  1. Good day mate.... Paul, welcome to HQ. What is your elevation...and what temps do you ride at. If you run less than 1000ft sea level...and normal summer temps, say 65 to 90 degrees, based on your mods, I'd leave the stock pilots and needles in there, middle clip on the needle. Start with 280 mains....and do a proper plug chop to dial your mains in. My buddy has bills pipes and no lid on his box, K&N filter and I put 290's in his (because he's a lazy bastard and I wanted it to be a hair rich for him) and it ran great, plugs looked good...just a hair rich. Here's the plug chop... http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html
  2. Primer pumps are used on the older sleds due to a the carbs not being gravity fed. Your banshee is.... as long as you don't run the carbs dry (in which case if you do....turn the gas on...shake the bike for a solid 20 seconds and it'll fill 'em back up) there's no need for one on a banshee. If it won't start dead cold within 3 kicks...you have other issues...and there's a laundry list from dirty carbs to improper jetting, dirty air filters.... And then onto bigger things, low compression...weak spark, bad plugs... Bottom line is you shouldn't need a primer. If it's not starting easy...get to the real problem...carbs losing prime isn't one of them!!!
  3. Not sure...but I didn't know the CDI helped with the lighting....(I'm terrible when it comes to wiring/electronics) I think the extra wire off the Dyna is for a tach, not sure. I do know there are two wires coming off the stator that must be plugged in, aside from the one, large box style plug. You didn't happen to unplug that shiny silver box next to the CDI, did you? that's your regulator/recitifier...
  4. Thanks Rog...it's all good. Working with Shearer and the guy now to exchange them for the right pipes!! After two bad outings for me....my 10 mil and I are both pissed off and ready to go!!! Gotta put my other pipes on today...and I'll probably fire it up later this afternoon...I pretty much ran the bike dry on the purge gas!!! See you boys in tha mornin!!
  5. Helluva good question. I'd ask Bob when you get there....I don't see why not.
  6. Yeah...I was pretty pissed off when I got home. Bad day at work, I was giddy as a kid to get home and get these beautiful pipes on...well that didn't happen. He's really is trying to make it right by me....I'm gonna call him in a few to hash it out. I got jerked around on the shipping...but to be fair and honest, he got jerked around on the payment and did hold on to these pipes way longer than he should have had to...they could be sold in a hot second. So....I think it'll all work out. I'm gonna has Sean to spin me up some flanges....and I know they'll be fine. I just don't want to deal with the delays of shipping, etc. with Shearer.... But damn do these pipes look good....LOL...
  7. My..what good eyes you have.... I'm undecided what to do. I'm either going to sell these pipes, or have Sean machine and weld flanges on them. Really hate to see 'em go...they are beautiful brand new pipes.... I'm too pissed off right now, and I sent the seller a note...not happy with him at all...
  8. Nope...Dan will have to wear a chest protector, and some 1980's style flourecent AXO or JT pants as well...LOL. If I smoke the motor, I'll need something to laugh at.... Here's camera pic of the pipes, I'll have them on the bike tonight in a few hours with more pics... Shot with LG-VX8300 at 2007-07-12
  9. I wouldn't trade my particular drag banshee for a YFZ...but if I had a run of the mil, trail and dune banshee, I would for sure.... (Then again, I already have a drag banshee...so, it would just be an upgrade to my 400EX backup, trail bike...LOL)
  10. Holy chit is that funny....nice....
  11. Ben...get the magnum, you'll be fine. I beat on mine all last year with my 4 mil cub. A LOT of runs down the drag strip. I pulled my motor apart this year for my 10 mil, and the basket looked brand new...not a notch, groove, etc... For the price and the fact it's proven itself to me...hard to go wrong with it.
  12. Abc...123... http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html
  13. Good point...he sure did. I guess we're both not very good readerz or sumthin.... Odd...maybe it is a stroker motor thing...maybe the stock stroke has less squish, more compression...or combo... (Could be the timing on the plate is a little off, too...)
  14. Most cranks can be rebuilt for cheaper than a new one. A good used crank is 75 to 150....new is 3X times that...
  15. Well...you know what I'll be doing once I get home from work.. Just gotta bolt 'em up and make sure they fit ok, but...they should be fine!!! I think they're show chrome too...they don't look as dull as the production chrome I've seen on Shearer Pipes....
  16. Speaking of...just got mine from UPS...whoo hoo...
  17. J-Madd.... Big Boy is 300lbs, and has a little 4 mil cub motor going LOW 4's (4.1s last I heard before the bottle, right Travis??) on GAS.... This is almost unheard of on gas and with a big boy rider.... He's obviously doing something very right...and very impressive. I used to have a lot of people bag on me for running so much timing on my old 4 mil cub, just goes to show you there more power to be had if you want to try for it...
  18. Yep....get her skinny...just don't try to broadslide it under speed...you might go ass over tea kettle. If the rims are offset, swap them too...(valve stem on the inside)
  19. Cubs in general like more timing if you keep the squish in check as well as the compression. I ran my 4 mil on gas @ 185PSI and about 12 degrees timing...but the last 4 degrees came from the curve on my dyna...and the CDI tapers off as the R's raise... 8 on my plate, plus the dyna.... A lot of folks are scared to run that high of timing on a cub, mine loved it...so, that's what I'm going by. I'll get a good idea how much timing my 10 mil on alky likes this weekend...
  20. Drill out the rivets, get a 20 dollar rivet gun @ home depot, repack, rerivet. While you're there, get a roll of pink house insulation...peel the paper, and use that to repack the silencers...
  21. Yeah, I knew the HIV/gas pump handle thing was BS. I'm the network and mail administrator at my work....I go off the handle when people here send that shit around. The first thing I do is usually go to Symantec's Hoax site and show them Bill Gates and AOL haven't teamed up to give you 10 grand for forwarding an email to 100 of your closest friends... The Internet and Email have a ton of good, practical uses. It also brings the dipshits out of the woodwork as well. Turbo...I heard on the news about the infant that died in the car...WTF is wrong with people. I agree with you Jared...I've always been an animal lover...I treat my dogs as if they were my kids. Luckily, I have great neighbors that love my dogs and treat them great...
  22. Sweet up... There's gonna be a BUNCH of people there, between this group and the PS guys...should be a great, great turn out.
  23. Rippen...your old buddy Dave has out of frames for sale...
  24. Put at least the 250 mains in it while you're at it. Stock mains are 200...you're leaner than that...or your gonna be rebuilding it again real soon...and it'll be more than just pistons...LOL...
