  1. thanx for all the leads guys now i can go do some shoppin! i have a feeling though that cascade dont ship to aus...
  2. lol riiiiiight, i had never even thought of not doing it on the piston! thanks guys
  3. can you buy special feeler guages or something? the fingers on my feeler guages are like half an inch wide, cant see how you would measure the gap with them?
  4. im tired of paying through the ass for genuine base gaskets... what can i use instead and where do i get em from thanks, mark
  5. does anyone wanna send me some used 795 series pistons? im in australia so if anyone has some old ones that they would be willing to give away i would be happy to pay shipping and take em off ya i just want em for dummy assembly so they dont have to be usable thanks, mark
  6. can i use wiseco rings on oem pistons and how do i measure ring end gap, and what are the tolerances thanks, mark
  7. lol if its true i will buy one just to confuse the heck out of my mates!
  8. i thought about all those things too. will have to have a chat to some pipe builders and go from there, apparently MOTA (the tuning software i want to buy) is pretty good at pipe design and facilitates all the bends you could ever want without compromising the specific dimensions of the pipe
  9. racers edge is fresh out and they say new ones will be quite a while away can any one help with some new ones they might have that they dont need right away? if not is there any where else we mgiht be able to get them? thanks, mark
  10. thanx for your reply man it is nipping up al around the piston... some more bore clearance should fix the problem though we are worried that we have the wrong cylinders for the 7mm crank, as none of the port timings make any sense.. also like i said none of the port floors are flush with the piston at BDC, they are all below... but the piston is flush with the deck at TDC. base gasket surface to head gasket surface is 108.5mm... does this sound right? do you cut the windows of your pistons to fully uncover the intake? thanks again, mark
  11. I figure if I try to use a 10mm crank and a spacer that allows the pistons to only pop 2mm out the top (like a 4mm with no spacer
  12. thanx man your banshee looks unreal!
  13. no problem they are at work, pm your email and i will pass them on actually hit rzbanshman up for them, they have blocked me from the hq at work lol so i might not get them to you until tonight (my time)
  14. ha yeah man i havent even run the numbers for a 10mm crank but im guessing transfer duration would be like 140 degrees! anything below 8000rpm and the mixture would prolly blow right out the exhaust! can anyone tell me how far it is from the top of the barrel to the top of the transfers on a standard banshee cyl? thanks, mark
  15. if i run a spacer and bump the height of the barrels up to suit a 10mm crank, the roof of the transfer ports will end up too high without even grinding them... how do you suggest i "lower" the transfer port roofs without making a custom sleeve for some standard cyls?? you may very well be able to use a 10mm crank with banshee cyls, as they prolly have less transfer timing than an RZ... i cant check that at the moment though as my banshee cyls are at the machine shop. RZbansheeman thanks for the offer but i have downloaded a bunch of port maps and i have mapped these new barrels myself to check that they were standard and yeah, a 10mm def cant be done, might not even be able to do a 7mm but im def gonna try everything before i bite the bullet and buy a 4mm instead! i think i do know what im talking about...
  16. he has a banshee and a yfz450 in his sig.. im tryin to show my buddy what his banshee looks like and cant find a post that he has made! anyhelp greaty appreciated! thanks, mark
  17. didnt u read what i just wrote? if the extra stroke is gonna push the piston out of the barrel, then your gonna need a plate.... no two ways about it! and the plate may just raise the ports too high that it will make the powerband unridable... so who gives two hoots and a holler if the 10mil crank cost the same! if it aint gonna work it aint gonna be worth a pinch of shit!
  18. i just measured up a standard wiseco pro lite piston and it seems from the edge of the piston to the top of the first ring land is 3.5mm, which means the top of the ring is going to be flush with the deck at TDC looks like i will have to run at least a 1mm spacer under the barrels to make it reliable
  19. i doubt it i checked the port timings today with the 7mm crank and the transfer may already be too high, so it will be even worse with the 10mil also with the 10mil the top ring will almost certainly be above the deck at TDC without a spacer plate, and a spacer plate will make the transfer timings even worse is there anyone on here running a 7mil on stock cyls prolly wont help me anyway, as i think rz transfers are higher from standard than a banshee
  20. yup yup i know i need to get the cases trenched, no biggy never handled a set of 795s but that is prolly what i will use as i want to use the longer rods the standard wisecos top ring is about 5mm below the top of the piston i believe, can anyone tell me what the 795 is?
  21. i bought another rz top end yesterday (stock) and want to get it ported for a 7mm crank will i be able to get away with not using a spacer and taking up the extra stroke with some custom domes? does anyone on here run standard cyls with a 7mm crank? thanks, mark
  22. what should the exhaust and transfer port durations be on a trex? (roughly) this one only has 182 degrees exhaust and 120 degrees transfer, which seems very mild to me?
  23. cool, i was really hopin they had some sort of arrangement like that!
  24. it seems i am a retard and read all the durations wrong the first time around... i used a dial indicator to find TDC tonight and re-measured everything... ex duration : 202 degrees fr trans: 126 degrees rear trans: 116 degrees so they are a little less radical than i first thought! i think im gonna go with the PT high revs... sredish do you think ill get more top end out of them than the toomeys or about the same
  25. what! of course its going to run, why wouldnt it! the cdi comes with 5 curves including stock rz, as does the pv controller, so that will give me something to work on.. its going to be fun! gonna try and book a day on the dyno to play with everything once i got it all on!
