The shee is avery formidable creature many things factor into the projected final velocity that can be acheived during the phase of WTFOT during the lunar alignment with the alpha gamma quadrant the magnetic poles are shifted twards the solar winds of the nothern hemisphere and the gravitational effects on your fuel air mixture are counter acted during the intake stroke of both cylinders causing better atomization in combustion chamber which gives you 30% more horsepower. during said time frame. If you dig that you ought to see what happens when the axial rotation of the planet neptune combine with a solar flare. maybe 65%more if your worried about beating a banshee would yamaha sell 2 diff 2 stroke motors in 2 diff frames with 2 diff cc ranges wanmt to keep up with a shee get something that if not already is equal atleast can be hopped up to equal you are already at a major disadvantage with most of the bigger sport quads. I aint heard of to many people trying to build a chevette to keep up with a corvette but same manufacturer good luck and in short the top speed of a stock shee depends on how long you keep it stock Jim

that was a great description of a suspension under working conditions. You put it in terms that most should understand. I know I did ! sorry if it sounded like a LT suspension was a majical thing I know that going over a set of whoops you should keep the weight transfered to the rear and the rear shock carries most of the load, but with triple rates and a little more travel whether its up or down. LTs have a little more sag in the front which = a little more droop when you unload the front end which = a little more tire contact with the ground. These are things I have noticed since I put on over the winter.just my 2 pennies. ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR THE BITCHIN WRITE UP ON SUSPENSIONS Jim

I have laegers (LT) +2+1 with elkas and it makes a world of diff. I can skip off the top of woops and washboards in third gear on the gas and still have all my teeth in my head unlike a stock setup. the stock set up and same trail was second gear and hang the .... on to the bars cause you gonna get the shit beat out of ya The front end was pricey but I am very happy with the end result! I went on sunday and there were probably 6 or 7 shees there. I talked to a couple guys on banshees but no one had heard of the hq. just curious. :confused Jim

mods to improve reliability and durability.
JET 99 replied to csrmel's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I would atleast check your impeller on the water pump, if it is cracked replace it with a billet. changing the radiator to an aftermarket= better cooling and usually a little weight loss too. if you havent removed tors on the stock carbs that will eventually bite you. use the same 2 stroke oil, dont switch up all the time.if you have stock filter toss it for k&n and adapter plate. jeff at fast or passion should be able to steer you in the right direction on engine internals. Welcome to the HQ To avoid some smart ass comments if you have any questions try and do a search before starting a new post alot of newbie questions are already asked repeatedly over and over. I dont want you to think I am being an ass just trying to save ya some hastle. Most everyone on here is very helpful. If you decide on a banshee good luck and welcome to your new bad habit!!!!!! Jim

I dont think you will be disappointed dont forget to use a little loc tite at least were the sprocket bolts to the hub. 242 which is blue is a removeable thread locker if you use the red 262 you might have to heat it up to loosen it up. My has been together for over 7 months and they havent loosened up yet. Jim

I have a set and use stock lug nuts. I havent had a bit of problem with them. Jim
-
I have a set of lt's and some aftermarket shocks, it handles like a diff animal. +2+1 gives a much better feel for stability and the shocks will let you gain more speed in the shit you normally worry about getting bucked off by the front of the shee. and its nice actually having travel like the newer quads of today!and more speed potential than a four poke could dream of!!!!!!!!!! Jim

I have a lsr axle and sprocket hub. I like you were a little leary of aluminum, but as stated in an early reply. There are diffrent types of aluminum alloy. I used a little lock tite cylinderical bonding when I slid it over the spline just a little insurance so there will be no rubbing between contact faces ..... NO PROBLEMS yet to speak of, I also have the lsr lock nut a little blue lock tite on the screws and they are still with it 5 moths after putting together nothing vibrated loose. If you ask anyone who rides a american v-twin lock tite in the right places and uses is your best friend. Jim

havent seen anyone reply yet! so here is the deal: Your axle locknuts are they loose? when was the last time you checked or replaced the bearings and seals on your carrier? Is your axle rocking side to side when up off ground? loose nuts or bad bearings and or wore out faces where bearings ride on axle. that pretty much covers it! Jim

welcome and the craptor plastic is a touchy subject not to many true banshee lovers want their shee looking like anything else but a banshee. mixed gas = fast Jim

if you are going to be doimg it on your own, Look up ED CRAIG on the internet,I use a miller 652 delta at work and have a little millermatic 115 at home, using sheilding gas is the way to go for what you want. flux core welding uses more heat you will probably experience burn thru if your not dead on with your settings and how your stick out is from the tip of your gun to the end of the electrode. I use 75% argon 25% co2 for the gas on my 115v higher co2 content= less voltage setting on equivelent feed rate on wire. I use 85% 15% at work for steel, but the welder is on 3 phase 480v so voltage is not an issue for the bigger welder. sorry bout gabbin but the ED CRAIG weldreality site is a no BS site and has more info than you would ever need!!!!!!!!! hope it helps Jim

the cable ties on the front brake lines are at least worth a couple G's a pop. just think how much your ride would be worth if you had em. maybe that is were all the top end speed comes from???????????? jim
-
welcome to hq, just remember you dont have reverse, your HP curve is not a upslope it will be a spike depending on how big your wallet, the suspension is dated, stock lighting aint as nice as the newer quads out, but a shee is a balls out blast when your on the power band Jim

Mr Watkins has said it best THE CLYMERS your guide to the banshee. proper upkeep is the key and the book covers most of it. 96s riding still could be extreme or his riding condition are fubar compression checks are key to top end condition eventualy you will want to mod it but good preventive maint is a key to doing corrective maint ie..... broken. If you take care and change the gear case oil and use a good 2-mix keep your gas fresh air filter clean and use premieum octane you can get a couple of good riding years out of a stock motor, if you get the bug, your mods will probably come before the failures 96 mentioned above. Jim

mine was good took my son out and played in the slush on back road to f-muddy to go off road ground was completely saturated rained for 2 days then finnally switched to snow for about 6 hours family was great food was good now back 2 work tommorow then duck hunting trip starts weds-jan 1st to reelfoot tenn. Happy NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jim

You do not need porting right now but you need to rejet your carbs to avoid any damage and make use of better air flow thru motor. Once you rejet go enjoy your new found power for awhile and once you are comfortable with that then get some motor work done ie.. porting, head, stroke, clutch, impellar, shift star mod,oh yeah,a arms shocks brake lines, shortened or lengthened swing arm, tires, body mods, WELCOME TO YOUR NEW MONEY PIT ONCE BITTEN YOUR SCREWED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just curious what kind of opinions?engine is stock T-5s, jetted, K&N single in box, aluminum impeller, front end is completed and rear end is almost done, saving cash for new rear shock, would like to make intellegent upgrades in future on motor, poss use FAST for rebuild. like playing on flat track, litlle MX, alota time on trail around indiana . not looking for a drag rocket, but would like reliability and maybe a bit more SSSSSSHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE when it hits the pipe!!!!!!!!!! laegers&elkas b-lines on front, lonestar in the stock swinger w/ new bearings&seals, itp c5s&xc holeshots. clutch, motor mods, any input would help me make the smart choices when the time comes to yank the motor. jim

Please tell me I'm overcomplicating something....
JET 99 replied to odaen's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I just got done with +2+1 a arms.I found the same problem. I took lines loose from calipers hung down sides of lower frame over top of oil drip pan just kept rezzie full let gravtity do the work after a few minutes brake fluid started coming outof them made sure rezzie was full then I started hooking lines to calipers keeping an eye on rezzie then bleed the old fashion way with it up on a stand. It took about 15 min total to do the job. good luck, Jim -
best 2 cycle oil to use in banshee
JET 99 replied to htown01shee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I have been using mobil1 mx2t at a 40 to 1 mix and have had no problems with it. Like others said on here its pretty much your choice of brand, you will only hear bad things one someone has motor issues. I like running synthetics, they have come along way with the technology. synthetics hold up to heat alot better and have better lubricity characteristics(slicker) than conventional oil mixes. Jim -
Mine starts to grab a little less than half way thru the travel and full engagement at about a 1/4 inch further out, that is with a nickle width of play between the handle and handle bar mount bracket set with adjuster. hope it helps! Jim

thanks for the info. I was out playing in the back of the niegborhood on the snowcovered roads. doesnt really give me agood feel for the suspension yet but the wider foot print of the+2+1 arms was a blast sliding thru the corners wide open in 4th. Iam really happy with the outcome thank again for the help! Jim
