I had the same type of problem and found out that my plug caps were shot. It sounds like you're on the right track by getting new caps.

You should do a plug chop at 150 and take it from there. From 150 to 140 is a big jump when you haven't done a chop yet.

Why are you still running an airbox? Do you have the PJs set up right because they are a pain until adjusted correctly.
