  1. Because the cracks in the right side fenders were painted over. Under the lights, the night that I bought them, they looked decent although I'd already decided I was stripping the paint off of them. It wasn't until I got them home and got some if the paint stripped off that I realized that they were cracked. That was also the point to where I couldn't file a claim through eBay because I'd tampered or modified them from the state they were in when I purchased them. I won't be doing anything like this again for sure.

  4. Eh well hindsight is 20/20 you know. I just found this problem last night. During this whole build I've had so much trouble with buying parts one day and then on down the road when I get ready to use them they're wrong and I'm SOL. It's been 4-1/2 years since I brought it home and tore it down. I get out of the mood to work on it really easily when things start going wrong on account of how much money I've got in it and have never even ridden it. I'm just wanting it done lol...
  5. Maybe one of them siphoned some fuel when you were away from it?
  6. Actually just sold them last week for $10 shipped. One glass was cracked, one was missing an adjustment screw, and both grilles were tattered. I guess I should say that I assume that they were the originals. I'm by far not the original owner of the bike so they could've been changed before I bought it but those were the ones that were on it.
  7. Heat gun. Much easier to control and moderate the heat. It's extremely easy to burn the plastic.
  8. The original headlights from my '97 were glass. These plastic ones are much nicer IMO but useless at the moment.
  9. Well fellas I just confirmed how bad I got screwed with this deal. At first the right front fender was cracked and I'd planned on just cutting the front plastics, thinking that the rears would be fine and I'd still end up with a decent set. Now tonight I've gotten about 90% of the paint off and found a big fat crack on the top side of the right rear fender also. I'm probably gonna just end up trying to sell these to someone that wants to cut front and rear. That's about all they would be good for. I just can't justify spending all of this money on my 'shee and then putting a half-ass set of plastics on her. This sucks... FWIW a heat gun does absolute wonders on getting the paint off AND I get to shine up the plastic at the same time. Luckily for me whoever painted them didn't put any kind of primer on them or even scuff them up, just painted right over them. Regardless of me getting rid of them or not, the first good pressure wash I'd have given them would've peeled the paint in sheets. Chris
  10. This wasn't from eBay, unfortunately they were off of this forum.
  11. Ya I'll have to check and see who that was. It's really no big deal I guess seeing as how they can easily be swapped out but it still blows that I'm gonna have to cut into the original wiring. That was the main thing I was trying to keep from doing throughout this whole wiring fiasco.
  12. Without. Only stock reed petals need the stops.
  13. Ok so with that being said, does '02-'06 have the same wiring harness?
  14. That's on the headlight side. I don't have the wiring harness ran yet so I just pulled it out of the box and tried to find the matching connector and when I couldn't match anything up I got kinda hacked off. What year did they start putting brake light switches on them? I know my '97 didn't have one so I sold it to try to buy one that I could connect a brake light with to be able to run my LED brake/tail light. Maybe it would help if I found out what year this harness was off of.
  15. Dangit that sucks. Can you possibly send me a pic of your connectors for your '06 lights? I guess I'm gonna have to find some different terminals and try to swap them out. I thought it was kinda funny that they had the same ends as my '97 lights I just sold but I just assumed it was a part that Yamaha hadn't changed over the years.
  16. Do $45 shipped to 38572 on all of the domes?
  17. Maybe you can get something from that lousy pic.
  18. To make a long story short here I bought a newer model wiring harness from minkia38 that was supposed to work with an '06 and prior years that use the same harness. I know my headlights are off of an '06, or at least that's what the seller told me. But my headlight connectors and wiring harness don't match. Is there another small harness that does just the headlights or what? Can someone show me the part of the harness that plugs into the headlights? Chris
