  1. Thanks zach, ill change mains and try messing with needle. Guess its just all or nothing.. Better rich than lean.
  2. Thanks everyone. Ill try stepping back to 280, and mess with the rest. I thoight the 280 was way too rich as my plugs were always wet. Maybe its just too rich in middle. Does one main size make that big of a diff on the needle? You being at 500 ft, id think ud need to be alot more rich than me. Gues a main size is a lot more of a diff than I thought. And 06special edition having an aggressive dune port and only a few sizes larger on mains baffles me.. Well, again guess one size make a bigger diff than I thought.
  3. Sweet, thanks man! Guess theres just no gradual climb to power band. Its all or nothing..
  4. What you think about the needle? Middle or 1 to blunt?
  5. Ok, thanks Brandon. Ill switch back to the 280. What about the bogg from idle to full throttle?
  6. Been running the 280s year round. But it bogged bad till top end. With the 270s it ran great, better mid than ever. Just seemed like it was dying right before band hit, then would seem like it ran outta gas after climbing sand mountain. Im puzzled, 280 seemed rich and 270 lean... Ill get the plugs out and post some pics.
  7. Hey guys, 2006 with cpi inframes, K&N on proflow adapter and no lid, and tors removed at 5k feet asl. So ive been running rich since new, recently with current mods at 280 mains, needle at 2 notch from blunt, stock pilots. And it spits oil out the back, plugs are always wet. But it ran good in power band, low good, and mid decent but bogg right before power band. I always just ran in power band and no probs. So I decided to finally stop being a wuss and lean it a little. Went to 270 mains, needle in middle, and stock pilots. It runs awesome low and mid, I can putt around barely on throttle and give gas and it goes. But it seems like it wants to die right before powerband, almost as if I should downshift, then it hits hard and rips for a bit then seems like its running outta gas. Like when my floats werent adjusted good. Floats are good now, plugs looked good, light tan colored. I did have a plug vibrate out too on sat, guess after pulling to check jetting so much I should have put new ones in, crush gasket must be worn. Any ideas? Am I too lean maybe, or still too rich. After riding, the silencers still had a little oil on them, but wasnt dripping like before.
  8. The threads do not need to go all the way into the throat. I made that mistake, and the tap was tappered and smashed the threads so the screw pushed in. The idle screw isnt threaded all the way to the tip, so no need to force threads all the way in. just tap until the tap bottoms out, right were the threads end. Gotta grind the outside flat and the same on both sides. I ground mine till the tappered part on the inside wasnt tappered. I had to jb weld the one messed up, and re tap. It works, but id prefer to not have done that.
  9. Ill do it. Got some new files and super glue from harbor freight....
  10. Looks good, just cant pull the trigger. Paid way too much to hack em up.. Well thats whats holding me back.
  11. Anyone got pics of their 06 se with cut fenders? I keep going back and forth on cutting them, hard to do when I bought it new..
  12. Where u at, whats ur elevation? Im in utah, 5k above sl.
  13. Saw ur pics of riding, what did u figure out on this?
  14. Probably not if ur getting good rev the first half. But tors, or parking brake could cause a bogg, but right from get go more than likely. How aggressive of a port u got? Park brake still hooked up?
  15. O, is that what happens?
  16. Well if its rich, filters are clean and all. Start droping 1 size at a time and see how shee runs. If u drop one at a time, run it, youll know where it needs to be by feel and sound. Then check plugs to make sure ur not too lean. Its pretty much trial, plugs dont look soaked so no need to drop more than one at a time. Then u end up with diff sizes for when weather and elevation change. But if u dont want spares, most places will exchange if their clean.
  17. Scratches happen when u actaully ride. I leave mine, dont care too much...
  18. How much cleaner u spray in there? Enough to fill the bowls?
  19. Denser air from lower elevation means more air, need to richen jets (bigger for mains).
  20. Idk man, mains still sound rich if its not coming alive at wot. U try giving them k&t boys a call?
  21. Definitely sounds rich. Get it figured out?
  22. Just do it by eye and feel. Really simple, once u start messing with it, youll know where they need to go.
  23. I had the needle one towards the blunt, wonder if I should put it back there?
