  1. Thanks guys, Pics comming after the 4th of July weekend. I had a really tough time setting up the rear I had to get the inner box of the swingarm opend up and re gusseted so the bigger wider spring would fit. I still have some more setting up and testing where I like my 3 way adjustments so I can be rite on for my trails and where to click for other terrain Ill be on this comming weekend and some pre load settings while Im on the bike my mechanic/builder can set me up exactly rite. Ive rode with him for years so he nailed the XC Pro valveing from Elka wich is dead on. I want to get some action shots as well but I dont know whos gonna hold the cam while I ride a cheapy helmet cam is what I need to show you how well these shocks absorb everything and anything I go over or jump. I also need shock covers for the muddy shit.
  2. What a NOSS Head does is it is cut billit aluminum which already is a cooling factor and they cut your collant passages and the hi temps Banshees run they really cool it off over the stock head. The NOSS Heads also come with rubber O Rings so no more head gaskets and one of the coolest things is you can switch out domes say you want 21cc domes and +4 timing advance for just play riding there you go, but if you decide you want to go all out and add as much compression the Banshee motor can take you can switch them out for mabey 18cc or 17cc domes. Im pretty tired but I think that should clear somethings up. Also what you said about seeing how the mods work before you add more is the best way to do it. Ive seen guys spend top dollar get everything done at once and hate it. Ive seen that too many times.
  3. clean up as much as you can use one of those magnitized antennas then drain your oil and see how much is in there. Youll get the idea weather it needs pulled apart ot not is how I would do it.
  4. on what terrain were they racing on traction wins races? and Yes yfz450s are damn fast depends on alot of things including riders skill.
  5. what do you have in the way of mods? a Noss Head with smaller domes and a timing plate set to +4 (18cc domes and +7 timing is the shit but you would need race fuel) will wake your lowend problems rite up.
  6. Go down on the gearing. For hillclimbs youll do very well with CPIs cause they sign on with nice lowend at lower rpms and can rip your hands off after you open em up. CPIs are actualy a good all around pipe as well and they fetch cash used. I dont like them because they stick out a bit to much for the way I ride in the woods. Shearers GRRs and some other OOF pipes are just for high RPMs cause thats where they are needed if your going to drag race.
  7. Yo you have to get new tires before you do anything. Thats gonna be whats holding your power to the ground and making it feel like a whole new bike. Most anything is better than stock I recomend Razr 2s over razrs they are much beefier
  8. very simple just remove the screw push out the old bushing push the new one in with a little grease and youll be good to go.
  9. you dont nessacerely have to have the faster bike to win its all about rider skill espically in the trails. 2005 Yamaha Banshee SE : STOCK Upcoming Mods: Toomey T5s--TORS Removal--K&N Pods w/ Outerwears--VForce 3 Reeds and Cage--Jetting--Timing Plate You definatly should look into a Noss Head or if you wanna do it for less cost you could get your head milled .030. More if you are willing to put race fuel in her. Advancing your timing is a huge deal and a great bang for you buck also I have mine set at +4 with 20cc domes but thats only cause I dont wanna have anything to do with race fuel this season. K@N Filters will let her breath easyer and if you really plan on getting her ported you can look into carbs that will fit with your port job style so thats something to think about also. I really dont recomend a port job untill you see how all of the mods above are tested by you. That way you will know exactly what you want. BTW- what kind of tires do you have on and do you plan on changing anytime soon. Stock Banshee tires suck they just spin espicaly with bolt on mods.
  10. did you check your reeds to see if they are opening and for cracks ect.. you should look for air leaks too and make damn sure your filter is spotless. While your at it get a TORS removing kit and get and e brake block off as well About the 50:1 thats not enough oil getting into the gas unless your useing an oil that claims 8:1 or 100:1 and thats pure crazyness. Ide never even think about 50:1 unless that was all I had for the weekend 100:1 is insane I wouldnt do it it might make you a tad quicker but it will damage your already .80 over cyls. Just buy some yamalube 2R or Castor 927 (My Brand) and mix it at 32:1
  11. It says 1.6 in Clymers so what I do is buy 3 quarts of Motorex fully synthetic 10w30 and I get 2 oil changes with the three bottles.
