Nice, how bout fronts for the TT guys? -
Nope. That's about as big as a stock cyl can get. There are 10 mil stockers, but the cost gets pretty wild for the result. There just isn't enough room to carve the volume needed to make a 10 mil perform the way it should. I've seen a stock cyl 10 mil from RDZ years ago that ran with 10 cubs but it costed 3 times as much with the welded transfers and triple exhaust. Not positive but I believe it had yz125 intakes as well grafted on.

It's not the cylinder that determines the fuel usage. It's the head/dome set up. I think I have seen Athena's available with domes for pump gas as well as race gas. Do you know what the current set up is compression wise? -

What's the best time out of that thing so far? -
3 1/2 yrs. Used to hang out with skin heads and a buddy got jumped. At the arrogant age of 17 I felt it was needed to put a crow bar through someone's head while my cohort let loose with an aluminum baseball bat. Quite fucking stupid....... Regardless the judge felt that even if they deserved it, the fact that we went in their home to retaliate was out of control. He waited till I was 18, and off I went. At this point in life I can't say that I disagree with his decision. I can't say it was because I was young and dumb, I just didn't give a fuck and wanted the world to know. Pretty fucked up time in life.....

^ that Give this random list a go Trouble shooting list Flywheel and key (no rattles good magnetically) Stator (ohmed and tried 4 known good stators) Pick up and pick up gap (even filed nubs even) Wiring harness Un wrapped and gone through Plugs and connectors cleaned and greased New spark plugs Clipped plug wire ends where boots thread in New plug boots Ohmed and tried several known coils Coil surface grounded and cleaned w/ dielectric Harness ground cleaned up Tors/park brake/key/tps/ all deleted Disconnected the tether switch Test kill switch Swap coil Swap CDI Swap stator At the CDI harness side connector, check for continuity between the red/black wire and the black wire. You should have continuity with the key on. (or bypassed) If no continuity, there's your problem. If that checks, check between the black/white wire and the black wire. That's your kill switch. It should be open circuit for it to run. You got it. We noted and have posted many times, the typo that Clymer did in their manuals. Primary is from blade connector to blade connector and secondary is from plug wire to plug wire. Remember to remove the plug caps and test separately. They are known for failures . Remember also to unclip the wires completely from the coil and test "ONLY" the coil when you get a bad reading. Wires shit out commonly, the coil itself rarely fails. your ignition has 4 wires. cut the ignition off. the black with white stripe and red with brown stripe need to be soldered . then solder the red and brown wires so you then have 2 wires. wrap them up in electrical tape (NOT TOUCHING) then your ignition will be eliminated. the coil grounds where it mounts, and there is one on the back of the timing plate- it's the wire clamp. that is the whole engine ground. there is also one by the voltage regulator. -

Idle..... Screw both choke knobs clockwise so that they are all they way in. Use paint pen, white out, tape, or something to put a mark on both knobs so you can keep track of where they are rotation wise. Not turn them both 7-7 1/2 turns out. Should idle nice.

trickedcarbine replied to banshee den's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well, The Athena name sure has a lot of heritage and experience so naturally they would want to try the banshee market. To be honest I'm surprised it took them as long as it did. But their stuff doesn't quite hold a candle to the other stuff available. However they are better then stock if they have decent nickasil in the bore. They don't have to radical of a lay out so you can still get some bottom end. Plus they got the triple exhaust which is nice and allows a builder to do some good things with volume. They are relatively newer in a competitive market, so not to many guys have messed with them. There has been a few guys to get them to run ok, though. You'll probably be able to find someone who can port them and get them to run well. But you might be happier selling it and starting with a serval your self. -

Ha! That guy is suicidal. Classic though. Clueless fuck will then go tell all his buddies " Ya, I had a banshee. Unreliable as hell. Never ran". Then he'll go buy a used 450. Ride it for a season and change the oil. Tell his buddies "yep, bought a 4 stroke 450. Fuckers bad. Beats that old piece I never knew how to fix." Then the next season it'll go kaboom since he never knew to check the valve train. Priceless. Priced for a bike that's all there but needs work though. -
