  1. grab some silicone fuel line. its a little on the expensive side but its very good stuff and will probably be the last fuel line you ever need to buy. its flexible as hell so it can stretch a bit to get over bvig fittings. its pretty much tempature resistant. it never rots or cracks or hardens. also you dont need clamps with silicone, provided you arnt running any actual fuel pressure.
  2. i converted to dc so that i can run a radiator fan. the reason for this is because i somtimes do some really tight technical riding, the kind of 1st and 2nd gear action that normally overheats a banshee. what i did was wire it up so that the 2 wires comming out of the stator go to my full wave bridge diode mounted on a heatsink. 1 of those 2 wires also goes to the stock voltage regulator. so 2 wires go in the bridge diode, 2 wires come out. what goes in is ac comes out is dc. this dc is wired up to my lighting in such a way that my high-low-off light switch actually turns on my radiator fan instead of low beams when i have it set to low beam. when i set it to high beam then the fan turns off and my high beams come on. so i basically have no low beams anymore. what i do have is the ability to run a radiator fan during the day with no lights on, and at night when a radiator fan isnt needed it stays off and my lights are on. it seems to work great. havent burned out a stator yet.
  3. you shouldnt mix parts, if you rebuild ANYTHING it doesnt matter if its a pair of carbs or pistons or a pair of wheel bearings you should awalys seperate things into their own boxes/trays/whatever and clearly label them and keep them seperated. its OK to take apart both carbs at once. but you shouldnt ever have the left and right carb parts intermingling.
  4. im no expert on this but i will speculate that the cross over tube is good for equalising the air flow incase youre carbs are slightly unsynced. i think the tube makes slightly unsynced carbs still work OK in relationship to each other. for racing where you frequently do things like check floats and change jets and such a intake with no tube is probably OK because youre more apt to keeping the carbs in sync compared to a casual rider.
  5. thats pretty neat. ill be making use of that for the same reasons chase.
  6. theres an rz500 on ebay. its up to 10,000. like i said earlier, id love to have a 350 or heck even a 500, but they are so damned expensive for a bike that age.
  7. im in sebring, which isnt too far from tampa. i ride at http://www.crmotorsportspark.com/ whenever they are open. you should drop by sometime. it isnt all mud. theres drag races, lots of sand, shallow water, etc. its a blast to just play around.
  8. on the toomey website they mention that the hush kit adds a little more power to the upper end of the rpm range of the pipe, although toomey recomends the same mains needles and pilots for their t5's with or without the hush kit. the way i see it, more top end via exhaust mods means more pipe flow, so i would figure that adding the hush kit should require a step up in main jet size. toomey doesnt see it this way. i dont know what to say. for what its worth ill tell you my jetting. while it may or may not be perfect, i havent blown her up yet so its gotta be reasonably close. i run the t5's with hush kit on a 100% stock bike. i have 3 holes cut into the airbox lid with a 2 inch hole saw and no snorkel. my main is a 280, my STOCK needle is set on the second to last clip position from the sharp end. my pilots are 1 1/4 turns out and i run in 80-110 degree temps and 70-95% humidity at sea level.
  9. they are good for jusding the companys which sell them. for example, white brothers sells boost bottle. so i judge white brothers as a company that sells gimmicky items.
  10. on street bikes, there isnt too much of an issue with low hanging pipes. typically you dont have rocks and tree stumps on the road like there is when 4 wheeling, so low hanging pipes usually dont encounter any problems. to guy guy askin about rz bikes, they are very basically a banshee with 2 wheels and fully street legal.
  11. from an airflow standpoint, those grilles he is selling look pretty good. i have seen some grilles, espically the "flames" ones which look like they block off 50% of the radiators airflow. for something like a banshee which runs hot enough as it is, blocking off 50% of the airflor to the radiator doesnt seem like a good idea. maybe if it was winter or something that would be different.
  12. an estimate could never be given unless you know whats wrong with the tranny, and this you did not state in youre topic.
  13. i wouldnt even think about it for $10. i guess in theory these things could do some small work. i have seen reed cages which incorporate a similar looking design, but come on, for $100 each, thats just rediculous. youd be better off buying something which actually makes a difference for $200, like some tyres, or getting the head shaved and other minor engine work.
