best 2 cycle oil to use in banshee
DemonShee replied to htown01shee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Myself and many of the guys i ride with and know are running the klotz R-50 at 40:1. Does good, none of us have had a problem yet. -
I got it off FINALY. I didnt have much time and so by the time I had to head back out to the shop, there had been no replies. I found Jeff @ FAST # and gave him a call. I really didnt want to bather him but he very kindly took the time to talk with me and give me some suggestions. I tell ya, thats customer service that cant be beat. THANKS JEFF!!!!!!! I took some PB Blaster and sprayed it in there. Made sure the tool was in as far as it would go and gave it hell. I found part of my problem was my father-in-laws compressor's regulator was set at 75 lbs intead of 90 lbs. I loosend the drive shaft on the pulley then would hit it fast and hard with the impact, and repeated about 3 times and boom, popped right off. One thing I didnt notice tho before it was off, this pulley has been off before, or attempted to have been taken off. There is marks on the pickup tabs on the flywheel from a jaws type puller. They didnt hit the pickup but they are deffinatly there. I hadnt run the quad enough to say if it had a warped flywheel and made it vibrate or not. I didnt notice anyting tho so it might be ok. I want to have it lightened so I will have Jeff check it when he does it (if he does, I forgot to ask). If it is bad I guess I will have to find a new one. Thanks for the help guys!!! BHQ RULES!

I am trying to get my flywheel off. I have the correct puller from Yammy, threaded it, everything. Put the impact wrench to it and IT WONT BUDGE!!! amy I doing something wrong??? What else can I try? I thought about putting a propane torch on the fly wheel and heating it up. Probably ruin the flywheel but I dont care at this point, I have to get this crank out!!

Had to give props to Bkabina. I bought his 4mil stroker crank from him. He sent it the very next morning after we sealed the deal. Arrived in less than a week. Crank looks good as new. I am very happy and the price I feel was very fare. THANKS MAN!!!!

Do you need the over flow tank?
DemonShee replied to banshee rider 01's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Loco, are you being just that " Loco" or are you being serious? -
Reverse could be very easy and add zero weight. If the Banshee was equiped with an electronic ignition that took over from 100 RPM's on up, it would not need a battery. The E.I. can control the direction of the motor travel like mentioned in the previous post. Check out the Ski-Doo's and the Polaris snowmachines, they have been doing this for a few years now. Only weight added is a switch and a little black plastic box. So thats no big deal. Honda has proven that E-start can be added with only adding 6 lbs. Thats not even quite a full 1 HP performance loss. There basically isnt a reason I can see that either of these upgrades would be a bad thing. I was told back in the eighties there was a guy that did build a Banshee with fuel injection. Anybody know anything more about it?

H2's are for wanna be pussy's! H1's are a reall man ride. An H1 can fit if an H2 can fit pretty much. My dream car is the 69-70 Mustang Boss 429 or 302.

I guess I should have listed what I already have. The crank is trued and welded and has the Tz bearing installed. Redline Racing Dune/Play porting. +4 swingarm Case matching the cylinders sounds easy enough. I been going to check the cylinders for exaust polishing but havent yet, if not I will do that as well. I will contact Jeff at Fast about his clutches, they seam to have a very good reputation for lasting. Can someone tell me more about the shift star mod?

SWEET!! Man I am liking 2-strokes more and more.

I have been thinking, yes I know thats dangerous, my wife is scared, but i need to know a few things. While I have this motor apart doing the 4 mil stroker conversion, what else would be good upgrades to do? I am looking for mods that would help with reliability and logevity of life along with more HP. I am for sure going to get the adjustable timing plate. I am also thinking lightening the flywheel and a billet high flow impeller. Anything else I should consider that wont break the bank?
-
Well so far I have the motor out Cylinders were already off removed both side covers Now I need to remove the clutch and the stator/timing plate. Do you have to use a Yamaha specific puller for both of these or can you use a universal puller for bearings/steering wheels for cars as well? I have removed the nuts on both with my impact wrench. Once this is done and I have removed the case bolts like wallrat described, does the case simply split? I mean does the crank and tranny parts stay in the bottom half in the position they should be so all I have to do is remove the crank and place the new crank in. put a new seal on and marry the halves back together again or is it alot more complicated than that?

I was wondering if any of you would be kind enough to share some tips on disassembling the case of a Banshee. I need to get my stock crank out to send to the buyer ASAP. Any tricks you could share or tips of what not to do? I am trying to get my hands on a manual but I am extremely pressed for time and might not be able to wait. Please help me out Notice I asked politely, please no smart ass remarks, I dont need em and neither does anyone else.
