I'd hook a small hose to a shop vac 1st, then I would turn it on it's side or upside down & strategically spray with an aerosol cleaner/oil with hose, as not to push it towards any bearings. You could vac. while spraying too
I wouldn't slosh anything around in there 'till you know it's as clean as you can get 1st
If it was me , I would do a compression check and pull your pipes and see how scored your new Pistons are on the exhaust side
when you do a compression check see how gray your plugs are too

The way I read it rebuilt & ran good except trans got stuck in gear...took apart to change star & hasn't ran since so either coincidence and something grabbed out or something he unintentionally did while doing star? Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
