  1. Check your axle bearings. When checking chain tension, measure slack, rotate the wheels a Half turn and check again. Do this eight times keeping track of the slack each time. Do you have a "Tight spot"? (Sprocket oval or chain has a stretched area) If the chain is stretched in a spot, you need a whole new chain and sprockets.
  2. It allows you to fine tune when the spark happens. I don't know what the stock timing is (sorry). When you adjust the plate to +4, the spark happens four degrees plus whatever the stock timing is on the crank before the piston reaches top dead center (TDC). To me, it makes the engine feel snappier. It won't give you another 15 HP or blow you away. But, in combination with other mods, it definitely makes a difference.
  3. Sorry man, I was just kidding about the boost bottle. (do a forum search on boost bottle) Anyway, you really can't go wrong at +4, I think it is the most recommended.
  4. I have stock bore, stock porting and a pro design cool head with 19 cc domes. I run 91 octane just fine. I can't remember what the PSI is.
  5. I have a sony handycam with HDD (30gb disk drive) It takes great movies in very good quality. But it saves them in a format that is not directly compatible with iMOVIE (mac) I have to convert the file, which can take a lot of time before I can edit it. This is the fault of Apple computer, not Sony. So, I guess ultimately I really don't have a complaint about the Sony. It is very compact, and seemingly more rugged than a tape or disk media. I have had it over a year and it works well. I bought it used off of Ebay for a little over $400 I like the idea of the Casio EXILM with super slow motion. I think it goes to 1200 FPS (very low res) or something. I haven't used one though so before I invested I would definitely want to play with one first .
  6. I've got 19cc domes no porting. My plate is at +4 and it really makes a seat of the pants difference. You have a boost bottle tho, you might want to back it off to +2.
  7. My wife found this for me: http://supercrossonline.com/tracks/index_html Does anyone know of a video showing a track being built in fast forward? I just watched the AMA supecross St Louis episode and it got me inspired.
  8. I have a Dynoport 2into1. I was riding around my track, and my neighbor came over on his YFZ450R (Stock) He made a comment. This pretty much sums it up... "I heard a lot of noise over here, but not much movement..." With a 2into1 on, I get beat by a stock 400EX. I wasted $550 on this pipe. Don't make the same mistake! :geek: Hope this helps.
  9. Wow that is awesome! Since it isn't really a pistol anymore, it is more of a rifle, maybe you wouldn't need a permit to carry? I wonder what the holdup is? They should be selling those if they aren't already. They should make it so it requires your fingerprint to open it.
  10. I have a '85 and '86 250R, both are modified. My Banshee will beat them both. Put a corner in the track and the Banshee will REALLY kill them! Speaking of 250R's, Check out this abomination: (pretty hilarious):
  11. Upper shock mount prolly won't line up. I haven't looked, but that is my guess.
  12. They whittle a 1 1/8 bar down to 7/8 so standard grips and perches fit.
  13. That is freakin disgusting. Our chevy motorhome had a similar incident. One of the keepers let go or something, and the exhaust valve boinked the piston. It bent the stem, and jammed it up in the guide, so it didn't cause a major problem, except that cylinder quit running. I just took a vice grip and gave the stem an extra kink to make SURE it wouldn't fall into the cylinder. We put 2200 miles on it running on seven cylinders. Made it back home, had the head rebuilt, and she has been good to go ever since. Pretty tough to make it home with a one cylinder quad that is not running on one cylinder though.
  14. Try a little heat on the outside of the carrier then tap on it. If you don't want to flame the carrier, you could try a heat gun.
  15. I don't feel like researching the whole thing but this sums it up: http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/quran911.asp
  16. Anyone who actually owns/rides a quad knows that the more comfortable you are, the faster you can go. Riding around on a quad that positions you as though you have your hands on your knees, bent over like you are waiting for your cell mate is as gay as the image I just put in your head. Learn how to ride fast, and prove you can do so before you come around complaining about what everyone else's quad looks like.
  17. 105, as in MPH? The best thing you can possibly do in those situations, is say "WOW, Really? Cool!?" You gotta say it like you mean it. Then extricate yourself from the area as soon as possible. Unless you like to just stand around and bullshit. Trust me, you can never win against those people. And if you do beat them, it is because "it wasn't running quite right" Good Luck!
  18. Give it time. Arctic Cat will pull through and get that law adjusted.
  19. Dayum Nice! I don't think I have ever gotten a "deal" on ebay...
  20. Cool! I have a couple '85's and a '86 ATC. One of the 85's is totally apart. It was a race trike, and it has the smaller racing tank and tight-radius tripple. That is going to be a tough one to restore. I think the frame is bent. The other '85 is fully restored, and I haven't ridden it since 1998. My '86 is the one I ride (when it runs). The counter balance bearing seat in the right case half is wrecked, I think from a spun bearing. I have a new case half, but I am just too lazy to put it back together. I have a 24x32 shed that I am cleaning out. It is going to be my ATV hideout, so hopefully this winter I can get the '86 going again. The done '85: The '86:
  21. Yeah when I told my wife I had to get a new tap because I reamed out my spindle to make the shaft fit with bigger balls, I sure got "the look" :ermm:
