  1. there are a few neat spots not far away from me. When it's all you have to ride it gets boring fast and the only thing that keeps it fun is riding with friends. If I drive out towards the cape I can find some decent sand dunes to ride. I don't have a banshee and never had a banshee. I am dying for one though thats for sure. I still got my dirtbike but as soon as I can I plan on selling that to get a shee.
  2. I live in New Bedford Massachusetts. Even with our limited riding places it's still more fun than street bikes. Less trouble too.
  3. It's a dream of mine to own a banshee, but I know I can't afford to buy one right now. If these other guys won't take it I definitly will. I am so stuck I'd owe you big time.
  4. I did that with my dirtbikes. Bad choice. All it lead to was tickets and hassles for me. The day I sold off my street bikes and hopped back on a dirtbike and ripped it as hard as I possibly could I never looked back. You can't ever get that feeling riding a streetbike.
  5. Round tube has more torsional stiffness than square tube. Thats why it is used on driveshafts in care. Being that a swinger takes a lot of torsional abuse I'd go round if I could.
  6. I am searching ebay for that kit you are talking about. I am not having any luck. What are some good keywords to finsing it?
  7. I am not talking about anyone really. Seems like you were there in person with him and he did such and such a time. Maybe since then he has done better against another 18mil. Who knows.
  8. people can go to walden more than once?
  9. I jsut thaught of another quick question... what are you doing for the oiling system for the turbo?
  10. probably a better idea to weigh the frame, drill it, and weigh it again, but I see your point haha.
  11. it's not like stock flow anymore since the air is being forced in and not sucked in. Makes for a lot more air in the combustion chamber thats for sure.
  12. Nice post and quite a bit more news for us people reading. I have had quite a few turbo's on motors and turbo'd a couple street bikes for customers so I see what they can do for numbers. People are worried about seals and what not, and if that comes to be a problem in the future you can always see if there is enough room to machine in O rings, then you will be all set. Absolute worse case scenario you have to buy some of them bad ass billit cases and have them machined for O rings. What model GSXR did you get the TB's off of, and how did you mount them? Custom intakes? What did you do about a fuel pump and battery?
  13. there is a chance that with the fuel injection it might not be bad at all. Fuel systems correct for air and what not so once you get a tune thats spot on. Megasquirt systems can read incomming air and change injector pulses as needed to make the air/fuel ratio you desire. With a decent wideband hooked up, and a good tune, unless there is a DRASTIC change in weather I definitly see it having a strong chance of not having to tune constantly. There is also a chance it will be so finicky it will be tuned all the time like past banshee's. Lets wait and see. I know I am interested. Also, if you could post some better pics of how you did the fuel injection set up that would be cool. What throtle bodies, intake, battery etc etc. I am definitly interested in this project. Seems really really cool. Good work!
  14. Do you have to RPM match down shifts? I gather engine braking is bad. What happens if you down shift a gear and don't give it quite enough gas for a split second to get the motor pulling in that gear, Will it damage anything?
  15. and that right there would have been an absolutely great reply at first. It lets me know it is not something to worry about until you are hitting high HP numbers, and good advice on sticking to more of the basic or more needed things for a banshee noob.
  16. well you came into a thread and blabbed about stuff that had absolutely nothing at all to do with the topic. All you did was talk down to a person trying to use a forum as a tool. As you put it, you need to crawl before you can sprint. Learning what stuff is, is part of crawling. I did use the search feature about this too. Problem is the results come back way too broad. I'd search for overrides and get people saying "yeah I have a 1-5 override in my cub motor" but I never really found anything explaining exactly what it is, and the functions of it. Putting a cart before a horse is a stupid thing to do. In order for someone to do something like that they would have to be a complete and total dumb ass. Telling me I am doing that, is pretty much calling me a dumb ass. I didn't put words in your mouth, you just need to understand how people interperate things. You can't catch emotion over the computer so a lot of smirky comments lead to big fights when in person it could have been laughs. Constructive critisism is definitly cool with me especially if you are helping. I did not see 1 bit of help anywhere in your reply.
  17. Very strong and valid points here. Only problem I see, is the fact thats all speculation at this point. Sometimes all it takes is 1 single bike to start a trend that everyone will follow. Who knows, maybe he will throw 70 horse out of a stock motor and be dead reliable. It could happen. It could also blow a seal every ride and always be picky. Lets just wait and see. If I ever went 4 poke with my toys they will definitly go turbo.
  18. Very interesting. so if I get a 1-4 or 1-5 I still have all 6 gears? You can literally clutchless shift overrides? Thats pretty cool if you ask me! If I were to order one from somewhere (I don't even have a shee yet) would I have to send my gears in as cores or do they just ship out a whole new unit?
  19. OK, lets take 1-5 override tranny with nuetral down... What is it? My guess is first gear is eliminated since most draggers want to start in second? How much stronger are they? What are the ratio's like compared to stock? Does it make any sense to throw them into something other than a drag bike? Thanks guys.
  20. Congrats on the new family members guys! I just had my first son exactly 3 months ago. It's amazing how fast they grow!!!
  21. Massachusetts. I'd say a little too far away to make a deal unfortunately.
  22. is this a good deal? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Bans...1QQcmdZViewItem I kind of really really want this. I actually think thats an incredible deal. I asked him how much for shipping, and if he is reasonable I am going to grab it and have my first banshee project.
  23. OK so I spent all weekend checking all the papers, want ads, online classifieds, and spent some time asking friends. Here are my results... "Super Race J-Arm baha Banshee. Rare J arm Model highly collectable. Has motor issues. 5500 Firm. Get it while it last!!!! I called the guy for shits and giggles and he thinks it's a gold mine because it's a J arem frame. He also thinks either the carbs or the top end is shot but he can't tell. "1995 Yamaha Banshee 350 V twin. Low hours, all stock, never raced, never abused. Save thousands over new, 3700obo" I got a kick out of the v twin and save over new since there is no such thing as a new one anymore. Then there was one 2001 with laeger a arms, MX port, cool head, and all the other typical mods. Works shocks and what not for 4500. Seemed like the best find so far. Still far too expensive for me especially in my current situation. I wish I could find a roller for the 600 bucks I have saved up but I know thats not gonna happen. I can't wait until my financial situation turns around so I can blow lots of cash on a banshee. Who knows when that will be though.