  14. my dads been to pikes peak a couple times, both on and off season. he says its a very cool road to drive, one of those roads that everyone should go down once in their life.
  15. one day im going to have to get me one of those bikes, but they are wicked expensive for their age.
  16. $100 for that damned thing. and you probably need 2 of them for a banshee. reminds me of one of those tornado fuel savers.
  17. start the bike up and hold a flat file to the flywheel as the bike is idling. the metal shavings will fly around and it gets pretty loud so be sure to wear osha approved ear and eye protektion.
  18. sence you said hes local i would visit his house twice daily untill you catch him outside. then park youre car behind his so it blocks his exit. run up and demand youre parts back, or sufficent CASH to re emburse you for those parts. i wouldnt let him go in the house though. make him pay you right there on the spot. if he tries to leave block him with youre body. if he gets voilent then knock his ass out and take the money out of his wallet. one thing i wont stand for is getting jerked around. in my eyes you are justified in youre actions.
  19. its way too big. its annoying.
  20. although not banshee, i was cleaning and rebuilding carbs when i was 10 years old. i dont see how anyone can be so ignorant. carb work is painfully simple. jetting is more complex ill give you that, but just basic carb cleaning and rebuilding? come on its just some tweeky aluminum and brass parts. you take everything apart clean it all and put it back together in the same way you took it apart. you dont even need an instructional book for this. just basic memory skills.
  21. i came on the site the other day and my antivirus started going crazy. it kept blocking files but my web browser froze up and i couldnt even mouse the start menu. i had to manually shut the computer down via holding the power button for 5 seconds. i lost about 3 hours time in work on the computer. i (normally save every 3-5 hours). this bot problem is bullshit. im not normally one to complain but this is pathetic. Invision seems like some easy shit to compramise because these problems are concinoually ongoing. its problems like that that force me not to become a donating member. i guess im just a little pissed because i lost some work i was doing. instead of just bitching about the problem, ill offer a suggestion. why not move to another brand of software? hell put up a fund drive if ya have too. i would probably donate to that. i know its probably a pain in the ass to convert over to a new forum software but hell its also got to be a pain to be patching the forum and deleting worms and all that kind of shit on a continual basis. sorry for my bitching, i guess im just venting. "Maybe someone should send Game4all a few toys to play with, there has to be someone on here that is knowledgeable with this kind of stuff to send them a couple of nice surprises." yeah man its called we find the location of their operations and break in there, beat everyone up and steal their computers and sell them on ebay.
  22. really tight technical woods riding and obsticle avoidance is more suited for a 4stroke if you think about it, the banshee doesnt have as nice of a suspension as a more modern quad. the banshee when not on the pipes is also pretty tame and it does get tiresome shifting all the time. the banshee goes reasonably good anywhere though. i do notice the big 4 strokes have an easier time than me going through the really technical stuff though. im not sure if thats because of their better suspension geometry or just the low end grunt of a 4stroke. everythings a tradeoff though. rider expierence and technique has alot to do with it too. put it this way, when im out trail riding i can hang with the big 4 strokes through most woods stuff, and then easily pass them on the straights. the faster you go the more beat up you are the next day so i dont push it too hard if i have a 3-4 days of riding to do. if i had to do it all over again id still get a banshee though. what it lacks in suspension and steering it makes up for in brute power, atleast that is my opinion. plus it seems like everybody loves a banshee. when my neighbor (who owns a 4 wheeler too) saw that i had a banshee he came over and imitated those dodge commercals about a hemi, only he said "dude you got a banshee, sweet". so theres alot that comes along with a banshee besides just the quad.
  23. it did at first. the front axle finally broke in half from comming down hard. i had to mig weld it back up with rebar for extra support. then i figured out if i blip the throttle when the fronts comming down it makes the touchdown nice and easy. no more broken front ends for me.
  24. anything acidic will work. weither its clr, coke, vinegar, radiator flush, etc. the acid eats away at the milerals, and to a small extent any steel or aluminum you have in the cooling system. just dont use muriatic acid and you should be OK.
  25. im about to put on a 15t front. im still running the stock rear. i ride mainly sand, trails, some asphalt. i find myself shifting too often. first is almost useless right now. its too slow for anything but driving up the ramps into the truck bed.
