  2. How exactly does the dial a jet work? I have been thinking along those lines for a LONG time. If they will work with alch too, then F'it I am going to order up some. Do you still need to mess with pilots and needles with the dial-a-jet?
  3. I have been considering the alchy conversion myself. So you need to change the tank and the petcock as well? Maybe a IMS tank and pingry dual? Do you need to run different fuel lines? Do you need to run Top Lube along with the 2stroke oil? The reason I want to do the conversion is because they are alot less sensative to jetting on alchy from what I hear. Is this correct? Are they harder to start on the sauce? What about your timing setting and pluggs as well?
  4. It appears my coil is toast. Should I just get another stocker or should I get a aftermarket one. I am actaully consideriing getting the MSD and going all out.
  5. I have Odeans last set of Cyl's that Cam did and man I tel ya, they are AWESOME! I am going to contact Cameron tomorrow because I need some needles and a new coil. Bruce, could you send me his number please? Thanks man.
  6. Wanted to give a HUGE thank you to Big Red. We worked on the bike yesterday and got it pretty close. I think the fine tuning now will have to be done with some different needles. Jared, you happen to remember what needles I had in those carbs? my mind has gone blank. The 2 quads ran pretty kneck and kneck. It was interesting to see and feel the difference between the two bikes and how they make thier power. We did run into some more problems though. Right at the end of the day I lost spark, errr well it had intermitent spark, but for the most part the quad is dead. I need to get it unloaded and do some tests and see if I can narrow it down. Suspicion is, it is the stator. Again thank you Jared! Really had a good time riding and cant wait to get back out there again and NOT have to wrench on the damn thing for 3/4 of a day.
  7. Forgot to answere this. This weekend I got on a buddies rather built DS and honestly, I dont want another one. It is the most comfortable quad on the market period but it is heavy. After having the banshee and seeing this kind of power and how NON-laborous it is to ride I love it. You ride a DS all day and you are exausted, I ride my Shee all day and am ready for more. Mine sits low and wide so it is as stable as anything I have ever ridden and I like a very stable feeling quad. With my fat ass on it, it almost looks like a TT racing set-up LOL. I am having a hard time deciding on redoing the rear shock for my weight and the +4 swinger. If I have it done it will change my ride height and I dont think I want it changed. I dont think however that the rear shock will hold up to this kind of abuse. I know your Shee is set up alot better suspension wise so i am hoping to give it a whirl to feel the difference so I know which way i want to go. Nothing compares to a DS suspension in the rough stuff. 15" of travel is alot to compete with. Power wise, I think my shee could possibbly take my DS when I ran the DS with a 30 shot of NOS. I think thats the weight difference and the high revs of the shee. I miss the low end grunt/hold back of the DS though. Going down hills is a whole nother ball game with the shee that I am not used to. I really didnt know if I was going to like the Shee, but I am quickly becoming a real fan. I dont see it going anywhere. If I can get to where I am making some real money another Bomb will join my fleet. I think I want that new Can-AM Renegade 800 for some good mountain trail riding. A new toy hauler and a sled will come first though. the BANSHEE, The rest
  8. I have to give ya props man, you said they were awesome and you were right. I been anxious to get ya a report but with the jetting problems I really hadnt been able to get a good hard weekend of riding in till this weekend. I could NOT be more happy with how this thing runs errrr well if it was jetted right anyways. I have been trying to decide rather to put on a lightened flywheel or not, advance the timing up to 7 deg as Packard racing had suggested, get a set of V-force reeds, and maybe step up to the high comp domes as right now I have in the mid domes you sent me. The only thing is I just dont know if I really want to have to run race gas, maybe a 50/50 mix would be ok. Then though, I would have to start this whole jetting mess again and I really dont know if I want to mess with it. I am ready to ride, not wrench. It's a sickness I tell ya. Big Red, I would deffinatly appreciate some help with this thing. 2 boxes of pluggs, including some iridiums is not helping me save money for the next set of mods LOL. There a day this week when you know you could head out there? I am able to go any day so if you want to ride, you tell me what day and I will be there. If possible though, I would prefer not to ride on Sunday, if thats the only day then that's not a biggy. I could take my Dads 2 place if ya want and pick you up in RS so we both dont have to drive out there. I am going to order some pilots and maybe some different needles and have them over nighted to me. Let me know, I will PM ya my phone number if ya want to make plans. Jbooker, Thanks for the links, those might come in handy!!!
  9. Ok for those that dont know, I have a 4mm long rod stroker, dune/play ported, cool head w/cut domes, +5 timing, FMF fatty golds, and 35mm PWK airstrykers. I am at aprox 7000 ft. I started with 170 mains and 42 pilots. Fouled the plugs in 20 minutes. then as follows (all with 42 pilots, all I had with me): Switched to 162 mains, fouled pluggs went to 155 mains, fouled pluggs moved needle clip up (needle down) one position and adjusted air/fuel screw to 1.5 turns out. 150 mains, fouled pluggs but only on low to mid RPMS, Top end was lean. Went back to 160's, ran longer but still fouled pluggs. Moved to 155 mains and put clip in top position, Ran most of the day but still fouled pluggs I know my low to mid circuts are way to rich still. What pilot size would you try next? Air/fuel screws should be set at???? I am running pump 91 with Klotz R50 mixed at 40:1. The other part that is driving me crazy is my left cylinder always fouls the pluggs first. What could cause this? Been really thinking about going to the dial-a-jet setup on the carbs, What is your guys' experiences with these? Note: Wanted to add, THIS THING RIPS!!! I know there is more power on tap once it is dialed in and I cant wait to see it! I am amazed at the torque this motor makes and when it hits the high end, it flat gets it on. I was at St. Anthony's this weekend and it ran well against some very serious machines. One guy even argued with me saying he just knew it was on alcohol. NOPE!! She is a sleeper, and I love it!!
  10. My setup is a 4mm stroker long rod, dune porting, cool head with cut domes, 35mm airstrykers, fmf fatty's, +5 timing advance. I have a +4 swinger and am running comp cut paddla brats, 9 paddle. Right now I am one tooth down on the front from stock. Not sure what stock even is LOL. Seams too low to me???
  11. I did a comp test on the shee yesterday after some riding and break-in. Both cylinders read about 142 psi and were withink 2 PSI of eachother everytest. So what is the max PSI you can run and run good ol premium pump? Searches are not coming up with much sorry.
  12. Pics are up! My picture post, click here. Took it out yeaterday but forgot my jets and my extra plugs. It was way rich and fouled the plugs in about 20 min. Brought her home, changed the jets and plugs and did a quick run up my street and WHOOOOAA YAH BABY, SHEE RUNS!!!
  13. Well after six months and expecially the last 2 weeks I finally fired it the Shee up last night. Sounded like a 1000 hamsterpower running in a cage. Actually went to start on first kick, then took about 10 more and then BOOM started right up. Starts every kick now. She sounds healthy, really healthy! I promise I will get some pictures tonight. One question though. Do most people just run individual lines from the breather ports? I mean the hose that comes out of the crankcase, the nipple on the back of the cases by the engine mount, and the overflow from by the radiator cap. from what I can see looking at stock machines, these three lines are conected together. Is this correct?
  14. Not running yet unfortunatly. Mostly do to me being so picky. Evry part that goes on is being cleaned and double checked. I have the right side of the exaust to do, the chain, the stator side cover, and gas tank to install. Fill it iwth fluids then, I can try starting it. Probably a good hour to 2 hours of work still to hear it run............I HOPE!
  15. From what i understand from above, you have to totally eliminate the whole tors system. I just disconnected everything Tors related. Dont know if it works yet or not because I am about a hour or so worth of work still before I can try to fire it up. I will let you know if it works.
  16. My pipes are the FMF fatty golds, and its the same left side that is so close. I have heatsheilded that side and stuff so it sounds like I was on the right track. I think these carbs will be great but man I hate the look of all those hoses all over the place. Guess I will look into a pingle.
  17. You can take a bearing puller and put the screw against the tube joint and the bar of the swingarm. Then use one jaw on the bearing and pull it from the inside-out. Thats how I got mine out. and it didnt damage the bearings either.
  18. I just got my carbs installed in my quad. There are tubes everywhere though. Do I need to leave them fuul length, or can I cut them down to a decent length to clean up the look? Also the pipes sit right next to the carb tops, I mean like almost touching. Is this normal? Last but not least. Is the stock petcock and fuellines adequate for these carbs fuel supply?
  19. OK thanks!! I know where all of the connectors are accept the one at the clutch perch. At the risk of sounding like an idiot, what is the clutch perch, or better yet where?
  20. I am putting on 35mmm Air Strykers on the new project. How do I fool the the system to thinking the TORS is working? I have the Clymers but the schematics dont show what the swithes are, only shows there are switches. So do I cut the plugs off, splice them together to close the loop? Or do I leave them open? I am suspecting cut and splice.
  21. This project started last October. Still not running. Have to go to a stealership tomorrow so I can look at a few things. Like how they run the wiring harness. Also need to look at the set up of the little breather lines and coolant lines. Almost there though, I think she will start tomorrow.
  22. I have been in the process of building my shee now for 2 weeks. I have everything stripped off the bike to start. I dont think there was hardly a bolt not left undone. I have painted, and had my frame professionaly painted (see signature) and basically did a whole new motor, the only thing left fron original is the cases and the tranny stuff, everything else is new. The quad still doesn't even have the motor in it yet and I have spent a good 30 hours pluss on the assembly so far. MAN it is clean though. Spent 12 solid hours on it yesterday and that was just doing the suspension basically. Shewwww its some work when your a perfectionist like I am. I watch the guys on American Chopper and I can now see why haveing a week to build a bike is a serious undertaking. Although I have dome my quad basically bymyself and thats a big difference. Plus I have had to do it in my Father-in-laws shop with sub-par tools at best. I think I would have saved myself alot of time and headaches if I would have just packed up my tools (a serius amount of tools) and took them all out to his shop. Tomorrow night I will post the picks in the pictures section of it hopefully from beginning to end. PLEASE QUAD GODS, LET ME HEAR IT RUN TOMORROW!!!! and PLEASE dont let it
  23. I have a 4mm stroker long rod, dune porting, FMF Fatty golds, Vito's billet intakes, + 4-5(somewhere in there, kinda moved when tightening down) timing advance, cool head with cut domes, supposed to be in the 170 lb range at sea level to 4000ft. Here is the hard part, I am at 6000 feet and then some. I have the 35mm strykers carbs with the 8" K&N's. Any idea where to start?
