  1. I dont run diesle engine oil just know there are lots of people in the 4 stroke world that do. I havent seen a any diesel engine oil that has "Energy Conserving" in the certification doughnut seal. Oils that have energy concerving lable are usually high in molybdenum disulfide. It is a metalic like luberance and when it contaminates the clutch plates. Once the clutch plates are contaminated they need replaced. josh
  2. I bet he didn't if he used 15w40. You can use a Diesel Engine oil in your banshee. A lot of guys run Rotella T 5w40 synthetic in 4 stroke atvs and motorcycles. The non synthetic's are 15w40. Diesel engine oil doesnt contain friction modifiers like regular car enine oil. The hard shifting in to neutral is probably caused by the fact that 15w40 is a thick oil. You want to run a light oil to help improve shifting. As for stop leaks, dont use them. If it is leaking that bad then just fix the problem right.
  3. When are you going to get a 4 mill crank and do it all over again?
  4. Yea you might be right since a blaster piston is about .025 in shorter than a banshee piston. If your doing a 4 mill crank then it might not be nessessary though.
  5. I think you might have been able to use the bulb electrical socket off of them. At lease you could have spliced on the wiring plugs so you didnt have to chop your new harness.
  6. do you have your original 97 head lights?
  7. I love brownies and cookies cooked on a 60w light bulb.
  8. Yea and the really old head lights will be glass not plastic.
  9. Just being a modern carb is worth it.
  10. That is easy enough fix. Get some Turbine Core 2's. They are a 100% USFS approved spark arrestor. They also are a much better designed spark arrestor. They done use a screen. There are fins in side the silencer that spin the exhaust like a tornado. That forces pieces of carbon to smash against the sides of the chamber. A USFS approved spark arrestor has to ethire catch particles of carbon or break them up. If you need them to be quite get fmf Q's they are spark arrested and quiet. FMF Turbine Core 2's sound like regular powercore's The Q http://www.fmfracing.com/Products/ATV/113 Turbine Core II http://www.fmfracing.com/Products/ATV/116
  11. Not unless you have the moeny to file the paperwork and pay for the testing to get it approved. The only thing with those screens is you only flowing exhaust through the screen the diameter of the perforated core. Normal spark arrestors use the entire screen for more flow. Plus those screens wont pass if they check. They normally use a landscaping flag and stick it in the pipe. The screen looks like it is to large and it will go right through. If you get all through this then they check to see if the pipe is stamed with the USFS Approved stamp WITH the spark arrestor #.
  12. Here is the conectors I got the Professional Kit CK-1. It comes with a nice crimp tool and a good assortment of conectors. http://vintageconnections.com/
  13. Yes according to yamaha's parts catalogue. 2002 and 2006 have the same part number for the main wiring harness. 5FK-82590-00-00 02 is also when they started putting the tail / brake light insted of only the tail light from 87-01. So your wiring harness is a 2002-2006. Your head lights are the older style. The seller of the head lights is the one who hosed you.
  14. Is that pic of the head light plug or the banshee wiring harness?
  15. Yea that looks like my 97's as well. I just had trailtechs on it when I bought it. I put some new 06 head lights that I bought on ebay. I have a nice bullit conector / crimp set. They have the clear flexable silicone cover / jacket. I just used those. That way I could unplug them if I need to. I used female plugs on the banshee's wiring harness + high and low, and a male plug on the banshee's - wire.
  16. I am going to say stock since there is no picture.
  17. The 06 head lights I bought had a white triangle 3 wire plug. What do you have?
  18. That will probably be more accurate. The problem for using it while riding is that the screen is small and it is a digital numbers and bar graph. An analog autometer tach would be a much better option for trieing to read while riding. Analog gauges are easier to read / comprehend in a split second. I would still buy one just dont count on looking at it while racing through the trees at high speeds.
  19. Stock Banshee with a Ricky Stator is -1 RS and RM stators are junk
  20. Do you have the rubber diaphragm in the reservoir
  21. Make sure you keep us up to date on how you like it.
  22. I have one it works good. I would also recomend the billit bar clamp/dash. You have to run resistor plugs or it will get all kinds of interfearance and reset all the time. I dont know how accurate the tach is since it is just an induction pickup.
  23. The whole assembly. Banshee cable with a hond thumb throttle. You might do some checking. I dont have any first hand experiance, just herd about guys running a honda thumb throttle.
  24. I think you can use a honda thumb throttle. Try the 400 ex thumb throttle on your banshee. See how it fells. If it is good then buy one used off of ebay.
  25. I took mine off because I didnt like it doing that. Longer lever requries a longer sweep so you will be pushing your thumb farther forward.