  12. what type of porting are you looking for. Remember a dune/drag port makes for the fastest most HP motors but if your riding on trails it will can be to powerfull and that can make you slower than getting a more moderate port job. Plus with the more matieral taken out of you cyls calls for an extended swingarm and that is a handeling nightmare. Let us know what your future plans are. edit TR6s respond best to a stock or lightly ported motor they give more overall power while T5s are more of a mid/top end pipe. Im getting a 4mil agressive GNCC port for trails and I got PT Mids to switch out for my TR6s for that. I actualy still have my TR6s on now (Killer pipes) but Im gonna swap them this summer sometime and the PT Mids will be better suited for the type of power Im looking for with the extra stroke and power from the ports.
  13. not without an aftermarket swingarm I believe. Are you looking for a lower point like a linkage would give you for more travel as your going. If so you need to look at an aftermarket shock as well. I say Elka.
  14. You will notice a nice power imprt on low end to get you rite there too. Ide go with a billit one cause they will never break on you like I have heard the ricky stator and other cast cheapy one doing. Try to find a deal on a Pro Design one. Thats what I have and yes it was like $25.00 more but worth it.
  15. I think youll be alrite to bore it another 10th and more after that. Whoever you send your motor will tell you what the bore size is and what pistons youll be needing. Doing your own work is self gratifying and it splits the cost. Plus a Clymers will tell you everything you need down to the water plugs and last screw. NitroTate is also making a step by step dvd and Brandon Mull is viewing it so if that dude says its good youll know its good. Brandon Knows his shit.
  16. Ide say Razr 2s are your best bet. If I knew I was going to ride in anything rocky I would throw the Kendas out the window. The Razr 2s are a thick tire they are strong the hook and slide like a dream and they will last you a good long time over any of the others youve mentioned. Youll be happy you did and I bet you stay with them. Holeshots are a very good tire just not really made for a Banshee. Ide put them on a 250R in a second though.
  17. good tips guys. You cant be afraid of the Banshee or you will never be able to ride a wheelie. I think Banshees are centered suitablie for wheelies. Just start hard and never look back. It wont bite you and if you want to learn that bad you will be doing them tomorow. You should also learn how to powerslide around corners or just bust a Uie in the middel trail!
  18. just keep it that way and run 110 octane. If you go down on your compression you will greatly sacrifice low and mid pull and thats what you want with a trail bike.
  19. Ok Ive been expirenceiing some fitting issues with the rear spring on the stock swingarm with the LT Linkage and shock so I had the inner swingarm box cut welded to fit. Finaly got it on there and wow. My trail starts out with a hill full of huge choppy rocks the turns hard into a choppy rocky whoops section which I used to adjust the throttle accordingly with stock suspension now I just blow through it rite in a jump that sennds you over a hill onto my own private shooting range and onto all sorts of stuff from there on. Little bit of everything. I had these shocks setup for XC PRO and my weight and Im still adjusting on the HI/LO Comp rebound and preload on the rear (Once you get shocks with HI/LO Comp you will never want to go back ever) I might need a new rear spring since it is pretty rough but I havent got my mechanic to ride with me and set it with me on it yet so who knows rite now. All I can really say is yet it was a costly perchace its damn well worth it and Elka has their shit down to a science. Im happy I dident go with the other "TOP" Brands!
  20. what elevation do you ride at?
  21. Yeah little dude you should be fine getting +2+1 a arms and cranking the preload to make them a lil stiffer from the extra levrage you will be putting on the springs of them shocks from going to a wider stance. You can get new and stiffer Main springs from WORKS for like 50 bucks and that will be fine once you start getting a little bigger. Like NYUK said flip them rims on the back so the air tubes (where you filll them) are backwards. Youll gain 2" and its free. Welcome to the addiction
  22. rite Kodie, it does increase low to mid but and hi from stock carbs so all around its better. If you ride in the desert Ide probably go for duals
  23. did you jet it for riding in the cold if so your mains are to big
  24. that 400ex better have a 426 kit run on race fuel and have axis shocks all around to even consider trading for a 400ex. 400exs suck dude they are slow as shit and have nothing in comparison of power in terms of the Banshee. You should look for a 450 Like Loco said you dont even belong on a Banshee spewing this shit out.
  25. I was gonna go with Laegers because they are damn good a arms and Ive seen them in action on some hard raced bikes and Ive never seen a broken set Honostly though I went with Lonestar because A. They are just as good and B. they offer them in +2+1 and Laegers doesnt do the +1 forward anymore. I love my Lonestar arms and they are the Racing series caster and camber adjustable which was another big reason I bought them. I think I payed 650 for the arms and like 70 more for the breaklines from Lonestar.
