  1. I never heard of too rich can make it run hot. Can someone explain why?
  2. If you cant 60' worth a crap, youll be playing catch up.
  3. Nope, sure didnt know. Now i do, thanks. I never bothered learning how much about drag ported cylinders since i didnt ever plan on owning a set. Now im trying to learn more. You never know what the future holds.
  4. 75-83, i assume that wasnt on pump gas?
  5. I've never been. I have sand hill about 2 hours from me. Been there once. Sad thing is, no one local rides much. Not a banshee in site. Guess ill go hit the spillway once that opens. I'm sure it will be total crap. It's fun to run 45-50hp drag bike 4 strokes though there when they show up.
  6. The person who ported your juggs will be able to answer best. If he cant, you should of had him do your engine work. Give him a call tomorrow during business hours and find out. As for being faster than another bike, line them up and find out.
  7. Would 6 stock springs work with a lot of weight? That way, the clutch is a very light pull.
  8. Yes, you need to rejet. 99% of the time when making a big change on the exhaust or intake side, it needs rejetting.
  9. Good luck trying to get the bike to hook with a ported 4mil. It will be a fun bike though with a broad power band. Maybe budget in about $300 more dollars to get a good pro mode trans from redline. An undercover slingshot from vito's would be nice. You can run more weight than needed and have a very light clutch pull because you dont have to use 6hd springs. If i did a lot of trails, i would do suspension before more power. for a 4 mil, you can get your juggs ported than run a different piston so you dont have to use a spacer plate. The person porting the cylinders can tell you the best domes, pipe and carb combo better than any of us can. There's no way id run a 4mil crank without a good port job on it. I like to make any engine combo i have very efficient. My old 4mil was very smooth on power delivery and had good top end for a play bike with cpi's and small 30mm carbs. A properly set up 4mil play bike will hold it's own against your typical 450/700 in a drag race(assuming you can 60' your banshee and drive).
  10. I'm still curious about ASV refurbs. Id like a cheap set for my yz250.
  11. this is true. I have had those reeds since 08 and they are untouched. So after all, i may bite my tongue and get some vf4's. I've already decided the budget i had was a joke. Some vf4's would be a drop in a bucket lol. Thanks guys.
  12. Talked to my future builder yesterday about if i should switch from 3's to 4's. It was an easy choice. I'm keeping my 3's for my 10mil build coming soon.
  13. that's what i intend to do. If i trust a forum more than my builder, i need to find a new builder. I'm not sure what they sell, honestly dont care. But it will be redlines.
  14. So what 10mil crank you run dirty? I agree gotta. I've heard crap about hotrods. I beat mine to death and it works fine. If it's still good, i will save it just in case i want to build a second bike one day. A low compression 80-90hp engine on pump gas doesnt seem too stressful.
  15. What about some +3+1? I see some +2+1 but it's doesnt say sport. I want something tough. I dont mind a little extra weight. I want strength. It has to be +3+1. I checked roll design and LSR's site.
  16. If it hooks and he can drive^ Usually the dirtbike cant launch hard due to spinning. My yz250 is an easy 45hp but due to it spinning, it suffers in a drag race. 450 dirtbikes are TQ monsters and even quicker/faster.
  17. What what tire on what terrain rjdgriff? I just have 1st-5th and i like to use all my gears. I keep 1st decent so i can cruise around and take off without too much slipping. I run pro wedge 2's full time. And of course billet breaks. He said that. But i want stronger than forged so billet it is. Do it once, do it right. Now it's time to research suspension. I still have stock suspension. shame on me.
  18. As I told them on the phone, im not interested in dyno numbers. the extra stroke will help me set up my chassis how I want. Im hoping to be able to launch in 1st with a 16t front instead of a 15t. We shall ssee. The billet crank will set me back another month but im not risking forged.
  19. Looks like im going 10mil
  20. Yup, Power under the curve is what you need to look at. Speaking of, awaiting a call back from Redline. Time to get it done.
  21. a ported 4 mill will be enough. Mine would destroy my yz250. You NEED traction though.
  22. Your porter can answer best
  23. And dyno numbers dont win races either. I will call up redline and get some quotes. I will probably wait to get everything at once so i dont have a pile of parts taking up space. I agree loco. If i had the funds, id of ordered everything long time ago. I've got other toys that need fixen first.
  24. I have the vito's slingshot and the cascade invocations pancake bearing. I had a cheaper pancake bearing and it didnt work with the slingshot. I welded my rod twice in 5 minutes. I split the cases and put a the quality cascade bearing it. Ran 3+ years like that. It's going back in for the rebuild.
  25. My bike isnt stretched nor do i plan to extend the swing arm. i think the addition of 10 the mil crank set up may be the difference between too much for my bike. I have no clue what it takes to set up a 10mil serval. A quick look on Redline site says billet cranks run about $1000($1300 for big pins). I remember reading there have been some issues with 8 and larger stroker cranks coming apart. I wont believe redline sells junk cranks so im not sure where those got cranks from. Probably ching chong cranks in china or something. Then there's another $100 for case trenching. I think 10mil is the limit on stock cases. The matoon cases isnt an option for what i do. I already have a dune able override and slingshot so that isnt an issue. I need new carbs so i have to buy a new set regardless. Whatever i decide on, will be calling redline once funds allow it and i will ask them what i need, then order everything they say. That way the motor is set up perfect. Then it will be up to me to set up my chassis the way i want. The biggest problem with me is, i have never ridden other banshees much. I just know where i want the power at and i know i cant have much fun with drag porting. The transition from stock stroke on pump to race gas with a 4mil was amazing though. Sorry for running off topic, just thinking out loud. Feel free to give advice.
