but I just raised my eahaust 1.5mm and my transfers 1mm
  20. Wow, How much can a Shee transmission take? I've never seen them break gears. I had nitrous wheeley bars and a slick on a RZ350 back in the 80s. All I ever broke were baskets.
  21. I just took the pics with a 3mp LG NV3 phone, They kinda suck.
  22. Americanbanshee is not the name he used on Ebay. This person uses the same name on Ebay as his Banshee HQ name.
  23. Not sure I follow, Do you have an over ride cause I know of no bike you can just bang the shifter under load and get it to go into the next gear without the clutch or a snap of the throttle.
  24. Gonna give him a chance, Just go the crank tonight. Hope I don't have to go thru Ebay and PayPal to get a refund. Anyone got a good used low hour welded stock stroke crank for sale??? What would it cost to get this one fixed?
  25. Won this Hot Rod stock stroke crank on Ebay. It was suppose to be a 10 ball trued and welded with 30 minutes run time on it. What I got was a Hot Rod with a busted weld and a .057" rod side clearance (clearly seperated). It did have a single 10 ball bearing on the stater side (what's up with that) What pisses me off is the seller is a Banshee HQ member, and how obvious the problems are with this crank. In fact, the crank was for sale on this forum a couple weeks ago. Not naming any names at this time. Going to see if he makes it right. crank pic.pdf
