I cut mine not to long ago...was out in the mud in the morning, cut them, went riding again, i actually think i get less crap on me, more comes from the back tires...and i live on a gravel road and iv never had any rocks or anything come up and hit me ..so i say cut them!

If its running better with your choke on, then wouldnt you be running lean, because the choke would stop more air so you get more fuel..just a thought

I had a post like this in product review by accident, and i said i would count my teeth and i did...turns out i have 13/42 with 20 inch tires. Im thinking of going back to stock with the 20 inch tires. Do you think it will pull good with... -Boyesen Reeds -DG Pipes/Stock Silencers -K&N Filter W/O Lid -Bored to 364cc -Boost Bottle ...and could i even go to a 40 rear...im mostly riding roads and when i go trail riding and to the gravel pits, ill probably gear back down..thanks

All good ideas ...yea i think im going to try the utility knife, and if i cant seem to get that to work, ill use a hacksaw, and sand it down Did you just use the electrical tape as your lines, or did you put the electrical tape down, then followed that with a pencil/marker..sorry for all these questiongs just dont want to hack it up too bad

A utility knife is sharp/strong enough to cut the plastic, maybe ill use that then, and yea i was going to draw lines so i know where im cutting, did you have to sand the edges when you were done or did it do a good enough job

It wont have enough back pressure will it?..or will the pipes give enough back pressure

Yea ill probably just use my jigsaw, then sand down the edges and scratches Hopefully it will turn out nice

Have you checked your plugs, they're not getting wet from kicking it over, did you swap the bowls around for some reason, maybe take your carbs apart and clean them again, mine is acting the same way, but thats just because my pilot isnt big enough, maybe get new pilots-27.5 and try that

oh i know i wont get a new quad out of cutting the fenders im doing it for the looks....just thought id get you guys laughing at my friend...he thinks he will ruin anything out there on his Z400

What temperature is it around your place right now..are you talking about its cold and the weather is cold, or just trying to start it when its warm outside
