  1. Frame is mine, new 10 mil on alky I'm building... It's my buddy's bike...I got all my stuff at his house, his garage. More room than mine, heated....and he's got a good array of machine shop tools and the like. Already had to customize my bearing carrier...so, coming in handy!!!
  2. Ok....fine. I'm still the original though....LOL. Just to clue the board in, we're both named Dave Germain. Different middle names....though.... So...since we both do business with Jeff at FAST, I told Jeff I will now be referred to as the original Dave Germain... Although, he's been known to call me other things.... :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao:
  3. My buddy had a turbo banshee making 140 HP on stock carbs...sure it can be done. But, bigger carbs are just easier.... bad... The check is in the mail, now hold your breath....LOL...
  4. You could make over 100HP on stock carbs, you could also do it much easier on bigger carbs. ON a turbo bike, many actually prefer the stock carbs. However, this is no turbo bike.... Compliment the bike, compliment the motor...get bigger carbs and better pipes suited for drag racing....
  5. 260s should be safe, do a plug chop from there.
  6. They don't have any gas stations around you that sell race fuel? I only pay 5 bucks a gallon for race fuel around here, 110 octane. Sheesh...in that case, alky would be cheaper... It'll take one healthy DS on spray to beat a good tuned 421 cub.... I'm not saying it can't be done...but, they'll have 3 to 4 times the money into that DS get r done!!
  7. Sorry...the pink jelly in a can is the only stuff I've found there... :ermm:
  8. Murray's, Auto Zone and PepBoys as well...Love this stuff. Use this method too... Any bad rust, you're gonna have to put some elbow grease into it...get a die grinder with a scotchbrite pad....
  9. Drag porting, stock carbs and T5 pipes  Bigger carbs and Shearer, CPI or other high rev top end pipes would wake that bike right up....
  10. My first thought to give it power is put it on alky...but, just not feasible for trails. When I had my 85, it was dune ported, AAEN pipe, big 39mm carb, no air box, real short gearing (went from 1 to 5 RIGHT NOW)... Don't take this the wrong way...but, I think you'll get the most power out of that bike if you let a seasoned vet do the porting. It's gonna be a fun bike to ride, and even though it's older than that banshee design, you're going to find it handles night and day better than a shee. I loved mine. It's gonna be quick...just not fast. You could push the limit with some compression (which you have...you could go more) and porting...but, the tranny's on those weren't the strongest...plus, you want it reliable. Hard to have it real fast yet keep it reliable.... LT500 motors had a bunch of problems too. But, dr. q on planet sand seems to have perfected that motors inherent faults....they are getting harder and harder to find at a reasonable price...though. I'd just put it together and ride it. It's gonna be fun...just not a rocket!
  11. Jmadd...didn't you just have to rebuild one after it locked up (forgot if it was you or not...) With that timing and compression...and the cost of gernading a motor to save a few bucks...I'd say stay with 108. I'm sure you'd be ok with a 50/50 or 25/75 mix. But....is it worth saving a few bucks? Just my opinion. Why don't you go to alky? More power, same price. (Yeah, I know alky is cheaper, but...you burn twice as much and use more premix too....)
  12. Yep. and the basket will come with screws to hold it onto the gear.
  13. Just pull a valve stem from the outside in....that's all I've ever done.
  14. Precisely why I didn't go out on the ice with alky this year....LOL!!
  15. Don't forget drag bike tow vehicle...cause soon or later, it's gonna happen...LOL. :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao:
  16. Honestly, Duner...first one with cash in my hand or wired to me would get the bike. That's too good a deal for YOU to have to wait for THEM....
  17. Now that...I didn't know. Not sure why you'd go that route, rather than just drill it out like everyone else does... Especially since you have to drill out the dump tube, drill the bell for a power jet, etc??
  18. Translucent red...hmm....seen that color before somwheres.... Yeah, same color I got, Meat...with a Chrome base under. Those are some nice looking arms there!!
  19. What....no "Now you know. And knowing is half the battle. Go Joe...." :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao:
  20. You'd think with tax returns, etc., someone would jump all over this. If I didn't just pickup a 400EX a month or so ago, I'd drive halfway to meet you myself.... Somebody's gotta buy this baby....
  21. Actually...Mine is a Lonestar...LOL. Mikey...that setup is SWEET!!!
  22. Washburn, don't take this the wrong way....but a good trail rider does not necessarily make for a good drag racer. I've ridden with both, guys that could fly through trails but couldn't get out of the hole to save their life (that's where drag races are won, without a doubt)...and guys that could drag with the best of them, good off the line, hitting shifts, etc., but damn near wadded ass into a tree once we got off the strip. People think (not directed at you...Washburn) that drag racing is dumping a clutch and banging gears. That's like saying driving a car is turning a key and putting it in drive. There's simply more to it than that.....
  23. Yep....
  24. Twice as much fuel than a gas motor.... The jet sizes don't work out that way...number to number, that's why you drill them out. You're not going to be able to buy a big enough jet. The good thing is, once you find the correct size, you pretty much tune in alky with the powerjet. I'm using Dave Moore's powerjet in my new 10 mil build, I've heard nothing but good things about them. Also...you're going to have to get into a purge routine on your bike. After a weekend of riding, you have to run gas/oil through the motor to flush out the alky, since alky attracts moisture and can rust and/or corrode the internals of your motor....
