In its own words, the mission of the Commission is to:
Administer U.S. trade remedy laws within its mandate in a fair and objective manner;
Provide the President, USTR, and Congress with independent, quality analysis, information, and support on matters of tariffs and international trade and competitiveness; and
Maintain the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States
Other tariffs can be applied or lifted due to laws Implemented by the president and senate. (who is responsible for appointing the commitee)
Atleast thats the way I gathered it from class.... Who is responsible for NAFTA? I dont think ITC is.. Bush passed that on his own and brought the immediate elimination of tariffs on more than one half of US imports from Mexico and more than one third of US exports to Mexico. The ITC just says wich is exempt and wich isn't under the law..
And I only argue for the sake of arguing.. when someone is being a douche and not acting civil..
